most realistic FPS ive ever played

no game in the world matches up to this game. i have only played through 2 missions and i love it more than any other. the guns are beatiful. the graphics and sounds are indescribably realistic. that is all i can say you HAVE to play it for yourself to really get what im telling you. rent it, wait until the price goes down to 20 dollars to get a good deal and buy this AMAZING game.

This is probably the best shoot em'up I played since Goldeneye for the N64. The story is about a soldier being interrogated by higher officials for participating in missions he supposedly didn't have clearance for. And your relivin' the missions through his story's via a first person view. The best feature about the game to me is the controls. I didn't find no real learning curve, basically just pick up and play. It has a sniper mode and you can zero on your targets. Really its like playing Goldeneye again. There are 3 difficulties ranging from easy to hard. When you beat all the stages you unlock the features for that mode. Such as unlimited ammo for every weapon you pick up. So try to imagine how much fun it can be running through stages with a rocket launcher and unlimited ammo.
The stages are pretty interactive, you can blow up just about every thing. There are stages where you will engage in a serious fire fight and your doing it with help. The CPU is very, very helpful on your part. So you are not fighting alone at all. And most of those stages, especially in the harder modes, you must have patience or you will die alot.
My only beef about this game, is that it can be so unrealistic, to the point where its frustrating. I have put an entire magazine of 7.62 into the enemies chest and shoulder area at close range and far, and they sometimes didn't die. 5 rounds of anything 5.56m or bigger is overkill. Anything more than that is human slaughter. Still, I recommend this if your into blowin' things up and death on a massive scale.

This game has been the best for the 1st person shooters I have played since Halo. Graphics are awesome for the ps2 and the story line was superb. This is a must get for your ps2 if you love 1st person shooters, also the controls are great with the game. I would give it more then 5 out of 5 if I could. I hope this helped anyone out if you weren't able to decide. Note Some language and of course theres violence. not sure if wanted for underaged kids.

I'm a big fan of the first person shooters all starting with the MOH series, the SOCOM's, Killzone, and now Black. It is by far the most impressive shooter I've seen for the PS2 platform. Don't get me wrong its not perfect, but its pretty damn good and allot of fun. My biggest gripe is that at times it takes a few to many rounds to the head to take the enemy out even when dead on, but not as bad as Killzone. Biggest plus being weapons realism and the ability to pretty much blast anythig in the screen, i.e. RPG to a huge fuel silo that sent up an impressive mushroom cloud. Game moves fluidly and each level has dynamic gun battles. Graphics are as good as there going to get for PS2 and its strictly gun play, no hide and go seek here. I Highly recommend it!

All of the hype is true. Black was worth the wait!

Despite all the bad reviews Black has gotten saying that it's too repetitive and the story is lame and all that, well all I got to say is yeah, they're right. The story is lame and the action is very repetitive...and that's exactly what makes Black awesome!

AC/DC has been accused of making the same album over and over again, but us legions of loyal fans would want nothing else. Think of Black like this. Everything about the game works so well, everything else doesn't matter. I mean really, are us FPS fans really into Black for the story? What's our main goal? To blow stuff up over and over again. That's what I call good times. Repetitive? OK but isn't every FPS similar? All of Black's levels aren't anything new for a FPS, but it's done so well it feels fresh. The guns are amazing, and it's great fun to blow up explosive barrels and watch them take out enemies. I personally haven't had this much fun since Killzone. So in my opinion, Black was surely worth thr wait.

black is a great 1st person shooter game. it is very challeging and exciting. 1 downfall is you can not start thr game off at the checkpoint. if you make it to a checkpoint and die, you have to start the whole mission over again

I have played a lot of FPS games, both computer and PS2, but Black takes the cake! I rented this game and decided to play the 'hard' level and what a trip it is to play.

Not only is it challenging but highly addictive. Make sure you leave the PS2 system on if you decide to stop playing; otherwise, you will find that the game does not save your game play unless you finish the level.

Watch out for the guys running around with the hockey-style masks on, they have shotguns and superior armor over the other enemies, making them much harder to kill.

For a more realistic approach and hair-raising experience, I suggest playing Black on the 'hard' level, you won't be dissapointed.

This is the best game I haved evered played in my life! Rainbow Six Raven shield was ok, and Lock Down was good. But Black? I have a feeling I will be playing black for a long,long time. The graphics, sound, gameplay are very damn good!

Fast Paced Shooter

This is a game for the kind of people who like to straight up shoot things. The amount of enemies you face in this game is vast, so much so that will keep your bloodthrist pretty much satisfied. The game is simple, aim, shoot, kill. They have added objectives (such as destructing enviroment, finding hidden documents/weapons and blowing briefcases) to add a little more to the missions. I started off on hard difficulty and I can say I'm pretty satisfied with how hard the game has come to be at some points, but once you beat the hard level of difficulty you get to unlock silver weapons, which pretty much makes it a breeze to kill enemies (unlimited ammo, plus, the weapon they give you launches grenades, which are also unlimited) that's if you decide to go and take on the Black Ops difficulty, which isn't harder than Hard, you just have to complete ALL objectives. The only glitches I found with the game is that at some points, when the shooting gets too heated, the frame rate drops and everything slows down pretty bad, which can actually help you to align your shot, but it's still a tad annoying. Other than that, some enemies (guys with shields and shotgun people) can take an insane amount of damage, almost wasting your whole clip and more sometimes. I'd suggest you cheat a little and get an online walkthrough to locate the objectives if you're aiming for that, other than that, enjoy shooting waves of enemies.

Awesome game, very well worth the buy, that's all I have to say about that. Now for the dude that wrote the review for this game that might as well have been a novel, man don't you have a life. That's all for that.
