This game is incredible!! The game isnt just for adults, I'm 14 and can understand the story perfectly. Its just like a movie with plot twists, cool characters and plenty of action. Here are some pros and cons

Pros-
-The graphics are by far the best ps2 has to offer to the gaming world.
-The weapons are incredibly realistic
-The action is very very fun with bullets wizzing by you and loud guns. Or, if you want you can sneak up on people and kill them silently.
-Tons of possibilities gives the game more replay value than any other game out there. There are multiple camos to find and a lot of secret frogs to shoot (if you shoot them all you get invisibility, im trying to find them)
-The guards are actually quite smart and call for backup.
-The game is very realistic overall because you must hunt and eat animals, cure gunshot wounds, cuts, broken bones, disease, etc.

-Cons -Theres not many that destroy gameplay
-A lot of cut scenes, this isnt as bad as Sons of Liberty, but sometimes they are useless, i usually skip through pointless ones and watch the scenes that contribute to the storyline
-The camera is very annoying, but youll get used to it. If your a slow learner with the camera and controls, youll be good with them after Virtous mission.
- not being able to move in FPS is weird, i usually play FPS like Halo or Killzone, its weird at first, but soon its not too bad of a problem

Thats my review, this is a must by game for ps2 players, its worth the 50 dollars. I beat the game once and cant wait to unlock more stuff by beating it again.

Can be better most definitely!! A Great Game!

Dear Kojima San and Konami,

I have purchased MGS3 the day it came out and finished my first round close to 22 hours. First of all this game is truly what MG is all about. Truly spectacular!!! Overall the experience of the camera angle is what puts it slightly down.. The old overhead camera angle doesn't work anymore.. Players need to see what is going around them all the time especially in the wide forrest. And the only way to let them see that is using the 360 degrees camera angle where you could navigate with the L3 anolog stick to see practically everywhere you want to see. Up down and the surroundings. Players could click the L3 to get back to the original camera angle if they want to. Put this feature in MGS3 and it will get a perfect score 10/10. With the overhead camera angle, I am sure that I am not the only one who got shot at often whithout even knowing where my enemies are shooting from. It is so difficult to see.....and frustrating at the same time. I hope MGS4 will have this 360 degrees camera feature in it. It has got to changed!!!

Much better than 2, not as good as 1

Metal Gear Solid 2 I always thought was a beautiful mess. The graphics and gameplay were spot-on, while it provided a lot of interesting characters and furthering the mythology of Metal Gear. There was just one problem: you couldn't figure it out. Wave after wave of cutscene and plot twists left you wondering what the hell? Over the course of the game, you find out a group called the Patriots are secretly controlling America, only thing is they've been dead for a century. In the words of Snake: "what the hell?" In comes 3, which actually goes back when Metal Gear was first being developed.

Story: You are Naked Snake(not literally, his code name), a CIA agent sent to rescue a nuclear scientist named Sokolov from a group called the Cobras who are using Sokolov to build a device capable of launching nuclear weapons. The Cobras are basically like 1's Foxhound or 2's Dead Cell. Over the course of the game, you find out more about Naked Snake's old mentor the Boss as well as the origin of Metal Gear.

Graphics: Metal Gear Solid 2 looked very shape-y with squares and it looked flat while this is more detailed. The jungle looks quite detailed and there's a lot to see despite the fact it's only branch and trees. The character models look better too and emote more.

Sound/Music: David Hayter returns as Snake and he's more expressive and human then the soldier badass Solid Snake. The rest are pretty good, especially the Boss, played by Lori "Diane Simmons on Family Guy" Alan. The Cobras, especially Fear and Pain have those stereotypical "evil" voices but they're not bad. The music has a nice epic score done by semi well-known composer Harry Gregson Williams of Armageddon fame. Also has a James Bond feel to it.

Gameplay: A bit of changes which makes it feel different. Since the story's set in the 60's, Mei Ling hasn't invented your Radar system which got really annoying since your only types of radar consume battery power and the enemy's green coats tended to blend into the green backgrounds. Now you use the Camoflage system where you dress up according to the surroundings. More higher the %, better you won't be seen.

You get the option in fighting of CQC(Close Quarter Combat) where you have more options when you grab an enemy: either throw him, slit his throat, interrogate him or use him as a shield. If you're like me, you just pick them off from far away and not worrying about them finding you. Your CODEC hasn't been invented yet either so you only have your radio.

One thing that has been reduced but not by much is the frequency of cutscenes and CODEC transmissions and general weirdness of that plot. There's no Colonel acting virus-like on here or double crossers and thankfully, no 10 minute Codec screens everytime you're in a new area. You can press R1 now and then during cutscenes for some neat moments like Snake staring at a woman's chest or a mysterious ghost like figure to helpful hints. It's not as overtly complicated as MGS2 or as cool as one but it's the first time I've beaten the game twice within the span of a few days so I find it strangely addicting.

Overall, it's another great entry in the series that has been rumored to be the last although I think they announced a 4. Let's hope it takes place after MGS2 so they can explain what the hell happened.

I of course rented this game first, normally a thing I do when a new game comes out that I like. Well I started playing MGS3, and I was blown away by the first hour that I played it. I almost felt like going to the store and buying it right then and there. It does suffer from the dialouge. I admit that it does goes on for a while, but thank god you have the ability to stop the talking and scan through the dialouge, making it much quicker. Where it does shine is being realistic and being beautiful. The graphics are amazing. The realism in this game is that it feels like real life. Sure I love the futuristic games such as Killzone, and other great titles, but when it comes down to it, being realistic is what makes part of the game great. If you like the metal gear solid series, then this is perfect for you. If you havent played it all, then I suggest renting it. You may like it.

Well, I just rented this game (I have limited cash, so I cannot purchase it yet) and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying it. I myself love the in-depth storyline of the MSG series (excluding the majority of MSG2). Sometimes, they can be rather bizarre, but you can't help but love it. It seems that games nowadays are trying to be more and more realistic, and we may eventually get there (excluding most of The Cobras).
