In the original Sims, getting married was as simple as talking a long time, complimenting, and then making sure they were comfortable and well-fed. Now my sims cannot convince another to marry them. It's so annoying! I am taking hot date off my computer to see if I can remember how easy it used to be. It's fun but so hard and complex. It depends on how much time you have to play with this game (averages between 4 and 24 hours for me, just kidding, but it is addictive).

Downs: it takes way to long to order food.

If you have seen my reviews on the other expansion packs, you can tell that I LOVE The Sims, however, this expansion pack was a little dissapointing. I love the downtown area and all the cool things that come with it, the love seat, diner, and shops, all of these are great fun. However, the new process to build up social relationships takes ten times longer. Now sims are picky and you can only do the same interaction two times within a four hour period. This is extremely frustrating, because I usually do not count how many times and order an interaction, and my sim usually ends up offending the other sim. Now I'm not saying building social relationships are impossible, it just takes several meetings to become friends. Before this expansion pack, I could befriend at least three sims in one night home from work.
SO: IF YOU ARE MORE INTERESTED IN THE NEW SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, SUCH AS SIMS MAKING OUT AND LEAPING INTO EACH OTHERS ARMS, THAN BY ALL MEANS GET THE EXPANSION PACK. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SIM'S JOB MOVING SMOOTHLY WHILE EASILY MAKING FRIENDS, PASS ON THIS ONE.

I absolutely adore the sims. I obviously haven't played this game yet but I really am looking foward to getting it in November (I ordered the official guide too, lol). Like the other reviewers have said, it offers you many new and diverse settings, and as creative as I have tried to be with my sims/livinlarge/house party, there is only so much that you can do). I've tried making restaurants within houses but it just doesn't work, lol. toodaloo ;-) deb
just buy it.. !!

My daughter loves any sims game. Over the monthes that I've been watching her play, I've been hooked no watching her. I recomend this game for 9 and up.{If you don't want your child watching romantic kisses then they shouldn't play or watch this game} From the animated people's view there's lots of kissing, huging, and pasion for the other anamated person. {Don't worry people in this game can not be, or get gay it's not that unepropet I may add.} My daughters also fight on who gets to play it. I should probally mention that after you get the game going, you can take it out and put it in another computer so that another person can play at the same time, and get this it doesn't mess up the game when you do this, which I think is very cool. So have fun playing this very interesting game. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

From what has been described I think the expansion pack sounds pretty cool. I always wanted there to be a town or something besides just the house.
i expect it'll be worth while, but...

of course, i dont already have this game, but i DO have the sims, livin' large and house party. while hot date sounds cool, i think they ought to stop churning out every little idea that comes to mind. also, the whole idea of the town, tho it sounds like fun, proabaly is really draining on the PC. and i bet it's not as great as they say it is. i'll buy it, and i'm sure others will too, but it's just an expansion pack. maxis should work on the sims 2 or simsonline instead of making (what's the count now? 3?) a lot of expansion packs. you know they'll make another. and another, and another...
