a reason for its popularity

There's a reason everyone loves this game- there's a lot of exciting action! The popularity of this game is well-deserved too, because you can do so many things in this game that it's almost ridiculous. Driving around is a blast, and the many weapons you can use such as shovels, baseball bats, golf clubs, pistols and shotguns truly makes this one incredibly fun and revolutionary game. It's a game you have to own if you're a fan of video games.

I bought this game 5 days ago and when i finally got it it was missing a pice of plastic in the middle so that i could not play the game and the case was also damaged

Enjoyable fun, but not game of the year material.

Ok, this game is VASTLY overated. Not to say it is bad, it's actually pretty fun, but in my humble opinion, it has a been there, done that feel. Some may say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!", and this is true, but the GTA series was flawed to begin with. GTA 3 in my opnion was a really good game. I didn't love it as much as many others, but it was new and showed great potential. Then came Vice City. Wow. That game........SUCKED!!!!! I hated it. Still do. Now there is San Andreas, which sports ALL OF THE SAME DAMN PROBLEMS THE FIRST ONES HAD. Graphics are Dreamcast quality, and the environment, though HUGE, seems quite bland. The missions get repetitive, and the overuse of cursing plagues an otherwise good script. I am not offended by cursing, but this much lacks any realism what so ever. The game is fun in short doses, but I can't stand playing it any longer than a max of 3 hours.

Here is a link to a credible independant reviewing source through SA. They don't have the financial ties to the big companies that IGN and the other reviewing sites have, so they cut through most of the hype that companys want to generate for a game.

I know this is not a forum but what certain people have posted has prompted me to respond. First of all, if youare going to bash a game, why don't you research it and get the name right first of all. Secondly, how can a game be targeted at children fourteen and under when it is using nostalgia from a decade that these children didn't even live in to sell to customers. The target is people who were coherant and could talk when N.W.A. was causing controversy and people who enjoy the series. Thirdly, you want kids to quit playing video games and to start reading classic books. Okay, how 'bout they read Frankenstien, the fact that he kills a child is irrelevent I guess. Or how about the Scarlet Letter, there is no adultery in there I assume. How abought Catcher in the Rye, The fact that Holden only begins an encounter with a street walker must make that okay. Right? I think that the best things MAVV can do is stop wasting their (and everyones) time by going to meetings about how to censor someones art and sit down to spend some quality time with their kids and teach them valuable life lessons like how to survive in society and what is wrong and what is right. They need to make sure that their child isn't playing violent video games if they are 7 years old, but remember, that is one of the difficulties of parenting --The PARENT --Not an orginization-- makes the decision about what is right for their child and they make sure their choises actually follow through. If people like Ms. MAVV actually talk to thier kids then maybe they wont be so mentally unstable when they grow up and shoot up a fast food restaurant. By The way, the game is going to be awesome.

Yeah, it's that good.

When Vice City came out, it blew my mind. The fact that Rockstar made a game with a similar play-style that still absolutely runs CIRCLES around Vice City is quite impressive. I'm not a video game geek, but this game was more than worth it. In addition to the gratuitous violence, you also get to play dress-up, which is great.

I have to say that there are more options than Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City combined. Great graphics and more choices, more game strategies and challenges. The minus is that all characters look the same like the predecessors. I was hoping for the most unique characters that all look different, like in the real world and that they don't end up looking like clones of one another. The scenery is absolutely breath-taking with realistic cars of different colors and models. The horn sounded though as it came from an electric yamaha piano which I think it did. I would play this game all again and again since it is very addicting. I also think the cops should look different as well for they all look the same. Also I would like to see firefighters come out of their firetrucks as the parademics did from their ambulances. The story telling and the music from the soundtrack was exceptional.

Yeah this game is in the ghetto Southren Cali (worst in the west) but theres a lot more ghettos here. Like in South Bronx, South Chicago, East Columbus, East St. Louis, Somewhere in Philly, Detroit espacilly. So it's just a new flavor to the series.
