Man, I fell in love with first person shooter war games ever since I found out somebody loaded Wolfenstein onto a computer at work. Needless to say, as they progressed, they got more and more fun to play.
While, I wouldn't recommend these games for younger players, because of the violence and carnage, I would highly recommend them to mature players that may be into that type of game.
This one, in particular was my favorite, because there was quite a few missions with the "fun" waepons (sniper rifles, etc), and there wasn't too many battle arena parts, where there was so many things going on that the gameplay suffered (jerky motion, etc).
I loved this one!
Outstanding capture of the basic feel of combat confusion

There I was, ankle-deep in the ashes of a quaint and cozy Dutch family parlor, whirling at the whine of the MG42, wondering where the hell all these Panzergrenadiers were coming from as I thumped each one in the skull or chest with 30-oughts from the smoking BAR. The high-pitched zip of a sniper shot nearly threw me onto my back as I scanned for the shooter; I spotted him fast enough to watch him duck behind broken cornice to reload, but couldnýt wait him out.
ýCause I was standing in the open like an idiot, flinching with every whiz and pop, too aware of all the Red Devils falling around me and not getting up. I cursed blinding oaths, at everything-- the Krauts for being so stinking persistent, the BAR for running empty so fast, that skinny twit Monty for hatching and Ike for ever approving this godforsaken operation. I cursed the pain that erupted in my back as Panzershrek shrapnel sucked the wind outta me and then rammed it back down; that smoke and cordite burning sensation all raw in my throat. I cursed myself for being on too far from that first aid kit I decided to pass on four minutes earlier.
I cursed the wind, the sky, the sun and the dirt I was kissiný; cursed anything else that crept into my narrowing vision as I sank into rubble, wheezing and rattling with each breath in a fashion Iýd heard before but just didnýt recognize once from myself. All I could hear was the squeaking clatter of treads danger close, the chatter of that rotten driverseat '42, and the pounding of my heart. And then it all stopped.
I stubbed out my cigarette, wiped the sweat off my palms, and started it all over again.
Yes, I noticed the sensitive analog, the bugs that let the enemy stick his rifles through walls, the inequities between shot placement and damage, all that stuff. Yeah yeah yeah. It doesnýt matter. I don't care. Medal of Honor: Frontline is one of the most satisfying military experiences Iýve had since they put me on a riot line.
This game has grabbed me and will not let go. The story of the valiant defense and waste of 1 Para at Arnhem Bridge is something Iýve read over and again, something Iýve tried to empathize with by watching A Bridge Too Far countless times, although empathy for warriors in war is never truly possible, unless you are one. These were Englandýs best, an elite light paratrooper division, and they were squandered utterly in an operation marked by disasters mostly to save some face for Montgomery the underachiever. Yeah, I know everyoneýs raving over the Omaha Beach levelýI do too, itýs an incredible beginning for an incredible gameýbut itýs SO Private Ryan (not that thereýs anything wrong with that) and A Bridge Too Far is my favorite war movie of all time. I was really looking forward to playing the Holland portions of the game.
And was not disappointed. I ran from ýYard to Yardý, feeling like Sean Conneryýs Brigadier Urquhart as I rushed behind fence gates and clotheslines in the deceptively tranquil outskirts of Arnhem. Too bad that those MG42ýs were so conveniently placed on windowsills every time a Panzer showed up; it will be a strange day indeed when a game company grows cajones big enough to show weekend warriors how miserable it is to have to wait out the enemy, motionless and in total silence, for stretches of hours or days. This is the machine gun as deus ex machina-- aw, whatever...
I happily snatched up the trigger of each one and blasted those fascist crumbs into smoking rubble with a smile on my face, screaming my war cry.
Itýs the constant tension and occasional frantic minutes of chaos that Frontline maintains which make it so worthwhile, because like all the best war movies (and like war itself) it thrills and excites you, scares the crap out of you, temporarily disgusts you and ultimately forces you to decide whether the waste and horror of it all, the sacrifices of so many, were indeed ultimately necessary. I was stirred by some of the emotions I rode on while playing through this game. In ýArnhem Knightsý I lingered a little too long in a bombed-out heap of rubble enclosed by partial walls and started getting the snot knocked out of me by a seemingly endless stream of Nazis, from the rooftops to the street and all around me. All while the sad, haunted score drifted in the background. I was actually a little moved by the juxtaposition of itýthe hard cold reality of gunfire, screams and explosions all around and underneath this gentle melody, suggesting a detatchment from the scene, that part of the fighting man that wants only to hold his wife or mother in the midst of the maelstrom. I marvelled at the fact that this TOY was offering me a glimpse into what it must have been like to feel that helpless, confused, angry. Here were simulacra of the sacrifices and decisions my great-uncle (and literally millions of other men) made in Tunisia, Italy, the Low Countries and France. I came closer to an understanding that despite whatever deprivations and chaos Iýve endured as a US soldier, itýs nothing next to what this must have been like--but might wind up like someday.
Thatýs the realm of the war film being infiltrated and overcome by a video game. Itýs this craftsmanship and attention to detail that transforms a mere game into an experience, and I thank EA for letting me have it.
Oh yeah- even though I see the point and it is sometimes frustrating, people who think that spraying 30 rounds at close range from a submachine gun GUARANTEES a kill have never fired any machine guns. So calm down and AIM.

