Quite simply, THE BEST

This game is amazing. Several years old now and I still find myself spending hours exploring the island of Vardenfell, Solstheim, and the mysterious city of Mournhold. The depth and beauty of this game is unsurpassed by nearly anything on the market TODAY! And it's a good what? 4 years old? If you want an enjoyable, endlessly-playable RPG experience, and you're tired of the yawn-fest Final Fantasy crap, PICK THIS UP!! You can't beat the price, and you shouldn't have to worry too much about your computer running it (unless your computer is hideously old). Also with the developer tools included with the game, the online mod community is simply massive! Thousands of mods available to extend and improve play in a variety of ways. Plus if you're feeling daring you can try your hand at your own mod!

Very Nice

this is an awesome game there is so much you can do. the only bad thing is it is so big and high quilty that you really need a fast computer for it to relly work well. But the great thing about this game is it is so big you can never beat it a 100% there is so much you can do, and its not like you have to go along with the story line you can do what ever you want.

OH MY GOD!!!!

This game is one of epic proportions that will keep you in your seat for the whole time. I have spent over 1000 hours on this game, and I have done only about 1/3 things that there are to do here. Absolutely amazing graphics, awesome gameplay, in-depth story line, hundreds of weapons, items and armor. quests, people, all is included in this game. AWESOME!!!

Huge Game. Huge.

Too big, honestly. Free-form. Relatively easy to control in most aspects aside from combat. Stealth is a bit touch and go. BUT. You will never run out of things to do. In fact, there are so many things to do, you'll most likely need the strategy guide. And don't rely on the game to properly keep track of it all...

Buggy, lousy docs, overly complicated, but amazing graphics

The graphics in this game are great. The music and sounds effects are quite good as well. If they fixed a few things, this could really be an awesome game. I am shocked that it has received such great reviews given all the problems it has. Perhaps their standards for what constitutes a great game are much lower than mine...

Here are several of the shortcomings of this game that I have found so far:

First of all, there is no useful documentation. The manual (and I use the term loosely) is a joke. Most of the things you need to know are missing completely, others have only a brief comment in the manual, but no details, while other things that make little or no difference whatsoever in the game, have an entire page of detail. You simply have no idea what you are supposed to be doing. Within the game, the rules are not explained, and there is no tolerance for breaking them. Every interaction with other people in the game is based on how much they like you, so most mistakes are completely unrecoverable, forcing you to save the game before making any choices. You are constantly given conflicting information and instructions, with no hope at all for figuring out who you should trust. My advise is to save the game a lot! Unfortunately, more often than not, you don't realize the error in your ways until much later (kind of like buying this game...).

Second, the game is unbelievably slow. Every 20 seconds or so of moving in one direction, the game freezes with no mention of what it is doing as it loads the next segment of the map. After about 5 seconds, you regain control. This also happens every time you enter or leave a building, even when in a town. This makes exploring towns a painfully arduous task. I am running the game on a 1.8 GHz P4, with 768MB of RAM and a GeForce2. While this obviously isn't the best setup in town, it is a far cry from the recommended 800 MHz P3 with 256MB of RAM printed on the box. I can't imagine anyone playing for long using the "recommended" system...

Thirdly, the game crashes constantly! I can't believe how frequently this game crashes. I have been playing for about 10 hours now, and I can honestly say the game has crashed at least 20 times! This is by far the most unstable game I have ever played.

(Forthly?) The user interface leaves quite a bit to be desired. I have sort of gotten used to it now, but it could still use some serious work. The combat system, however, is absolutely terrible. You have almost no control. You just click wildly with your mouse and hope for the best. You have a little cross- hair to aim with, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. The only way you have any chance is if you are a lot stronger than what you are fighting. And if you get attacked by more than one monster at a time, forget it. Also, almost every monster I have encountered so far has been considerably faster than my character, so running away isn't an option either.

The last thing I am going to mention is the complexity of the game. Maybe there are people out there that are looking for a game that will completely take over their lives for months on end (or two years according to a previous review!), but for the average gamer, this is simply over the top. In order to be successful at this game, you really need to have a second computer running Excel just to keep track of everything (ie: people, training locations, points of interest, quests, etc...) as well as a notebook to make town maps, etc... in.

To rate it by element (out of 5)...
Graphics -- 5
Music -- 4
Sound Effects 4 (but they get really annoying after a while, especially the voices)
Story -- 3
User Interface -- 3
Stability -- 2
Documentation -- 2
Combat -- 1 (the worst I have ever seen)

If you are looking for a first person Fantasy RPG, I would strongly recommend that you take a look at the Might and Magic Series by 3DO instead of this. Might and Magic 6-8 were great. Although 9 was a bit lame, it was still better than this game.

This is ONE OF THE WORSE GAMES I have ever had the displeasure of buying and wasting money on. I personally will never buy another game from Bethesda again. After all of the hype about the game, me and my spouse bought it. After 10 minutes of play, we found that this game required too much camera angling, two hands to use a mouse and keyboard. The hot keys, even customized, required way too much time to even enjoy the game. This game, in my opinion, is for people who enjoy complex playing, and not medium to simple play.

I am sure the game is great, but until a version comes along where I don't have to use one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse, pass this one by.

Best RPG you'll ever play!

In Morrowind PC you can do just about anything you want!Play it and complete the main quest, then join ALL the factions/guilds and Master them. And just when you thought you've beat it, there are still HIDDEN quests and (...)mods everywhere to keep you playing forever!(...)

Okay

Scores out of 10:
music - 9 - pretty good, not too repetitive, i liked it
graphics - 8 - alright, fairly good for computer, but not amazing or anything
controls - 8 - they're easy to figure out and they work well.
story - 6 - okay, it's somewhat creative, but not explained very well.
gameplay - 6 - it's a little confusing to know what to do. and it's just not very fun or rewarding to play.

overall, this gets about a 6 or 7 out of 10. it really isn't good as all those 5 star reviews imply. i didn't enjoy it, it just didn't flow very well. and it's too bad it's not multiplayer, that would make it much better. the world is just so large, it's easy to get lost and it's irritating trying to find a person or place. i've seen several better games for free, i don't know if i'd pay so much for this quality - or lack of it. but you may want to check it out, if you're an rpg fan.

Without the cheats, I would not say it's worth it

I have to be honest in saying that I had fun doing those..

I have to also say that I HATED being LOST .. Literally LOST.
because of bad directions.. and no compass on the screen.. So you don't know where the heck you are, or are going.. LITERALLY HOURS of Real Time game play.. Just being LOST.

I have to say honestly that If I had not discovered the mods, and fast travel cheat , I would have tossed it out after the first few tries..
