No other Dragonball game comes close!

Without a doubt this is the absolute best of the Budokai series. DBZ 3 does an excellent job of recapturing the speed and intensity of the television series.

Graphically the game is beautiful with cel shading that's cartoonishly believable. It's like watching the show. Very colorful charachters and enviroments, the game almost feels like a living cartoon. The complete destruction of levels also make a return from Budokai 1 is welcomed. Extremely large attacks will cause the camera to pan out away from the planet to see the energy well up off the surface. A really nice added touch since it was left out of Budokai 2 altogether. The music for the game fits as well. A little less silly than the previous games. The music is trying to put you in the fighting mood. It's certainly not out of place.

The Dragon Universe mode allows the player to experience the saga of Z from different charachter prospectives. Allowing players to fly around the Z world and collect Dragonnballs and move the story along at there pace. As you fight your fighter will gain exeperience, points are awarded and can be used enhance given attributes for your warrior.

Now for what makes this game so much better than it's predessors. The gameplay. Unlike before, this game allows for quick teleporting as an offensive and defensive manuever. Knocking your opponent away a quick button press will teleport your fighter behind them for a second, third and fourth hit. The defensive player or the one getting knocked around can also teleport if they time there button presses correctly. Fighters can also dodge attacks by pressing the guard button just as the attacks about to land. Sounds difficult to pull the moves off but it is actually pretty easy. The Dragon Rush allows for executing multiple attacks ala paper rock siccors button pressing. I find the computer to be a little too good at matching my button presses at times. Dragon rush also allows for pulling out most charachters ultimate attacks eliminating the need for too complex button presses.

The only problem I have is not the amount of charachters but who's in the game. Love the addition of Broly and Cooler, but why Cell Jr and the Seibemen. Neither influence the game in any real way. Also Dragonball GT has little representation in the game. SSJ4 Goku, Vegeta, Gogeta and the last Shadow Dragon thats it. Pan, Majin Uub, Babi, Ruldo and Super 17 with the above would have been enough from GT. Also Android 13 and Lord Slug could have been added from the movies. Videl and Hercule though they are part of the show have little to no chance against the other who can shoot ki blast at a distance. Some people may hate me for this but those two could have been removed from the fighter roster and have used those spaces for other more potent fighters (13 and Slug).

Overall a must have for Dragonball fans. Not a mainstream fighter and it doesn't try to be. Those looking for flashy over the top fighter with easy to pick up gameplay look no further. Budokai 3 just might turn those unknowing into Dragonball Z/GT fans in no time.

my god, now one has reviewed this yet. it's the best! it's so fun flying around the planet. the game is way longer than the last 2. new characters include uub, broly, cooler, omega shenron, kid goku, and u can finally go SS4! even powering up looks sweet. transformations have more detail, and you can fly at any time you want! got this the first day. if u like the first 2, this one is better than both 1 and 2 combined and then a lot more.

I'm back, and I have found more information. I can now confirm at least 40 characters. They are: Goku,Gohan(kid,teen,saiyaman,adult),Goten(kid,teen),Vegeta,Trunks(Future,Present),Piccolo,Krillian, Yamcha,Tein,Raditz,Nappa,Dodoria,Zarbon,Guldo,Recoome,Burter,Jeice,Ginyu,all forms of Frieza,King Cold,Android 16,17,18,19,20,all forms of Cell,Supreme Kia,Videl,Hurcule,Puipui,Dabaura,Majin Buu,Evil Buu,Super Buu,Kid Buu,Cooler,Broly,Bardock,King Vegeta,Kid Goku, and even more GT characters. I am almost 100% sure of these characters.
Confirmed Information
Story mode now exists.It has been claimed to be more detailed and very accurate. However, very interesting information has come to my attention. Story mode may be the same thing as Dragonball Universe mode which lets you fly,walk, and travel freely around a planet such as Earth or Namek. By doing that you can challenge or confront enimies just as in the series. Story mode could be a different mode or story mode could be Dragonball Universe.Whatever, but its cool either way.
Dueling mode has been greatly advanced. Players can now teleport behind there enemy's back. The aura has been changed to even better what the series did. The cell-shaded graphics have been improved a bit. Colors of energy,blasts,and explosions and been improved so much it almost pops out of the screen. All of this is great but the real change was in the dodging area of fighting. Somehow you can now press a button or button combination to dodge waves of punches,kicks, and ki blasts. Example: your enemy begins to start a punching combo that will end in with your doom in a energy way, so as this happens you begin to press the dodge button, your enemy throws everytihng he has at you but continues to miss, after punching air 15 times your enemy is very vulnerable,so you transport behind him and blast him from behind. The last known new part to dueling is flying free. All you have to do is press the up arrow to get in the air, and then from there use the arrows to go left, right,higher, or lower.
World Tournament has been changed a little, but it is unknowned how much or how.
Practice has been minorly teaked and so has the new Survivor mode which has been taken from Babidi's Space Ship.

There may be a new type of Dragon World mode called Dragon Road which lets you build your characters powerlevel,defense,offense, and speed.

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 is much more complete than the first two combined.By December many people may label it has one of the best foghting game of all time.

hey were did u see that trailor i wanna see it so bad its not even funny. I love dbz so much. i have both of there games and im going to get this one when it comes out. the players id like 2 see is the usual players plus brolly,bojack,dodoria,zarbon,rest of ginyu force,cooler,garlic junior,uub,pikon,janemba,the guy from movie 12,the goku lookalike in movie 3,pan,baby,and alot of other characters from GT.ohh ya bardok and his crew.im getting this game when it comes out no matter wut. see ya. bye

This is a VERY good game.

