A Link to the Past was the game that got me into Zelda and let me say one thing, it's worth every penny. For those who didn't play it when they were younger (shame on you)and for those born after it was released (welcome), better pick up this game. Snag this Metroid, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

How can you beat this classic??

This is the game I was raised on, and also my introduction to the zelda series. I must say I haven't missed a Zelda game yet! Sure it may not be all fancy like Ocarina of Time (which was excellent as well), but I played LttP for hours. Don't listen to other people because they say 'Well, the graphics aren't that great, or the controls were simple.' This game got very high ratings when it first came out, and is one of the few SNES games you can still buy today. That should tell you something. Buy this game, and you won't be able to put it down, unless you drain all the batteries on your Game Boy.

Pretty good game with a few flaws.

Back in 1994 I got a copy of "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening." To this date, it is my favorite video game. At the time, however, I no longer had an NES and did not have an SNES. I had to wait until 2002 to play "A Link To The Past"-- an eight year wait!

When I finally got it, it felt like the early 90s again. Its amazing to think that the graphics in this game were top of then, but 10 years later, they are portable! This game looks a lot more "cartoony" than any other Zelda game (save what I have seen of "WindWaker"), but that isn't a big deal. The game itself has a very good story line, and the prolouge is nearly a direct summary of "Ocarina of Time." Actually, "A Link To The Past" has one of the best Zelda stories (This game and Ocarina of Time are the most important stories to the series; the other game boy and N64 games are less important. I have not gotten my hands on an NES to try the originals-- but I can't wait!).

As far as gameplay goes, this is one of the harder games. I beat it in about a week without a guide, but I have been playing Zelda games for years and therefore can get through them pretty quickly. The puzzles weren't as hard as other Zelda games, but the enemies were very hard! It seems like every single guy took away like two hearts (I also had problems figuring out what some of the guys were supposed to be-- what was that bouncing circle with hair?)!

With that comes my biggest gripe. I found that I died about 75 times in this game, which shows how difficult the enemies were. But many times, it wasn't that the enemy was really hard, but that that were hard to dodge. Those green knights would get close to me, and walk over my three or four times, taking away four hearts! Then, if I tried to walk away, the knight would simply walk along with me, but he would STILL BE ON TOP OF ME!!! I got SO frustrated that I would have to take a break from the game. By the time the knight was slain, I would have lost 6 hearts! It was simply horrible! I can't think of any other games where the simplest enemy can take away that much health from walking on your character.

Aside from the "walking" health loss, though, the game was very good. The story was great, the graphics were decent, and the dungeons were memorable. The biggest complaint I have about the "Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons" duology is the fact that the dungeons in those games were incredibly generic.

That was basically a review of "A Link to the Past." "The Four Swords" is VERY good. For the first time, two players can play Zelda at once! Not only that, but this game is a mix between cooperative and head to head-- you must work together to win, but in the end, the person with the most Rupees wins the medal. The game is truly worth getting this whole package for. The fact that two games are included is awesome. The one downfall of "The Four Swords" is that it is based on the "WindWaker" graphic base, and the graphics in "WindWaker" are sickening. Fortunately, on the GBA, you really can't tell.

If you like RPGs/Adventure games, even if you are a mild fan, GET THIS GAME. Its portable, its multiplayer, and its fun! Just avoid the green knights who will "Walk all over you (literally!)."

2nd best Zelda game ever made.

To this day i still feel that A Link to the Past is the 2nd greatest Zelda adventure after Ocarina of Time. And considering how great that game is, thats saying a lot.

A Link to the Past is every bit as enjoyable and polished as the day it came out over 10 years ago. I still remember picking it up the day it came out for the Super Nintendo. And now replaying it on a handheld brings back all the fond memories.

The graphics are still great today and look very crisp and detailed. The play control is still perfect and the gameplay and fun is just about unsurpassed by any other game. Plucking the Master Sword from the lost woods or finally donning that Red Mail suit still makes me happy to this day.

However, since i dont link up with other players i cant comment on the Four Swords multiplayer adventure. But looking at the graphics and items, it looks very similiar to Minish Cap and thats another amazing Zelda game... so Four Swords cant be all that bad. ;)

So if youre looking for a near perfect adventure with the popular Link than look no further. This little game pak has it all.

Another SNES masterpiece finds a new home.

The Gameboy Advance is becoming a great venue for older games to find a new audience, and by far the best is "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past". This was the first game I played for the Super Nintendo, back in 1991 I think it was, and I could not be happier to play it again.

