I've just started playing this game and I notice a couple differences.

The typed words go by faster. (which is good)

Link makes noises when he swings his sword. (I don't like it, I liked just hearing the sword on the old version)

When you catch a fairy with your net they actually spell Fairy correctly. (which is GREAT) lol

When you go into a cave that has the giant fairy who restores your health, she does it in half the time and it sounds a lil different when she does it. (I don't like it)

I'm not far at all, so I'm sure there's a ton more differences. I heard from a friend that Link dies in the end! What a shame! :(

Feels like Link to the Past Deluxe

I remember so clearly playing Zelda for the first time. My brother and I both had Super Nintendos, and he had come home for thanksgiving. I started playing, and could not pull away. The game sucks you in, and does not let you go. Furthermore, it's the sort of game one can play and play and play.

So here we are, with perhaps the greatest game series made, ported to the Game Boy. How does it stack up? Benifitting from the GBA's superior graphics (at least compared to the SNES), the visual experience is almost shockingly clear and colorful. There are added touches all over the place, but most importantly, they left a legend alone. This is Zelda to go, just as remembered. I'll be playing for the next few days, flashing back to that wonderful thanksgiving. Thank you Nintendo and Capcom. This is wonderful.

You know no matter how good the graphics get on the new video games systems I will always look back at the original NES as the best. Nothing beats playing a game of the original Zelda.

Back in the realm of the first gold cartridge game, Zelda was one of the best buys when we had the NES. That Game keep all of the family playing hard to try to beat it......... took over 6 months of part time play ( had to work sometimes ). The 2D gaming was the norm, and Saving was unheard of at that time.

Playing the N64 version was unreal...... the 3D was AWESOME

I just picked up a GBA SP, and also bought this game too......... because of the fun that I had many moons ago with the original.

This game has not disappointed....... I am still working on beating the game, and it will take time ( again, I have to work to support a couple of habits like eating, sleeping inside a house, etc.)

Another reviewer said that he died a lot..... yep the game is not the easiest.... and that is why I wanted to buy it... I want a game that is challenging, and this one foots the bill

As for people that are blasting the 2D graphics....... guess what.... for being a portable unit, the graphics are really better than expected........ unless you are wanting to lug around the 30"TV, game system, and the pwer cords to hook it all up.... at least I can play it in my car going down the Highway if I so desire

Great game, just as good as the original NES gold cartridge..........

unbelivable

With the exception of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (haven't played) and Majora's Mask (have played), Zelda lives up to be the high-water mark of about any kind of video game you can imagine. Balance both action and puzzles, often they have high replay values. This being my first look at A Link to the Past, you'll notice the games lighter on the puzzles, but lots of more mayhem of monster-filled rooms. Maybe I'm just getting used to Zelda games, but I was hoping for more challenge from the puzzles. There's no Eagles's Tower (EVIL!!) like in Link's Awakening. You'll still get stuck sometimes though, don't worry about that. The boss fights weren't particularly tough, with a disappointing final boss being one of my biggest gripes.

Gameplay: Not as refined as could be, but still good outside Zelda games. However, by the time you beat this game you'll know exactly what it feels like to be shot at from six different directions! 8/10

Graphics: Early SNES game that depicts things more realisticly than most Nintendo franchises. Still manages to look pretty a couple times. 7/10

Sound: Ah, the great Zelda Overworld theme! And decent second world theme! Pretty good end score! Problem you say?-- only one song (though not bad) for EVERY dungeon. In a game that's more or less a RPG. Hurts the score. 7/10

My list of best Zelda games:
1. Ocarina of Time
2. Oracle of Seasons/ Oracle of Ages
3. Links Awakening
4. A Link to the Past
5. The Legend of Zelda
6. The Adventure of Link
7. Majora's Mask

Overall- 9/10. Yeah, it's in the middle of the list. But Zelda is my all-time favorite games, so don't let that discourage you from purchasing this classic.

This game is really fun. Just like in most of the other games you get all sorts of weapons and you use them a lot. Sometimes you go places just to explore and you find something that turns out to be really useful. For example, one time I was just cutting some grass with my sword and I found a hole. When I jumped in I found a fairy fountain. Also, if someone else has it you can link up with them and play Four Swords. I like this part a lot. What you do is you go around doing just about the same thing except this time you are the same team. For example, you have to push buttons at the same time to open doors or you have to use the magnets to pull each other across a hole. There are also new weapons. Plus, when you defeat the boss you'd think that it's over but you still have to get more types of keys. All in all it's one of the best games I have.

great game, buy it!

I have played about 4 Zelda games altogether, and this was the best ever!!! I haven't even played the multiplayer Four Swords adventure yet, and I give it 5 stars already!

Plot: The plot doesn't really have any real effect on the game itself, though there are some hidden twists. +1

Graphics: Not the best I've ever seen, but works fine for the gameplay. +1.5

Gameplay: I've yet to see better. There are amazingly vast series of beasties, and each one is unique. Every item you get is usefull, the dungeons are fun, every boss is great, hard to beat but not too hard. I love it. +3

Sound: The only thing I didn't love.. The sounds don't always suit the situition, and it's like the whole games music is
balanced on a few songs that keep being recycled. -1

Replay Value: O.K., I guess. +.5

All in all, if you want a good game to play for a while, then I suggest you try Legend of Zelda Games(this one in particular).

GO, ZELDA!WAHOO!

Very good, but much alike the others.

I've played many of the Zelda titles, and I recently heard about this one being particularly fun.

After playing it, I agreed, but like a lot of the games, there were parts where it just wants you to go around the ENTIRE map and waste time looking for something. That was a big let down on me.

But overall, the game was nice. Bosses well done and challenging(But god, the third pendant boss is hell), and it was a fun game. Not much else to say, except that I'll be busy playing Twilight Princess instead. At least you know where to go...
