I've been playing World of Warcraft now since closed beta. I've got a chance to see the world evolve to some extent and I can tell you that I love this game as do most who pick it up. The one con people always seem to bring up is the paying 15$ a month to play but having been a player of many previous MMO games it doesn't shock me. I can easily justify spendng 15$ per month on something that keeps my interest. Going to the movie theater alone once or maybe twice in a month would cost you that and thats far less entertainment for your money.
The game plays beautifully even on slightly aging computers. You don't need the latest and greatest to enjoy this game but it certainly helps. The graphics may look a little more cartoonish but the characters are so well animated and the world is so fleshed out that you really feel like you are a part of it. I tried out EQ2 on a friends account briefly and just didn't get that feeling with it. The combat in WoW doesn't feel monotonous, trade skills are simple but useful, music is orchestrated and top notch... not much else to say. The game is very balanced for PVP... more so than any other MMO before it.
If you are trying to decide between EQ2 and WoW and you are a previous EQ player as I am, then you owe it to yourself to atleast check this game out on a friends account or something before you take the plunge to EQ2. Both are excelent games for sure but in my mind, WoW has come out on top.

Simply a fantastic game! I've never before played an online rpg, although I have played many off-line rpg's, and this game is by far the most entertaining and fun. Whether its playing quests with your friends, venturing into unknown lands, or simply customizing your character, this game will always keep your interest. For all those who enjoy playing rpg's, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

I just started playing World of Warcraft a couple of months ago. I've been a video game fan since I was a kid and am amazed at how huge the worlds are and how much there is to discover and do. I play it a couple nights a week with some work buddies and it's really fun. They just added voice chat so now I'll burn less cell phone minutes conference calling with them. This is an addicting game so if you have no self-control, don't get hooked.

I've been playing this game for about a year now. I've heard that it can addictive so I do not allow myself to play for more than two hours at a time, or more than once per day. Anyway I'll just say it is so well polished. Everything works wonderfully, you can play with your friends or new people with ease. It is very easy to learn, and with all of the skills, talents, wealth, and abilities that you can learn your character will always be fun.
The in game world events are fun to watch and participate in. I highly recommend it. And the 15 bucks a month is a mega value for entertainment. Especially when you consider the price of a movie ticket.

First off, I'm from the Guild Wards faction and regardless of whatever "bad blood" there might be between the two, I still love GW.
However, after getting Season 10 of South Park on DVD and loading up the 14-day trial, I must say that at first, I was not that impressed with WoW. It felt like a grind quest to me and not much of a story line like GW.
However, I broke down after the 14-days and decided to purchase the game for $20 since that would give me 30 more days to try it out and if at the end of that, it didn't work out, I didn't feel like I lost out on too much.
Well, I'm almost done with my 30-days and I've just updated my WoW account to start charging my CC. After playing solo for awhile, what I noticed that I love about WoW is in the middle of quest, if you find yourself over your head, you can ask for help and people can join up to help out. In GW, this is not possible. You would have to quit the mission, go back to an outpost and then try and team up there. Not so with WoW and that's something I like. The ability to just team up right in the middle of it all to get through some difficult parts. Really a blessing in disguise for me.
Also, even though WoW may be "cartoony", it actually draws me into the world a lot. Yes, maybe GW's graphics look more "realistic", but WoW's graphics just seem to have a sense of awe about them and they really create a fantasy world that you only wish could exist in real life!
Overall, WoW is addictive and you can lose yourself for hours. I myself started a quest and only after I looked up did I notice that 3 hours had past. Yikes! That's just how enthralling this game can be.
I'll still play GW because both games offer me something different that I love about them. But currently, WoW has been taking up most of my time.

World of Warcraft takes the mmorpg genre to the next level. With rich storylines in every quest and dungeon, a high level of interactivity not only with the environment itself but with other players from around the world with over 10 million users online. An addictive gameplay style, with different kinds of races and classes to choose from, a leveling system that upgrades your stats and a whole bunch of skills that can be learned by each class. You can gain experience to level up by completing quests and even at maximum level you can keep doing raids to gain better equipment, higher reputation, and hours of fun. a must have for computer gamers.

When a friend told of WOW about 3 years ago, I blew it off as he gets excited about games a bit too easily. However, as each year went by, he kept talking about this game and how great it was. So great that he stopped buying a new game once or twice a month as he had been.
So I tried it. In fact not only did I like it, but my daughters liked it and wanted to play often enough that we were competing for time. They have their own account now!
Looks like a kids game, but great play value for this 40 something.