You assume the role of Link, a young warrior who has a telepathic connection to Princess Zelda, who has been kidnapped by an evil Wizard who plans to plunge the land of Hyrule into darkness. You must go through many different stages, solve many different puzzles, and battle a wide array of monsters. This is as good as Zelda gets, and it hasn't been done better since. While "Ocarina of Time" was excellent, this is still by far the best in the series. Everything about it is perfect, the graphics and music are still great, and the role-playing elements keep the gamer hooked for hours. I rarely see a newer game that matches this one.

Every inch of the original game is included here, with the addition of a 4-player game which requires each player to have a link-cable and an individual game cartridge. So if you and three friends all plan on buying this game, you can enjoy that little bonus. I haven't experienced yet, but then again, that's not why I bought this game. I bought it to play one of my favorite video games of all time again.

Gamers who enjoyed this game over 10 years ago need no more motivation to buy this, but younger gamers are definitely in for a treat. While few games can be rightly be called timeless, this game definitely is. A 5-star masterpiece.

Zelda- The best RPG for the GBA!!!

Zelda: A Link To The Past is the best game I have played for the SNES. Now that it is out for the Game Boy Advance I can play the whole game again. The game is about Link, who must travel between 2 worlds, Light & Dark, trying to save Princess Zelda and the seven maidens from Ganondorf. The game is not just about going through dungeons collecting rupees and slasing enemies with your sword. As you play the game you must do things like buy flippers for swimming and blowing up caves for new items. This makes the game interesting. What makes Zelda even more cooler is the new multiplayer feature, which you surely know about. Zelda: A Link To The Past is the best RPG for the GBA and can keep you entertained for hours with all the searching and fighting...

Its a 5 for its accuracy

This is a faithful reproduction of the original Zelda for NES. I'm glad that the people at Nintendo understnad there's a demand for these old games. At the same time though, I was afraid that they'd go around and 'update' them, which we all know is just another way of saying 'ruining' a good thing.

If this game came out today I'd give it a two. I give it a five though, because of how great it was in the 80s and because its essentially unchanged in this new release for GBA.

For those of you who just tuned in...

This has got to be, along with a few other titles, the biggest, best hit for the SNES. But, unfortunately, the all to quick decay of time has long since taken its toll on that revolutionizing era, and for those of us who were not interested in this form of entertainment when it originally came out, we missed out on many a great game. I, personally, had never played A Link to the Past before its release on this platform. Now we have had the opportunity to participate in this wonderful link to the past (yes, there is a pun intended), and I am proud to say that I am amazed. This game deserves, and indeed all but created, the Zelda name. It continued and still continues the original puzzel-solving/adventure genre started in 1987 with the original Zelda, and has provided the basis for every game in the series since. In playing almost all the later games, it is easy to envision the creators of the games saying "How can I make this as much like A Link to the Past as possible?", especially in what is considered to be the best game of all time, somewhat ironically called Ocarina of Time. All in all, this game is a definate must-buy for anyone that owns a nintendo gameboy advance. The graphics are still superb, the sound is a testament to the GBA's capabilities, and it comes with a 2-4 player adventure that is also fun in its own right. In conclusion, when you buy this game, you are not only buying adventure and hours and hours of pure fun, mind-bending/strengthening puzzels, and an all new competitive quest, you are buying history.

A classic in every sense of the word

For those of you who have never owned a Super Nintendo, this is your chance to play one of the finest games ever made, ranking right up there with Super Metroid and Tetris. The graphics may be over 10 years old, but the gameplay is as rock solid as it was during the 16 bit era. Featuring two massive overworlds, great boss battles, and many unique items, the game design is as close to perfect as I've ever seen.

Often considered the best game of the Zelda series (including Ocarina of Time and Majora, two other masterpieces), anyone with a Gameboy Advance should not hesitate to pick up this title.

BEST GAME EVER!

This game is definitely the best ever. Here is what I rate it:

Graphics: 10/10
Nothing wrong with the graphics here, although the incessant scrolling seems to be a tad bit annoying, but I can deal with that.

Controls: 10/10
Perfect. Any gamer can understand these controls and not even have to look at the manual.

Storyline: 10/10
Awesome. Basically, an evil wizard named Agahnim is kidnapping the seven maidens and trying to break the seven wise men's seal. Agahnim works for Ganon, the evil theif who wants the triforce to control both the Light and Dark World. You have to stop them, collecting 3 pendants, beating Agahnim, getting drawn into the Dark World, getting 7 crystals, and finally a showdown with Ganon. There are plenty of hidden items and secrets, so that it makes a great replay value. A great game.

Gameplay: 10/10
I loved the balance of both action and puzzles in this game. In the dungeons, you fight monsters and bosses, but have to solve hard and challenging puzzles to get there.

Overall: 10/10
I loved this game. Everyone should go buy it!
