The Best RPG for GBA!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 8

A Link to the Past is just superb. I'm glad Nintendo released AlttP again on GBA. It was a great success on Super Nintendo and now it's a success on Gameboy Advance!
The good things about this game is that it comes with two games in one! (A Link to the Past and Four Swords). The dungeon names have changed, so the level names are very catchy. Like I said before, I'm glad they released this for GBA. Now, mmore people will be able to access the game more easily.
The bad part about this game is not much. I don't like the fact that Four Swords is multiplayer and multiplayer only. However, Super Mario Advance games have the extra game, Mario Bros. If Four Swords were single player too, it would be awesome!
I really like the plot for AlttP. Very intriguing instead of some shoot-em-up games where the dude you control goes crazy and wants to kill every one. The fact that this game is an RPG boosts its mark.
Items are also great. So many items from the Bombos Medallion to the Hookshot to the Cane of Somaria. It is hard to get items, yet worth the while to get them. Extremely cool items!
Graphics shine with A Link to the Past. The best graphics are with the medallions that you use.
Bosses and enemies are like normal. Some old enemies come back in this one (Moldorm, Dodongo). The bosses take time to figure out a strategy. For example, take Trinexx, the boss of Turtle Rock. You have to use both rods (Fire and Ice) against him. It took some time for me to find out that you have to hack away at the head once you hit it with the rod. Sometimes, the strategy of a boss is like old bosses in the previous games (Moldorm, you have to hit his tail).
Nintendo has done it again with its games. Another game of interest is The Minish Cap, which came out 17 days ago. If you have the chance of this game and another, buy this one.

If you don't have this, you're missing out on a GREAT game.

This is a very good game for the Advance or SP. It follows Link and his adventures through Hyrule to defeat Ganon, the evil sorcerer. On the way, you have to battle your way through evil soldiers, bosses and more. Although it takes a while to get through all the levels and stuff without a guide, it is a very good game. If you fancy a mulitiplayer game though, this also comes with Four Swords, in which you have to defeat Vatti the wind sorcerer, who has captured Zelda. Either way, this is a very good game. I recommend this game for 10 and up, as it can get disturbing with all the evil bosses and such. Just be a bit careful, as it is very addicting. Overall, this is a great game which any aspiring gamer should have.

This is a very good game, although quite difficult. I'm only a few hours into the quest, and am already sucked in. The plot is simple, but effective in drawing you in, and the world is plenty large. I find the map feature to be better designed than most GBA games, and I concider the dungon map method in this game to actually be better than Orciana of Time for N64.

As of graphics, it is what you would expect from the port of an early SNES game. They could have enchanced some of the clip scenes a little, but the lack of that does not detract from the quality of the game. Additionally the old style of sprite animation in the clip-scene does give it a nice classic feel, invoking nostalgia in older gamers.

The game itself is quite difficult, but that is what one would expect from any Zelda series game. The port is very well done, with no frame rate problems; However, I do find the color pallet hard to see in low light. There is a screen darkness level which can compensate for this, but it's only available from the file select screen. I would sugest playing it under a desk lamp none-the-less. Other than these two points I find nothing negative to say about this game.

It is an excelent game, and is priced very reasonable. A definate choice for classic game fans, epic fans, and fans of the Zelda series alike.

A Great Remake and Multiplayer Fun Fest

Back in the SNES days I had always watched my friends play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I never really play games then since I was more of an observer in singleplayer games. I still remember many secrets from then and I've used them to my advantage. This game is a faithful port of the original SNES version. The controls take some time getting used to put it doesn't prevent any fun or make it difficult. Four Swords Adventure is fun since cooperation is only a suggestion sometimes. You'll need to get over you friendly rival and cooperate when you're not trying to toss your friends into pits. The only flaw is cosmetic and that some of the songs and effects didn't translate well onto the GBA but only someone who has heard the original can tell.

Get this game if you never played The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past years ago or if you want a solid action title with lots of exploration. Keep your eyes open since the smallest clue can help.

