OK so the original release date for HL2 was supposed to be September 2003 and here we are over a YEAR LATER and still no release date has been given. ( I know there have been dates given but these change so often that they're almost totally useless) I mean lately there have been dates given ranging from early summer to the newly annouced date of Nov 23rd (I'm writing this from the UK folks).
I can only think that this constant delay from sierra/valve will end up as a very negative element and will almost certainly count for poorer review marks in the various computer magazines when (if) it finally sees the light of day.
I loved Half Life when it was originally released and have played it many times since. Sadly I'm now against the idea of purchasing this game (HL2) because in the end due to the constant delays I'm sure it won't be long at all before a better looking alternative arrives on the market.
A final tip for the marketing department at sierra: Guys if you do plan to release software in future might I suggest picking a release date and actually sticking to it??
no competition

If anyone thinks that Halo 2 will be better than this, they should be shot. This game will easily set the standard for all first-person shooters in the future. Besides having top-of-the-line graphics (which are a standard nowadays), it's physics system and what i hear about it's storyline are top-notch as well. If there is only one game you buy this year, make it HL2.
Welcome back Mr. Freeman!

Greetings!
As they say in the gaming arena--If you haven't played Half Life yet, you're either a nomad living in Afganistan or a father of 6 kids who is too busy with too many things in life ;)
So, now, Half Life 2 is just round the corner (hopefully, Sierra does not ditch us again this time), all PC gamers the world over (including India) are holding their breath tight and in preparations updating or upgarding their RAM, Graphics Cards, HDD or even Moniter resolution.
If this game happens to live just half of it's expectation, it would be one of the best games released this year. Thanks for reading.
I too have seen the BETA

Due to my fiances connection with the media, I too have seen the inside BETA version of HL2. There are still a few bugs that they need to work out (So I am told) but believe me, this will be worth waiting for. If you loved the first one as much as I did, you will absolutely love it this time around. You are going to want to invest in some RAM, a decent video card, and at least a SB live sound card to get the full experience.
They aren't going to be able to keep this one on the shelves....GUARANTEED!
i can't rate, i can only give my opinion (forced to rate)

I find it funny how someone posted from valve with information that was supposed to be incompany knowledge, and i like how he said they removed the n00by carbine lol, I love how Valve with their Steam constantly tries to change CS so n00bs can have an easier time. Cry Cry i keep getting awped, i've only been playing for a week please change it.
Valve: sure we will take a staple of the game and make it terrible so you the n00b can play better, and BTW the vets don't get their way thats why they have been playing so long. I'm sorry Anyway HL2 should be amazing but im not going to sayanything till i play it. I have seen my CS degrade so badly over the past few months that i can't put a finger on how good HL2 is gonna be. Yes the graphics will be amazing and yes the AI will blow your mind but if the game play is changed it won't be the same. The bob in the original HL was perfect but i have read that the bob has changed to a more realistic accuracy affecting bob, so i can't say anything about whether or not the game is going to be fun (isn't that important fun? if a game isn't fun its not a game its an annoyance). Granted HL was easy because of the bob but if they have change an aspect of the game that has made it so easy to mod with things such as natural selection, the specialists, and vampire slayer, etc... then they should reevaluate what they are doing. I personally will purchase it regardless, because im a fan of HL and its mods and if the first was as moddable as it was then the second will follow suit hopefully :\
I'll believe it when I see it.

The first Half-Life was a so-so crate jumping sort of experience. I'm not bashing the game yet. Don't get me wrong, it's just that I have heard all these tired claims before; flashy graphics, A.I. that can score a 1600 onthe S.A.T.'s, and other gimmicky blah blah blahs. It's hard to believe this could deliver more than Halo (or the soon to be Halo 2) in the way of A.I., physics, or gameplay. Until Half-Lifes combat evolves it just won't shine that bright.

Ive seen like every trailer and screenshot and watched this thing as close as a momma raccon to her young since it was announced. The graphics are simply salivatingly delicious and the crazy realism in it is enuf to make you want eat the gosh darn thing.
Ive downloaded the alpha demo for DOOM3 and, dont get me wrong, that thing is gonna raise some hell on its release, but DOOM3, as much respect as i have for the doom series hit a lil' short of where even the Half-Life E3 gameplay video has hit.
I mean im sure its not going to be AS great as the E3 thing makes it look but this thing is going to "knock me socks off" as I might put it.
is it really half life 2?

Ok everybody, I've heard rumours that this isnt actually Half Life 2, it is actually half life 1, under a different name, and it has a few new enemies named 'biozeminades' which can make themselves look good, and you have to kill them with spray paint. Apparently, the half life 2 e3 video and trailer were made with frame by frame animation (so it is not the game) by Yago Zebadiah, who is from France. However, this half life 2(1) is still looking good, and i hope that the biozeminades are as good as people say they are
Hoping for the best...

Aaaah... What a magicall year for gamers. Quake 4 announced, Doom III & Half-Life 2 on the way, and Duke Forever... uhm... well... Half-Life being one of the best games ever to take place on mine and any others hard-drives was bound to a sequel. But, what will we recive? One thing is certain, the game will be powered by one of the wildest graphics engines ever. Visuals only seen in movies, sound effects to droll for, kick-ass much environment interactivity... But... Can Valve keep up with the success of the original? Only time will see...
This is gonna rock...

Half-life was an insanely good game...I've been playing it and the expansions for years and it still exceeds many games being released today.
This game is going to outdo the first by far, as can be told from the incredible footage of the film, and will revolutionise the gaming industry and impact our lives forever...