Rarely has a game thrust a player so quickly and totally into a game, an era, an FPS history lesson, than Medal Of Honor: Frontline.
If you aren't physically involved, maybe sweating, gripping the controller too tight, at the edge of your seat, or with eyes wide open in the first 6 minutes of this game, then you aren't paying attention.
Yes, this is a game. But the very first mission is akin to being in a Saving Private Ryan scene. It is intense. I do not suggest that you try and show older relatives, who may have live through this, even vicariously, the opening level of this game, due to the intensity. That being said, young people owe it to themselves to understand that D-Day was not scary because of alien monsters, laser guns, or zombies. It was frightening in a visceral way that was horrible enough to witness, much less be a part of.
This game, immediately, gives an impression and a small sliver of what it must have been like...and possibly an appreciation of what Allied soldiers endured.
(Beyond this, it is another incredible, quality game from Dreamworks and EA...the best yet... but it acts as more than that...)
Superlative!

I bought this one based on the commercial, which I haven't done since I got burned years ago by a game that looked cool but actually [stunk].
MOH:F is simply incredible. While I wouldn't use it to teach any history lessons, the technical accuracy is superb. The M1 Garand rifle looks and reacts just how it does in real life; right down to not being able to reload halfway through a clip. The reticles for the Springfield '03 and the Gehwer are exactly as they really were. The bazooka sight is spot-on.
I especially like that the enemy speaks in german, just like the original Wolfenstein 3d.
The gameplay is very good. The only complaint I can come up with is that it's difficult to aim using the analog control sticks, but that's a general beef that everyone has if they've ever played a FPS using a mouse/keyboard interface.
Enemy AI is challenging, even in the low difficulty. They'll hide behind crates and walls, firing around the barriers without exposing themselves. They'll play possum, waiting for you to walk by, then get up and start shooting again (here's a hint- if they fall but still hold on to their rifles, shoot them again)
The game is fairly short-- only 6 levels. It couldn't have taken me more than 20 hours to finish it. More experienced games will probably do so faster. And those of you who enjoy backtracking and key hunting will want to look elsewhere. MOH:F is a linear game, which basically leads you from one area to the next so you can kill more Nazis. Personally, I like those kinds of games, but some people don't. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The best Medal of Honor game EVER!

Im sure your wondering why I said it was the best MOH game ever but only give it four stars, well ill tell you. Im very dissapointed that the dead guys dissapear. If im not mistaken in MOHAA the Nazis dont dissapear. Why cant they do that in this? All in all this is a great game if it werent for that id give it five stars. By the way ther is no blood in this game because the Nazis wore so many layers of clothing that the blood didnt go through the clothing.
Waste of money

Medal Of Honor:Frontline(MOH:F) Was a good WWII shooter, but that was until Call Of Duty and Brothers In Arms came out and people forgot about MOH:F`s misrable sequal "Rising Sun".The Medal Of Honor series debuted on PS1-as simply MOH to compete with Nintendo 64`s "007 GoldenEye"(But lost)-007 GE was a then TOP AZZ game-in fact the only game to succeed it was XBox`s HALO years later,i actually concider HALO to be a true sequal to 007 GoldenEye,along with Perfect Dark and any other RAREWARE FPS game-i don`t considder any of EA`s 007 games to even be related to Goldeneye-apart from the 007 name-HALO was not made directly by RARE but it was made by most of the people who made the N64 legend.
World War II is the era of most War/Tactical Shooter games these days(MOH,COD,BIA),VietNam being second(Men Of Valor,ShellShock,Conflict:Vietnam),Modern day third(Ghost recon,SOCOM) and The Cold War third(Operation:FLASHPOINT)-The Cold War is used in Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater aswell but MGS3 is part of the stealth genre not war/tacti shooter.

I'm not a big gamer, but I'm enjoying this one so far. I bought it because it was most highly rated in "medal of honor" family.