Finally, I got the chance to expierence Zelda

When this game first game out on the Super NES, I was only 8 years old and missed out on playing it. Now that it's on the GBA, I haven't been able to it down. I played Link's Awakening on the orginal GB, but this is so much better.

Zelda's Back and Better Than Ever!

In 1988 I had purchased the original NES and a friend encouraged me to buy the first Zelda release. I had only wanted to play action and sports games, but after a few hours with Zelda I was hooked. Back then, maps and guides were not readily available via the Internet so I basically figured the game out from scratch, as I did with the subsequent sequel for the NES. As the years went by I found less idle time. I gave up video games with the exception of Game Boy because I traveled a lot and needed something to keep me busy on long flights or at times when I did not feel like opening a book. Zelda for the original Game Boy platform was OK, but very limited. The sequels for the Color GB, "Seasons" and "Ages" were better. However, this new game is fantastic.

I just finished the complete game using the GBA SP. (What a difference a backlit screen makes!) The character is so much more animated--he screams when he falls off ledges and makes a final gasping sound when his life force is exhausted. The levels are challenging and though the guide pretty much tells you how to finish off a boss, I found it took me more than one try to defeat them on some of the levels. Ganon put up a good fight in the end. Many of the old foes are familiar, but just better defined with the 32 bit system. A few new bad guys pop up here and there ranging from easy to defeat to down right difficult and annoying. The landmines were a bit unsettling.

Running around Hyrule in both the light and dark worlds provided a wealth of new places to explore and new goodies to pick up. Some of them came in really handy, while others I hardly used. Usually after I finish an RPG I just store it away in my collection. However, I already started playing this one again to see if I missed anything the first time around. I don't think I'll ever play Four Swards for lack of players, but no matter. The game is wonderful and though I've played and finished several RPG's, e.g. Castlevania, both Golden Suns, Metroid, to name a few, the Zelda series remains my all time favorite. I just hope we don't have to wait too long between releases for the GBA. And...say what you want, but the Game Boy SP is a excellent hand held gaming system, particularly suited for RPG's.

I would have bought this had it just been the port of Zelda 3 (from super nintendo). However they decided to throw in an extra Zelda (Four Swords) for FREE! Granted you DO need at least two people to play and there are some things you can't get without 4 people playing together. Keep this in mind and buy 4 for you friends because it rocks! The games are tied together in some respects, you get bonuses in Four Swords if you complete tasks in Zelda:ALTTP, which is a fun little feature. All in all BUY IT if you even remotely like Zelda or think you might or if you have 23 chromosomes!

good as it gets!

GOOD HARD CHALLENGING GAME

Dear Amazoner

For anybody who wants a challenge i would highly recommend this game often you need to look online to find out what to do next like often in zelda games its nice to take along but of course not quite as good a 3-D zelda
but defintley about the best hand held zelda till now otherwise i would suggest you the legend of zelda the minish cap (prequel to four swords)(2005) or the gamecube multiplayer four swords adventure(2005) for 2-D zeldas and the legend of zelda phantom hourglass (takes about 5-8hours) coming out october 2007 in europe for nintendo DS which got reveiwed by japanese gaming magazine Famitsu 39/40 and Ngamer(UK) 95/100 that just uses the touch screen (no buttons) which is the sequel to the hugely succsesful wind waker (gamecube) overall the game is fun to play every now and then especially if you think that it came out in 1993 and the inclusion of four swords is good better more than less although its kind of hard to find some one with the game a link cable and a gameboy advance and you cant play it alone but it got its own sequel see above 1-4 players (funner with more)

so i would suggest this game it gets better and better from the beggining the missions are quite hard youll have to retry them quite often (if you get bored of them you can always explore hyrule)but its worth it in the end and if you think that most people complain that new zeldas are to easy but not this one a strategy guide is suggested otherwise you can check the internet (ign.com gamefaqs.com) if you want a second opinion i would recommend ign.com
I would give the game
9.4 out of 10

the game takes between 20-30 hours

I hope my reveiw was helpful
