Let's review the basics: Sin's gone, Yuna's a sphere hunter and a well known celebrity, Tidus has vanished but a sphere was found that contains footage of someone who looks like him, Yuna searches fore more like it. That's about as complicated as this game get's. It just isn't up to par with FFX, and it's the plot people have to blame. FFX was fresh, was sadly realistic, and centered around polititions and some strange religion which banished machines. X-2, however, was so poorly thought out that it seemed like a mere shadow of X. Square Soft soiled the name of a great game by turning it into some strange rip-off of Charlie's Angles (prove me wrong). The only reason I gave X-2 such a high rating is because of the graphics and the ability you have to chang a character's meaning during battle; I have to admit, it was entertaining.

I'm sure many people have looked at this title and thought...Great another FF game to play. However if you are loking for indepth storyline and game play we all have come to associate with the Final Fantasy name you will be disapointed. The majority of the game is sidequests. Although the new battle system is fun and a good idea, one wonders why square didn't just make a new game just for it instead of trying for a sequal. The main characters are weak at best. As with most girl characters in any RPG realm.
A sad change for me was that they took out all the music you associate with the FF games and replaced it with bad pop type music. I was suprised to see that even the winning battle theme was removed.
Even with all that it was fun to shpere hunt and check out what all the old character group was up to.

I admit I was skeptical when I first popped in my shiny new Final Fantasy X-2 disc. While I thought the ending of X was open enough to invite a sequel, considering the inevitable massive politcal restructuring, putting all that world-changing in the hands of three teenage girls was a bit dubious in my book... Enough on initial reactions, here's an actual review:
After the opening sequence, there comes and instant realization that the tone is going to be considerably lighter than any other Final Fantasy game. Gone are Uematsu's intense orchestrations, and in are happy-poppy-fun tunes... constantly. You're in an airship (boopity-doop-doop-doop), then wandering Luca (dum-deedleedy-bip-bop), and then a quick stop over to the airship before heading to the calming shore of Besaid (bip-bop-tingly-taptaptap). Happy-fun is okay every once in a while, I mean I've enjoyed games like Klonoa and other happy little tales. But there's a reason Klonoa isn't 40 hours long: a sweet happy tale can not hold up for that long without being, at times, vomit inducing.
The main story itself isn't too bad. And there are a few little dark spots, but pieces of Yuna's story come few and far between. It's in the endless sidequests where the story starts to drag. They're fun for a little while (who doesn't want to help monkeys fall in love?), but you soon realize that you'll spend over 80% of the game retracing the same areas over and over again, especially if you want to finish the game with 100% completion.
The game certainly has its up points, mainly the new battle system. I'll spare you the description, but just know that battles can become extremely fast and chaotic in a fun sorta way. It makes some of the spells and abilities kind of useless, though, since so much of the battles relies on pure speed, and many abilities just aren't worth charging up. But on the whole, the battle-system is very fun.
To sum it up, this game can really go either way. Its not the dramatic tale that any of its predecessors were, but it does have a certain charm all to its own that makes it worthy of checking out. You should probably rent it first and see if you like the first hour or so. If its too light-hearted for your tastes, don't bother buying it, since you won't get your first dramatic scene for another 30 hours or so.

Personally, I think this game is a disgrace to Squaresoft's reputation for its famous RPGs. The fact that the new composer abandoned the traditional style of music the previous games had is one of the reasons I give this 3 stars. I'm also disappointed that the original Final Fantasy victory theme had been ditched in this game. I understand that this game was designed to appeal to both guys and girls by making the lead characters female, yet having guys interested because of their outfits. However, because of its flaws, FFX-2 is suitable to neither group. In some parts of the game, things get too girly for most guys to tolerate. At least Yuna, Rikku, and Paine don't puke out that "Girls rule and boys drool" sexist s---.* At the same time, the fact that they are dressed like prostitutes (Rikku, most of all repels female gamers. The only good things I can say about this game is that the storyline is good, as well as the graphics and artwork. I also liked the new Dresssphere system that allows you to change your outfit and abilities in battle.
*Before getting this game, I thought Yuna, Rikku, and Paine would be so obsessed with "girl power", they would shoot or stab any male who crossed their path, be he friend or foe. Thankfully, this is not so.

This is a MUST have RPG, First of all the story is great, the characters are great, and the graphics are just amazing. I have to admit I didnt think this game would be that great cause of the all female cast, and because there is only 3 playable characters.....but I was wrong, this game is just simply amazing from its awesome story, to its awesome graphics this game is a must have for any RPG fan or Final Fantasy fan

(...). I thought that since ff10 was such an excellent game maybe this would be a matching game. I knew a head of time it was an all girl party but I figured that well maybe that wouldn't be so bad. What I found I enjoyed most was the ability to change jobs in battle. The battle system I expected to see would be like ff10 but it was more like previous ff titles. The story did get thrown off a bit from all of the side quests you can do. But i kept playing. 1 disappointment was at some points everything got all girly on me no offence. The story makes sense since Yuna loved Tidus to go find him. Though I haven't completed the game yet due to the stopping of playing I'm close. nI do however recommend it if your patient.
