If you're looking for a reasonably priced, enojyable, silly, off-the-wall game, Katamari Damacy is spectacular. Graphics are sufficient, because it's the gameplay and general concept that makes the game fun. You start out with grabbing small, everyday objects like pencils but, build up to eventually picking up islands.
High Replay value too, as it monitors every item you pick up, the size of your Katamari [Ball] and the total percentage of items that you collected. Extra "secrets" add another element of fun to the game.
Good fun for all ages. The only downside is it's length. The game is a little shorter, it just leaves you waiting for a sequal! For the price, its a great buy.
This game defies description...

...and it doesn't have to! This is indeed one of the best PS2 games out there! If you like weird games, rolling clay, or even being able to terrorize towns, countries, and even the whole world, then this is indeed your game.
Graphics: nicely done
Sound: japanese music kicks (...)!
Fun: Katamari Damacy will make you wonder how you had fun without this game!
Replay Value: off the charts
Other: This game will make you confused when you start. I only wish it was longer...
Yuck

If you have not played this game, it is basically the video game equivalent of 52 card pick up. There is a reason it is selling for only 19 bucks, it is short, it looks bad and is not very much fun to play. You basically are introduced by some lame story where you have collect trash and build stars. The characters who do this look terrible, and you are expected to basically read about 10 minutes of dialogue before you start to do anything remotely interesting. For a lack of better description it is too Japanese and too weird for most people. I know people have enjoyed the game for the creative use of controls and simplicity of the game but what about every other component of this game, the camera - terrible, the story - aweful, game length - short, fun - for about 5 minutes. Some people might enjoy this game but this definetely falls in the rent but don't buy category regardless of price.
MY KIDS HATED It!!!!!

Before I order PS2 Games for Christmas, I always check out the reviews and most of the time order games by a lot of positive reviews....I ordered this game for my 10 & 11 year olds and they absolutely hated it....Said it was the stupidiest and most boring game they have ever played/seen....So when we had a bday party, I had a few of their friends, ages 9-13 play it, and they all said it was a really dumb and uneventful game.....I COULDN'T EVEN GIVE THIS GAME AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, if I could have gone with 0 stars thats what this game would have gotten.....One Star is way too many.....
Strangest, shortest game I've ever played... yet quite fun

I saw this game months and months ago sitting on the shelf at Best Buy and remember thinking how strange the cover looked with a big ball of crap and some cows on the cover. Then I went to this website looking for possible games to buy and saw it again. I read some of the reviews and read some of the other stuff on it but I still wasn't convinced I wanted to buy a game where you roll objects up.
Then, a few months later, my sister saw this game at Toys R' Us when looking for something to blow her report card money on. She thought the cows and the big ball of crap looked like a lot of fun so she bought it.
I decided a bit ago to let go of my foolish pride and try it out, and I'm glad I did. Very few things are funnier than seeing people and animals scream and wiggle around as you roll them up, and it was fairly fun.
I have beaten the game and I'm still unsure of what the storyline was exactly... something about a Japaneese family whose dad was going to the moon... but the story ended up unfinished and rather idiotic... which was actually fairly funny.
If youre unsure wheter or not to get this you probably should go ahead and buy it, though the game is VERY short and easy, and the graphics arent exactly like a Final Fantasy cutscene. But it is fun and you will be singing the dorky theme song to yourself at one point or another, and you will love Katamari.
Nice and fun for all family

I play this game with my siblings. This is a fun game to all of us. Story mode of the game is fun and challenging. Battle of two players is also fun. But the game seems too short. You can finish the game in a week, but this game is still enjoyable after you finish the game!!!
play this game.

this is a very fun game that will make games where you kill things seem realy stupid. kind of like when Nirvana first hit your cerebral cortex and it made hair metal seem retarded. yeah... now i cant play devil may cry. this is a fun game that will change the way you think about games. in the same way tetris did in the 80's.
Really stupid

It's original, that's for sure, but that doesn't mean it's good. It's not. It get monotonous very quickly, it's tedious, and it's just not very entertaining. The graphics are PS1 quality. There are a lot of great games you can buy for $20 -- this isn't one of them.
not for everyone

I purchased Katamari Damacy for my grand daughter, after reading some of the reviews that really praised this game. This has got to be the worst game that I have in my Playstation 2 collection. And I have over 100. There is no plot. My grand daughter absolutely hates it. Even though it is not that expensive. Playstation should pay customers to play this silly game. My advise is to pass over this game and add the cost of it to a much better game.
