The best game ever!!!!!!!!!!

This game is the best one i've ever played. The coopertative mode is awesome, graphicas are great, and the levels are incredible. Even if it's a little short(only 13 levels), the third person perspective is very useful for beating each of them.

amazing!!!!

This game, based on the hit movie and book, is a good action game. You basically go through a few levels, doing things and not doing things that were in the movie. It is alot of fun as a game, but it is really easy and a relatively short game. I beat the single and co-op missions with all the bonuses in about three hours.

I give it a 4/5 for gameplay( it is alot of fun and the combos are really cool), 2.5 for graphics(they could have done a much better job on the faces, and the characters talk but don't move there mouths), 5/5 for audio (the music is brilliant), a 4/5 for co-op(the camera angles are sometimes really hard to deal with) and a 3.5 overall.

I do recommend this game but I do warn you it is pretty short.

this game is awsome. it was challenging and hard. its really cool how you can use your points from the level you beat and buy upgrades. i like the coopmode and i beat almost all of it with a friend. i just dont like the fact that after you beat the game it gives the cheat codes and then its not that fun anymore exept for the invincible code lets kids who arent that good, first time or just a little brother or sister who just sohappens to want to play, trust me i have 4 of them. the graphics are awsome and blood is very hard to see thanks to the darkness of each level. the game is very close in relationship with the movie which some games dont. i think this game is really for kids 11 and up. you might make acceptions for kids that are trustworthy. i really think this game ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you enjoyed EA's The Two Towers for NGC, (like I did,) Then you will love this. This game combines amazing graphics, great sound, and excellent gameplay. It is without a doubt my favorite game. Now, if you are wondering if this game is for you, I will try and answer your questions in my review.

You can play as nine characters in this game. You have six to begin with, and you unlock three more once you complete the game. There are 13 levels, broken down into three "paths." There is the Path of the King, in which you can choose from Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. It has five levels, and they are: Paths of the Dead, King of the Dead, The Southern Gate, The Pelennor Fields, and The Black Gates.

There is also the Path of the Wizard, in which you can play as only Gandalf. It has four levels, and they are: Helm's Deep, The Road to Isengard, Minas Tirith: Top of the Wall, and Minas Tirith Courtyard.

Then there is the Hobbits path, which has four levels. You play as Sam for the first three, and as Frodo for the fourth. The levels are: Escape from Osgiliath, Shelob's Lair, The Cirith Ungol Tower, and the Cracks of Doom.

I know everyone makes a huge deal over the two-player mode, but it really isn't all that amazing. It is fun to sort of team up with your pal, but you may be better off playing by yourself.

When you first insert the game disc, the first level, (Helm's Deep,) is automatically loaded. Once you beat that level, you unlock the three paths. You can start on any one you want, but you will end up having to play them all. (Needless to say.) The game is obviously designed for you to play the Wizard's path first and the hobbit's path last. All of the levels are well done and fun to play and replay. There are A point to B point levels, defend levels, and levels where you have specific missions. The environments echo those of the movie very well, and look spectacular on there own merit. However, like The Two Towers, they are still quite linear and have very little exploration value. It is a bit more open-ended than TTT though. For example, in The Road to Isengard, there are multiple paths. And levels like Minas Tirith Courtyard and The Pelennor Fields are huge vistas, much more so than ever was in TTT.

The gameplay is simple and obvious. Kill every enemy in sight. Each character has a melee weapon and a ranged weapon. The number of enemies on the screen at one time can be astounding. The AI of the enemies is quite impressive, and they will give you a tough time. There are orcs, uruks, uruk-hai, trolls, easterlings, mumakil, nazgul, and more. The combat is very good, and you have a wide range of combos that can be purchased at the end of each level. The combos are quite important, as they strike multiple enemies at a time, and are far more effective than just hammering on the attack buttons. I never found them hard to execute, although I have read many reviews that said they were. Also, if you use your combos, you will rake in even more points. This allows you to purchase more combos, as well as health upgrades, bow upgrades, and more. So using your combos is quite important. There are even moves called "banes." When you purchase one of these, you can block an enemies blow and quickly press the R button to instantly kill him. It will show a short animation that looks really cool, and you automatically get into perfect mode.

There are other things to do besides fight, though. In Gandalf's level, Top of the Wall, you have to constantly knock down ladders to prevent the walls from being overrun. The environment can be used also, such as fireing catapults, throwing spears, and more. This adds some to the gameplay, and it is nescessary at many times.

There are very few complaints about the game, but there are some. Some levels are overly-difficult, and I played the entire game in "easy." I can't imagine playing it in hard, or even normal. Levels such as Minas Tirith Courtyard, Pellenor Fields, and King of the Dead I must have tried at least six times each. The game isn't impossible, but quite challenging to say the least.

And also, why don't the actors voice Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli like they did in the previous game? Gandalf, Sam, and Frodo are done by the actors, but unfortunately they are not.

Here are some hints. First and foremost, you must learn to use combo attacks. And learning the bane moves wouldn't hurt.

In the level Minas Tirith: Top of the Wall, your entire objective is to knock down ladders with you physical attack. (X button for GameCube.) There is a map up in the top left that marks where ladders are. In the top right, there is another meter that measures how many orcs are on the wall. If it fills up, you fail.

In the southern gate level, you must fire two catapults to advance. These catapults are to the left.