Graphics 10/10

Great graphics, look just like in the show. The background is good, and the energy effects are GREAT! When somebody blocks an energy attack, there is a skid mark on the ground.

Story Mode 6/10

Good design, but if you don't know the DBZ storyline you can get lost.

Gameplay 10/10

When you just get this game, it seems like all of the characters are the same, but with different models. The only string you do is p,p,p,p,e has that does 4 punches and then fires a death move. Has you get better, you realize there are no alike characters. You can do better combos then just p,p,p,p,e. Every character has different pros and cons, and there combo platform are all different. There are jugges, cancels, and stuns which you will get used to has you get really good.

Overall, This deserves a 9.9/10.

This is a legendary game with a legendary saiyan in it...

I cant believe it budokai 3! Its coming out in november and im so excited hehehehe im getting 55$ from my mom for raking the yard haha anyways this game is gonna rock i saw a pic on dragonballz.com of brolly walking slowly at cooler in legendary form and there was some little black lines coming off brolly and his hp gauge was full and coolers was low and he just shot a death beam or something cuz the screen was black behind it... this game is so gonna be good having super saiyan 4 and all and brolly i love him not a gay way tho i used to ALWAYS look for pictures of him on the internet and all this other crap hes so powerful im his BIGGEST fan in all of earth and some new weird @$$ fusions in the game like goku and hercule fused haha i used to kick @$$ with hercule haha anyways it goes into gt and some guy said that it only went to buu prolly lying or just a idiot or got a bad version haha and I want this game soooooooo! bad i want to be brolly all the time and kill goku etc. I cant wait I cant wait NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO but be patient cause every stall means its gonna be that much better like halo 2 lol :) well yeah well cooler is also in it they are movie characters I know alot about brolly for instance hes in 3 movies 8 10 and 11 he doesnt die in the first one he lands on earth in a coma goten is born gohan grows up goku dies etc but goten wakes him up after the bojack movie the movie 10 brolly will come out he goes on a rampage and nearly kills Videl Trunks (Kid) Goten and gohan but goten and gohan and --- goku kill him by.... dont read this unless you want to spoil it hahah

by a 3 wave kamahamaha threw the sun but he comes back as a clone in movie 11 hes perfectly fine in a tub exept he breaks out and they throw some sludge on him which melts his skin and then he looks like a swamp thing with corn sticking out of its head... ruined his cool and saiyan pride... i am so mad anyways they kill him easy way you can read this cause its not a suprise.... rain.... rain kills him... common rain... beckett dbz collector magazine said this movie 11 sucked exept I still want it for my collection hehehe.... back to budokai 3 its probabley gonna smoke need for speed underground San andreas i think its gonna be an interesting matchup between halo 2 and budokai 3 this will smoke any game ever born for the ps2 year I can see MOST of you love it well thats all by the way I cant wait to unlock all like 100 chars it even has the most minor characters in it from the least seen episodes haha well thats all im 11 years old im not no immature 2nd grader or 3rd grader.

I cant wait for this game to come out. You can teleport behind your opponent, customize a character(make it stronger in a special mode), play against other people worldwide with your custom character, and even launch an attack like the kamehameha against your opponents kamehameha. Luckily, it won't have the bad storyline like budokai 2 had. it will be like 1 where it actually followed the show's. There are tons of new characters, a new ki meter thing, and for all you people that hate those people that block all the time, they can only do it so much with the new fatigue system which causes them to become vulnerable when they block too much. Theres also a mode your character can go in that dramatically increases attack and lets him/her use their ultimate attack. of course, this mode has a downside. it causes a lot of fatigue.

I Cannot wait for this game( im gonna pwned my friends so bad >=])

I bought this game off of ebay a week and a half ago and just recieved it earlier today. I was playing it non-stop and i'm feeling really anxious righting this so im gonna make this as short as i can. This game is aWeSome, and im only in the freiza saga so far. The aura's are very detailed and the game has more enhanced graphics. The fighting system is great, the Dragon Universe mode is a very awesome mode where u fly around (kinda like buu's fury in a way) but flowwing the story. This mode WaYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY off the charts better than Dragon World or w/e that crap was in Budokai 2. I suggest buying this iMMEDITATLEY or Pre-Ording it for those who its not out for yet. This game so far is simply AMAZING!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Well I'm gonna go back to playing c ya :D

Got the game yesterday - Best DBZ game ever! You can teleport behind your opponents to deal severe damage, Dragonrush mode allows you to use special attacks(ie: Goku's super dragon fist and warp kamehameha),& can dodge you opponets punches and hicks easily. Dragon universe is awesome - pick your character and fly around the world looking for opponents, dragonballs, and viewing famous DBZ storyline. Graphics are off the hook, esp. ki auru's and the environments(much better than ver. 1 or 2). Super Saiyan 4 is the coolest technique. Only downside is that certain characters (ie; omega shenron, cooler 7 SS4 Gogeta) seem impossable to unlock. (...)

First of all,i hope you know that the rumors of baby, pan, the shadow dragons, and some members of ginyu force are NOT true. the only shadow dragon that is there is omega shenron. the only ginyu force people that are there are recoome and ginyu(like always).
