If only the TV show were this easy...

My thoughts are a recurring theme of other reviews. The questions repeat too quickly and frequently. Apparently, Disney wanted to take advantage of the show's popularity and rushed to get the CD on shelves for Christmas. Oh well, caveat emptor (this is the answer to one of the repetitive questions). I will be certain to wait until I have read reviews before buying the software. Not worth the novelty of being the first in the family with the game.

I'm glad it's only $19.95

This is the most meager cash-in attempt I've ever seen. There may well be hundreds of questions, but it'll take you a thousand games to see them all. I was receiving a couple or three repeat questions by the fifth game, and a majority of repeats by game 10. There seems to be little or no gradual increase in difficulty, which was proven when I saw a $500 question later repeated as a $125,000 question later in the game.

An example of the game's inadequacy runs thusly: I am cruising through the game easily until the $32,000. Fine, by now I'm expecting them to be tough. I use the 50-50, then the call a friend, who says she is 75% certain the answer is (A). Just to be sure, I use the audience poll as well. Guess what, 92% say that (A) is their choice. Well, now I'm convinced and go with (A) as well. I'm WRONG, it's (B). That is just stupid beyond measure. If they wanted to throw me off, make the audience rating more like 60-40% or something.

Nice graphics, nice sounds, atrocious game mechanics. Wait for the improved version, or play it on the net.

Who wants to be a millionaire? I do, I do!

First let's start off with this statment, I am terrable at Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I love the show, I'm just terrable at answering the questions. But the first time I played this game, I won $64,000! I even surprised myself! The next time I was full of confedence and hoping to get a lot more, you know what happened? I ended up using all my lifelines before the $300 question and walked away! Now you know how bad I am at this game! But in about two weeks, I had already seen all the questions and won $1,000,000! That's understandable since I couldent stop playing it. Even after that I still find myself playing this game every now and then. It just goes to show you how addictive this game is. When my sister started playing it she couldn't stop and once when a check for $1,000 appeared on the screan, she asked me "Can you print that?"

I am 15 years old. This is my first review (out of about 30) that is a 1-star review. And I have 18 (give or take a few) reasons why I hate this game so much:
1. After the first game, the questions started repeating. The game is basically the same 40 questions over and over again.
2. You can't skip the introduction. I know it's not too long, but you'd think that with today's technology there'd be an option to skip it.
3. Regis is appallingly rude. Once I won nothing and he said, "Welll, there you go. Don't spend it all in one place. In fact, don't spend it at all. Put it in the bank! In 40 years, maybe you'll be able to afford a marble or something!"
4. Once a $200 question appeared later as a $32,000 question. Um, that's not good.
5. The questions from $100 to $1,000 are too difficult (compared to the show). For example, the show had a $1,000 question that was "How many legs does a spider have?" But the game had a $1,000 question that was "What kind of object is a 'ginsu'?"
6. Once again, Regis is appallingly rude. Once I won $1,000 and he said, "Not bad, But at least you should've known the last one. Come on! Or at least you should've GUESSED better!"
7. Regis only says "Is that your final answer?" whenever he wants to. Most of the time, your first answer IS your final answer, even if you happened to hit the wrong button by mistake.
8. There's a ridiculous time limit of 30 seconds per question. I've seen people on the show take as long as 17 minutes.
9. The Fastest Finger mode is a joke. You're supposed to hit a letter key when you think the four answers are in the correct sequence. You don't actually put them in order.
10. Regis is appallingly impatient. If you take too long on certain things (like the Fastest Finger mode, or saying how many contestants will play), he'll say, "This game is over! I'm outta here!", and the game quits on you. Yep, you're back to Windows! And guess what? Once you load it back up again.....
11. ......you'll have to sit through the introduction again!
12. There's a general lack of options. When you hit the Escape key, you bring up the option menu, and you have these options: Volume Up, Volume Down, Resume, Start Over, Quit. There's no way to make the questions easier or harder, and there's no way to skip the introduction.
13. Speaking of which, when you select Start Over, the whole program starts over. Yep, you'll have to sit through the introduction again!
14. Once again, Regis is appallingly impatient. If you take too long to write your name, Regis will say, "Come on, it's not a big deal", or "This isn't a trick question, what's your name?" If you take too long, he'll type whatever he wants (e.g. Kathie Lee Gifford).
15. When you use the Phone-a-Friend Lifeline, Regis calls one of HIS friends and they start chatting a little before they get to the question. Then he'll say to his friend, "I've got a question for you", as if you're not even there. I mean, come on, it's YOUR lifeline, not Regis's!
16. What's wrong with having an option to use the mouse?
17. When you say "yes" to the instructions, Regis only gives them to you once. This is especially annoying in the Fastest Finger mode, in which you're pretty much doomed to load the game up again once it quits.
18. Did I mention that Regis is appallingly rude and impatient?
Well, there you have it. This review pretty much goes to ALL the games in this series (19. The makers were kind enough to make more than one edition of this trash). One of the few redeeming qualities of this game is the CD has pretty art on one side. That way, the CD makes a colorful, if fragile Frisbee. Aside from "Treasure Mathstorm!" and all the other "games" in that series, this is the lamest excuse for a game I have ever played. And that is my final answer!

Should be shareware

A previous reviewer stated that she was a teacher for the mentally-impaired, and was insulted by the speech context. Give me a break ! That's part of the game. I find that the game is was right on track in the beginning. However, after playing the game for about five times, it started giving repetitive questions. For the amount of questions that this program has, they should make it shareware and let you decide if you want to pay the [money] for registration. Then, you can have more questions downloaded. Otherwise this game is a great disappointment and not worth the [money].

Won't Load

I have all the requirements, but it still won't load onto my PC or laptop. I haven't had a chance to see how bad it is. I should have read the reviews before I put it on my Christmas wish list.

How Wants a Blank Screen?

This program wouldn't work on either of the two computers in this household. The first clue should have come when I had installation problems. Once I got it going, the screen liked to blank. In my opinion, you need a new and powerful computer to run this program. A computer much more powerful than the listed minimum requirements.

I tossed my copy of the software in the trash, since it's not easy to get a refund and I'm not interested in an exchange.

Too bad, though. We love the TV program and were looking forward to placing the game.

After playing a couple of times the questions repeat themselves.Save your money. This was a shameless attempt by Disney to cash in on the show.

Short-Lasting, Realistic, and Drawn-Out

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 4 / 5

This game matches with the real thing quite well, but has too few questions to endure. If you've never seen the show, it's simply a series of fifteen, each increasing in dollar amount until the last, million-dollar question. It's drawn out. There's a speech clip for each dollar amount, answer, and other things. The infamous "final answer" option only appears when you take a while to answer, unfortunately. The lifelines are realistic, minus the fact that "phone a friend" is really "phone Regis's friend". The "fast finger" scrambles the choices, and the first correct key pressed wins. The graphics are pretty good and there are neat animations. I recommend this for Millionare fanatics or trivia people, but only those who won't run out of questions.