In short, if you like LOTR or just action games in general, you will love this game. I have heard that EA is developing yet another game called the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I simply can't wait.

the return of the king, truly an epic

This game is well worth all the money. The levels range from just killing everything, to more complex battles where strategy take a role to covert-type levels of sneaking around in the shadows.
GRAPHICS= very good. only one complaint, after you beat the game you can play any level with any character, but if you play a level with a character that wasn't there in the movie, the cut scenes look odd, with invisible people and objects moving with no one to move them.
GAME PLAY= very good. long range attaks combined with close ranged attaks make for a preety goood basic combat layout. combos make things alot easier, and they really are not that hard once you get used to them.
DIFICULTY= a much bigger challenge that the two towers, or the rather appaling fellowship which I won't mention here. it helps a whole lot if you can play the two towers proficently, but it won't take long to pick up the basics. the combos are a biiiiiiiiig help. when you compare it to the two towers, you notice that there are a lot of very powerful moves compared to the ones in the TT. this is becaouse the two toweres was a simpler, shorter game and you did not need as manny powerful moves.
TWO PLAYER (crazy excitement!)= Very good, team up as such great teams as legolas and gimli, frodo and sam, and merry and pippin. no complaints!!!
By the way, the review thing is wrong!! there are NINE characters
1.Frodo
2.Sam
3.Legolas
4.Gimli
5.Aragorn
6.Gandalf
7.Merry
8.Pippin

9.farimere ( pardon the spelling!)
obviusly, some one can't count!!!
In short, buy this game!!!!! NOW!!!
Random HINT!!!, in cirith ungol, when you get to the room where all the orks are fighting in the circular part of the floor, hit L and R and dissapere, sneak past them to the stairs, kill the orks on the stairs then kill one of those fat orcs with the health bar. then run to the rope behind the now-dead ork and press Z, you cut the rope sending the ceiling down on all the orcks bellow and instily get at least 20 KILLS.

Truely The Greatest Lord of the Rings

This is the greatest Lord of the Rings game to date, but we'll have to wait for the RPG coming out, sometime. This is awesome, I had some trouble beating the first boss as Aragorn, until I had leveled up some more in the co-op mode. It's very worth the purchase, even though I got it for Christmas, but it's challenging, yet the most fun lies in the Secret Levels, in the Two Towers there was only 1, but this time there are 2, each with 20 floors, each with about a dozen or 2 dozen enemies, depending on which one you choose, very fun, very, very fun. and to the person who thinks that there are over 100,000 pages in the Lord of the Rings, there aren't, in a full paperback book there are 1192 pages, quite a difference. So, unless you stopped reading, it's worth the buy, though it is hack'n'slash, but it is a very nice game.

A good game that would keep any gamer occupied.

I'm going to make this short, sweet, and to the point. Return of The King is a sick game. Much better than the previous game by EA, The Two Towers, Return of The King include co-op mode which allows two players to play on the same level which I had hoped for this game to include. It included more than just Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli unlike the Two Towers. Little dissapointed because of difficulty because it wasn't exactly the hardest game ever, yet still a good game overall.

This game is excellent for everyone thats a LOTR freak or not. It does have blood and graphic violence, so I would reccomend it for ages 10+ But by far this is the best game of the year. Based on the box office hit movie and book by J.R.R. Tolkien.

A GOOD movie-based game...

Yor're often suprised which games are the good ones, and this is one really good game. During all the levels, your constantly fighting, so the fighting controls give you the feelling that your actually fighting. ROTK isn't one of those games where you
stand there mashing the attack button hopping not to get hit. ROTK really puts it to YOUR skill. If your good, you can go through a whole level and not get hit once, but if your really bad, you'll die at the hands of the first orc you meet. Despite this its surprisingly easy to play (especialy with Legolas).
As you finish each stage, the experince that you got in the stage to Level-up (10 Levels) goes to buy move up-grades. It is a good system, and it is quite fun to just sit down with a character and start hacking your way through enemies. There's just something addictive about the fighting.
Another thing I should mention, is that the characters fight much the way they do in the movies. Sam and Frodo attack only to get past. Gandalf uses his great power to devistate many enemies,
Aragorn fights standardly with his sword, Gimli fights powerfully but slowly with his axes, and Legolas loses none of his speed. Legolas is easily the best character especially in co-op, as you can slice up enemies, with your twin elven sabres, and in the split second it takes the next enemy to attack, you can turn around, fire and arrow at an orc trying to ambush your partner, and turn back around to smash that next enemy, all in the blink of an eye, and your controling all of it. One warning though,
once you finish a level, you can't play it again with the same character untill you finish the last level (frodo's battle with gollum above mount doom) so make sure you do it right the first time, or in the case of the path of the king(Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli) play the level with your favorite character last, so they will get the better rating and experience.
One more thing, Enemies are worth more experience the better you are fighting, there are four experience modes(Fair, Good, Exellent, Perfect), and the latter ones give A LOT more experience( in Path Of The Dead, one kill in Fair mode gives 75 EXP, but the same kill in Exellent mode gives 10,000 EXP)(or something like that)
Lastly, the nine characters are Frodo, Samwise, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Farimir, and GANDALF(about frigging time).

Graphics - 4.5/5 (occasonal frame skips during cutscenes)

Sound - 5/5 (brilliant, right out of the movies)

Controls - 4.5/5 (no jump, and playing co-op can be frustrating)

Overall - 4/5 (the first half, and most of the movie-segments, are out of the two towers not return of the king, but that is only the first half and it sticks to ROTK in the second half)
