A Great Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 4 / 6

I've always loved A Link To The Past. It's not too easy but not too hard. The graphics are good and it has a nice storyline to it. It's just fun! I only have one complaint about this game for the GBA (and it's a big one):
This version of the game comes with a new game, The Four Swords. The only problem is that it's a MULTIPLAYER GAME! I know multiplayer games are enjoyable for some people, but not everybody knows someone else who also has this game, so many of us are not even able to play the game, which sucks, because from pictures I've seen, it looks like a lot of fun. There should ALWAYS be a single player option!
Okay, I'm done whining now.

Another great remake

The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past Four swords, a remake of the best game of all time, with a couple extras. This game was one of the best games released in 1991 for the 16 bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Here is my over all rating of this game on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 obviously being the best.

Graphics: 10
All I can say is it is somehow better in graphics than it's SNES counterpart. I guess it is due to the Gameboy advance being a 32 bit system, rather than the SNES's 16.

Audio: 10
Four Swords offers good sound effects, along with the original music. Now, when Link does the sword swipe it does the "Hyaah!" from Ocarina of Time, and the sound effects when Link falls also from OOT.

Fun level: 10
This game is fun, hands down. After you beat A Link to the Past, you can get a link cable and play up to 4 players on the extra game: Four swords. After you beat Four Swords, in A Link to the Past you can go to the "Secret Temple" and play a short game where you have to beat four Links... mysteriously similar to the one in Zelda WindWaker. He also has the wild spin you learn from the figting guru guy.

All in all this is an awesome game which you will get your money's worth. Buy this game!

Great classic; sound is a bit off though

An excellent rendition of a classic must-play game. My only complaint is that the sound is not very good on this port. While the GBA has always had limited sound capabilities, this game in particular has very poor sound compared to the SNES original (from 1992!).

Otherwise the game is a perfect port and great for getting that quick Zelda fix. Go back and play this once you're done with The Minish Cap ;)

A Very Good Game

This game is really fun! The Four Swords game is fun too. The graphics are really good. The story goes that one night Zelda sends Link a telepathic message for help. So he has to go into the Dark World to defeat Ganon.
Like I said before, this game is really fun. But like most of the other Zelda games, when you beat the game it acts like you never beat it.

Classic brought back to life

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. This classic from the days of the Super Nintendo is a wonderful game to be able to toe around in your pocket. Although having the extra 4 Swords quest on the game is definitely a bonus, I will be spending more time on a link to the past. Those who played this game on the SNES remember how much of a breakthrough this was on the SNES and it remains one of, if not THE best game on the system.
One of two noticeable changes to the game boy version is that Link now yells as he swipes his sword. Being more familiar with the Super Nintendo version without the yells, this was a bit of a distraction, but slowly I have adjusted.
The 2nd difference is the different style of controls. The SNES featured the A,B,X,Y buttons together, whereas the game boy needs to make use of the L and R buttons. The way Nintendo decided to divide the duties of each button is very awkward for those who have played it on the SNES. Most gamers are not so fluent in using the L and R buttons in regular game play and will need to make adjustments before playing the game as fluidly on the SNES.
For those of you who have never played the SNES version SHAME ON YOU! Buy this game NOW! The infamous mix of action and puzzle solving that Zelda is known for will keep you on your toes.

A MUST BUY for any Game Boy Advance User

This was the 2nd Zelda game I ever played and now I have played about 8 but this Zelda game is defiently my favorite Zelda game of all. I cant wait until I get my hands on it! I am also very excited about the new multiplayer option. Zelda will proabaly stay my favorite game series and this game will proabably be my favorite game. In fact I already know this is my favorite game because I enjoyed the one for SNES so much.

Zelda at its Best

This is the best Zelda game I have ever played. Ever. Both the controls mirror those of the classic N64 game, Ocarina of Time, as opposed to the Oracle games and Link's Awakening on Game Boy Color. The graphics are a lot better, too. But I don't buy games for the graphics. The game itself is great. The best part is that Four Swords, the multiplayer game, is unlike any other multiplayer game, because it is an adventure in itself. Rather than the normal idea of players being against each other, this game requires you to cooperate with your teammates as you battle through a dungeon. There are three multiplayer levels, as well as a tutorial level you can play.

links back and as short as ever

The best Zelda game ever?

Most people say that this game is the best Zelda ever made. I personally like "Wind Waker" better, though it's a bit short. But, I agree with them when I say that this is one ot the best games ever made, because it not only has what many cosider to be the best game of all time, but it also has a multiplayer game in the best series of all time. This is also the best multiplayer gameboy game ever it emphasizes both cooperation (needed to get through a level) and competition (whoever gets the most rupees the most times gets a new ability, only one player gets the heart container at the end of the level) at the same time. One of the best features of The Four Swords is the dungeons. Each time you play a dungeon, it is completely different, because it has a random dungeon generator, giving it an EXCELENT replay value.

Buy it No Reservations

I Can fully recomend this game without any reservations. I was one of those guys that has "A Link to the Past" on SNES. I poped this game into my GBA SP and couldn't put it down. When I first started playing everything except making you sit through the introduction, and a slight difference in the controlls (duh 4 buttons compared to the six on SNES) was exactly the same as the SNES Version. The controll issue took less than an hour to resolve, and if your new to this game you probally won't even notice. Maybe I shouldn't of bought this because I won't get anything done except beat the game again and again. I can't comment on four swords yet, I'm too busy playing A link to the Past. This is one of the games that makes buying a GBA worth it.
