The music: amazing.
The gameplay: unmatched.
The story: confusing.
Try it out.
I've never met a person who didn't like it.
Even my mom enjoys playing it (she hates VGs, too).

I bought this game because everyone everywhere said it was awesome. They were right! It's a lot of fun to play, and hilarious to watch. I only gave it 4 stars overall because it's not easy to navigate as their menu style is kind of annoying. Plus, you have to have played and saved the game into a memory card at least once in order to be able to skip all the silliness in the beginning of the game. If you have no savings, you have to watch a lot of redundant stuff at startup. Otherwise, this game is really unique and really entertaining. The music is pretty catchy too.

Without a doubt, this is the strangest title ever released

Your father is the King of all Cosmos, and he gets drunk one night and destroys all the stars. Unfortunately, this is left to you, the Prince the size smaller than a thumb tack. So, to solve this problem, you use what is called a "Katamari," to roll up all objects you can find and make it as big as possibel to make the most lucious star you can.
When you see the intro for this game, you will be really puzzled at what your seeing with rainbows, butterflys, pandas, giraffes, mushrooms, and giraffes all over the place. All throughout the game, all you'll see is things you've never seen before in a video game. While all these things are strange whether it's the intro or the cinematics of the family with cubed bodies, the sound is really appropriate for each theme and level, the gameplay is fantastic with having the very first thing you picked up in the beginning visible after collecting tons of items, and the unique style of graphics set up to purposely look these odd-like 3-D figures, really stand out well. Even if you can easily beat this game, you will get hooked on it, it's very addicting. Not to mention at a price of only $20.00.
The best part to Katamari Demacy is that you can eventually pick up buildings, islands, factories, boats, giant squids, dinosaurs, flying superheros, people, animals, clouds, angels, stadiums and much more! You'll really enjoy the fun in this game, it's much different than any other game anyone's played before, and that's a really good thing. You start off to a mere 1 cm in length for your Katamari, but once you get it to be 200, 300, or even 400 meters, then the fun shall really begin.
The only two small complaints I'd have about it is that it's only for PS2, and I believe all gamers should be able to play this awesome game and the game itself does have many levels, some that give you 25 minutes time, but when you're done, trust me, you'll want more.
This is a must-buy for anyone. I guarantee you'll be content after playing this game for only a few minutes. This is definitely one of the best games for this year to come out. GO TRY IT OUT NOW!!!

The best part about this game is that its so simple, no need to spend hours learning the game, just jump right in. It's just fun overall. Yeah, it doesn't take too long to beat the game, but I still go back every now and then and play it.

I've never played a game like this before, and I don't think I'll ever find one like it. This has got to be the strangest game in America. . . but I love it! I've had it for about a month and I'm still playing it. There are thousands of things to pick up and every one has a description. In my favorite level, you start out rolling up flowers and washpans and, by the end of the level, you pick up the entire island you started on. I guarantee you will not find such a different game that will actually keep you entertained.

Weirdest game ever?

Okay, so the Japanese have given us some weird games in the past, and perhaps this isn't the weirdest, but it's definitely a shining star in the field.
It's also incredibly simple: roll a ball around, things stick to it, ball gets bigger, bigger things stick to it.
Music - great great great soundtrack. The songs will be stuck in your head, possibly at awkward times (at work, during the throes of passion, at a sibling's wedding, funerals, etc...).
Game play - a few people say it's redundant, and it is, but for some reason most people never tire of it. The challenge varies by level, and is never ridiculously hard, but allows you to challenge yourself if the level isn't enough.
Graphics - colorful and playful - this game was meant for children and probably for pot-heads, not for "realism in graphics" snobs.
Final words: Play it. It WILL make you happy.

For it's value, this game provides an incredible amount of bizarre, fun-filled entertainment.
It's a completely unique and hugely fun experience, not just for younger gamers, but for more experienced ones as well. Anyone who enjoys the current crop of Wii games will love Katamari Damacy.
It certainly isn't the deepest game ever and wears thin a bit sooner than others, but it is certainly worth the price.
Highly recommended.

Oh MAN this is fun!!!!

Do do do do do do duh do do. Katamari Damacy-y-y-y-y!!!!

First off, I can't get the soundtrack out of my head! The music in this game is simply stunning. At least simply stunningly quirky. And that pretty much describes the entire game.

This is one of those rare games that simply gets everything right, and it is difficult to describe how great it really is. Describing the specifics of the game misses the point of how incredibly fun it is. So simple, yet so amazingly addictive. You just have to play it for yourself.

The graphics and animation are rudimentary, but done well, and somehow add to the charm of the game. Who knows if the physics are accurate, but they certainly *feel* right considering the scope of things. You'll just have to play through the last level to see what I am talking about here.

Like Shadow of the Colossus, there is really no precedent for this game. And while Shadow strikes awe in the first minute of the game and keeps hitting you until the end, Katamari D starts small (*very* small) and builds through the entire game to a truly global scope.

Just finishing the game is quite easy if you don't mind accepting the bare minimums and facing the scorn of the ridiculous King of the Cosmos. But the scope of the game is much more open than that. You can always try to add a few more millimeters (or meters) onto your previous best Katamari, or roll up bigger and bigger cows.

If you are like me and would rather play Ratchet and Clank than the latest boring yearly update to Madden, you should try this.
