I really enjoy sims and wanted to buy hot date. I enjoy it, it's fun, but sims iis now so slow! Before, sims worked at a reasnoble speed, but now it really is annoying. It's worth it though, downtown mode is just great, I love it! Keep on making more, Maxis!

This game was definitely fun when I first got it. I could make them kiss all different ways. I love the fiery kiss. And all the downtown stuff makes it even better especially when you want a new outfit or something like that. It took so much work, however, to make the sims like each other. Now they have two relationship bars, one is the regular bar that goes up really fast and then the other one is like the lifetime relationship one and it takes me almost an entire day for two sims to really like each other.
After playing for a while, I got bored with the downtown area. Everything was the same and I definitely think they could add a lot more stuff like places to buy cuisine food and stuff like that and maybe even a buffet. Sure, it's fun to play with at first but after a while it's the same thing over and over. And the mall is nothing like a real mall... kinda lame.
If you are a hopeless romantic though, you might like this expansion pack. Be warned though, it freezes up so much that it gets annoying. Also this new interest inventory makes it even harder for people to get along. But if you like a challange, go for it.
FRUSTRATION IN SIM CITY ----

The game promises and delivers everything you ever wanted to do with your Sim, IF you can live with "Frozen Screen","Game Crash", "Freeze Game", "Music Skip" and a million other bugs that I am sure that Maxis found quiet acceptable before shipping. This game would be their best yet if they would only patch it up. As for any sound problems: after installing this in 7 different computers and having the same problems, I have found that the sound problems are indeed, yet another bug that can and do slow the game down. This is in new machines and old alike. All Direct X intact and drivers upgraded. If you run it with only an installation of The Sims and none of the other Sims extension packs, you will run easier but will remain somewhat buggy. I expected more from Maxis. This game needed debugged before shipping.
COULD be a great game

I thought the concept of a "downtown" area for my Sims and newly created Sims (that come with the downtown atmosphere) would be cool. They could mingle, hang-out, and make-out. Unless you have a guide book, expert help and advice online, and enormous capabilities for patience....you'll be very bored with this game. It is nearly impossible to get to "first base" with your Sims. I was so shocked at how hard just getting along was (as compared to the original version)! It literally can take DAYS just to find two Sims who will date each other, much-less kiss or get "funky". I have, however greatly enjoyed trashing the downtown area that comes with the game and rebuilding my own! Great fun in that department! The new downtown objects, people, building supplies, and options are outrageously creative and new...no budget to worry about...you just build to your heart's content. The game can be fun..as long as you are patient. Very patient. I am a bit annoyed with the game right now, but as all gamers know...someone will eventually post a "tips and help" site and then I can imagine this game being a little more fun. Until then it feels much like extra-credit homework in your favorite class...frustrating but fun. Hot Date has potential...I would love to hear from anyone who has mastered the lovin' skills...do email!
Update: I have owned the game for a while now. At first the game crashed a few annoying times, now I can barely play it. The makers of this game KNOW there are problems with it. i have spoken to them personally on the phone. They have patches to try and fix it. BUT they don't work! I have now viewed dozens of websites with others (literally hundreds of people)frustrated and having the same problem. I urge all people to wait before purchasing this game now. Check websites and wait to see if there is a functioning patch so you can play this game with ease.
I hope this will help keep some of you from wasting your money! I promise to update again when things change.

I like the premise of Hot Date but the game is too slow and sometime causes the computer to freeze. A patch is definitely necessary. Can't blame Maxis becuz the thought was in the right place. Just wish the game was better
Having so much fun...

...playing The Sims with this new expansion pack. I was disappointed with the last expansion pack, House Party, so I was skeptical about buying this one. But so far this new version is great! I'm so glad I bought it; makes the game much more enjoyable. I will need to buy some more memory for my computer though, because this expansion pack has definitely slowed my computer down.

Your sims finally get to get out of the house and explore the new downtown area. They can go out on a date to a fancy restaurant or just go to the mall and hang out. You also get a whole bunch of new interaction options such as talking about gossip or asking them how they are doing. When you kiss someone, do you want to give them a small peck or a fiery kiss? You get to choose. Make sure that your computer matches the recommendations, or it could run slow.

Yay! As an owner of Livin Large & House Party, I'm about to lose my mind in excitement at the prospect of sims getting to go out more often than disappearing in a car to work and returning to eat supper and go to bed. Lets hope Maxis can possibly let it out.. say... tomorrow? We could only wish! ;) It sounds like it'll be a hit.
Rated R, but a great addition to "The Sims"

Requires "The Sims" to play. The ultimate virtual architect playground, living doll-house, decorator's dream, and control freak's paradise! Love this game expansion, better to own than the previous one, "House Party". This one allows the Sims to leave their neighborhood, just like in "Vacation". Great diversion! Happy Simming!
The best one yet (because vaction isn't in the stores yet)

This is the best one yet (refer to title). Because you can to another place with your sim instead of just staying in your house all the time. I also love the way you can remodel or start from the ground up. The guide book that goes with it is very helpful too. Any sims fan will love this!
