A great game.

The missions and activities are along the same lines as the GTA series. A detailed map to explore, the same great humorous slant, swimming, skate-boarding, costume collecting. The only negative point, is the desire for more of this game. It is truly worthy of a larger sequel(PC?), longer seasons, bigger world(San Andreas size?), perhaps a choice of beginning character types, and multiple endings... Anyway I only rented it, but it will definately be one of the few games I actually purchase for the PS2.

THE BEST!!!!!!

The game is well written, the concept and the way the game develops is interesting and it honestly is one of the first games I could not stop playing. My only complaint is that a lot of the missions are pretty simple to complete and the game seems to end abruptly. Overall, a lot of fun to play.

word up, coolio!

Welcome back to highschool, and who better too welcome you than Rockstar themselves.

Upon leaving for their honeymoon, your mother and new stepfather, drop you off at a little place called Bullworth Academy.

From here on out you'll be introduced to: cliques, prefects, classes, teachers, the police, girlfriends and Gary: the sinister, cynical friend of your's who, for some reason, always seems like he's helping you for another purpose.

The game of Bully itself, is a mix between The Warriors (fighting style, sanbox feel) and GTA (missions/objectives).

I was surprised when I noticed the Teen Rating, but was not let down. What you'll find here folk's, is not that of death, blood, stripclubs, or (very) foul language, but a great sandbox action/adventure title with (some) language, inventive weapons, inventive ways of transportation, hours of hilarious dialogue, TONS of clothing (?), tagging, kicking soccer balls, dribbling basketballs, throwing footballs, picking up snow wherever you see it, giving swirlies, stuffing kids into lockers/trash cans, saving photographs, and of course, TONS of mini-games.

Throughout the game, the walls of your room will be litered with different objects that you've achieved by completing certain tasks.

You'll unlock other areas for saving locations.

The world of Bully is split into several parts: Bullworth Academy (academy, girls and guys dorms, library, gym, football field, basketball courts, pool, preppy house), Downtown (stores, townies hangout, comic book shop), The Town (several stores, boxing gym, preppies hangout), The Neighborhoods (houses), The Slums (stores, greaser hangout), The Carnival (rides, freakshow, mini-games, go-kart race) and The Factories.

I would say that the concept of Bully is nothing new, but the style is. If you're a fan of Rockstar you would probably enjoy this game. If you're shunned by the controversy that follows Rockstar, then you should give this one a chance..... it may surprise you.

Nothing original in the gameplay, but a great game still

I really like this game, the story telling and the town you can explore (although I would have liked more added in the way of sandbox play), the game play is very similar to GTA, but the story is more intriguing, mainly because anyone who didn't think high school "was the best time of my life" can relate. Even after completing the story I had fun things to do but most of the game is in the missions, and I'm not able to waste hours having mindless fun the way I could in GTA never really achieving anything more then seeing what I could get away with.

It gets props for bringing most of the fun of GTA into a less violent and more tongue-in-cheek environment. If someone wanted to get a game similar to GTA but without the brutal violence, this would be the game to recommend.

Why is this acceptable?

"Bully" is a game that can at times be pretty fun to play, but there are certainly times when it is not difficult to feel guilty for playing it. I would strongly advise anyone against placing this game into the hands of the impressionable or impressionable bullied teenagers in their lives.

This game perpetuates hate and stereotypes on many different levels. The game's protagonist Jimmy is a far cry from a hero or even a good kid. Although other kids are picking on him, he is often expected to fight them in this game. Truth be told, you can't finish the game without beating someone up or hurting people--but you can finish it without ever having helped someone in a cleanly heroic way (i.e. no fighting.) Some of the non-mandatory "errands" in the game even have you bullying people. While it is true that no one dies in the game (to my knowledge thus far--I am 40% into the game) people certainly do get hurt. Most of the missions incorporate various forms of violence, ranging from fist-fights to outright theft and vandalism.

"Bully" touches on many sensitive issues in very insensitive ways. Issues ranging from alcoholism, suggestive themes, mental illnesses, and more are poked fun at on various occasions. Inappropriate smatterings of swear words and innuendo can be heard during the course of the game. The female characters in the game are all portrayed very frivolously. On the whole, they lack any sort of characterization and have no depth whatsoever. They are all fixated on finding love--especially with Jimmy. This is yet another video game that objectifies women. When will this stop being okay?

The most offensive part of the game thus far is that one of the four major cliques in the game harbors the same name as a derogatory racial term (people who have played this game will know what I mean.) In the game, it is used as common language--just as common as the term "Nerds" or "Jocks." I am surprised there is not a massive outcry over this. How it is acceptable that no research behind the history of said name could have been done is beyond me. I have noticed that the game jacket refrains from mentioning the names of the cliques on the back cover. Perhaps this is why...

The formula of the game is just right (freeform navigation, game play that is not too difficult)--but the content is all wrong. What makes this game potentially dangerous is that while it sends forth hateful messages, it can also be fun to play at times. While I don't think that all video games are causing all of the world's problems, I would advise that this game be kept out of the hands of teenagers who are currently being bullied, even more so for impressionable teenagers. Better safe than sorry, since the themes perpetuated in this game are so negative.

Surprisingly boring game

I tend to love sandbox-games, especially from Rockstar, but this game is surprisingly boring. I think it's because it's rating "T" and doesn't do anything extreme or interesting, it's way too tame.

If you are 10 years old it's probably awesome, but if you have been playing the GTA3 series since it came out, and have played games like Saints Row and love the grittiness of some of these more mature sandbox games, skip this, it will bore you.

This game sux for a number of reasons:

1. It`s a ripoff of GTA

2. it`s a ripoff of The Warriors

3. it`s a ripoff of Manhunt

P.S. come to think of it all those elements (free rome, fighting, stealth) make this game more awsome; so you know what?

I`M GIVING IT A FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the best rockstar game out!

This game ROCKS! You can do anything you want! If you wanna skip class, skip it. If you wanna push a nerd in a locker, push him. If you wanna give someone a swirly, flush away. All in all, YOU NEED THIS GAME!

Whoa, this rox more than your mom!

lol! lmao!! ha ha ha!!! No i`m not laghing at my lame joke, its the awsome stuff you can do to nerds in this game! This realisticly portraits how kids REALLY are, how school REALLY is (a living hell) plus, with so many side missions, minigames, and things to spend your money on; (cloths, comic books, hair-cuts, roller costers, [which are pointless] gambling. [betting on midget boxing matchs is my favorite]) This game could never end......i mean, wow.

Rockstar is awsome!

cheers.
