I heard advertisements on this game and I thought, "Oh whoopee! Another Sims pack!" I just got it for Christmas and installed it on my computer after reinstalling the whole game. I lost all the cool houses I built and for what? This game really wasn't all that great as the advertisements boasted. I feel really rotten now that I uninstalled my game for this. I would like it fine if it didn't require a whole bunch of things to get it working right! (i.e. a sound card, Direct X 7, and the like) There is absolutely no sound, which makes me aggravated because playing just isn't all that great without sound! Sound is what makes it fun! And it's so hard to make friends! It takes the sims hours and hours just to make one friend! Before I installed this, I made friends with other sims no problem. It's too easy to make other sims angry! First off, I made a single woman and one of my bachelors came over for a visit. It was nine in the morning (Sim time, now) and it took until six at night for them to even become friends! At first, he liked being tickled and hearing jokes, but then he started getting angry! I don't suggest this. But there are pros, too. I don't want to smash everyone's hopes. I do like the fact that there are cooler objects. But in short, I am a little disappointed...
Okay!!

The Hot Date Expansion Pack isn't a must. It depends on what you're looking for. Hot Date gives you the option to go Downtown. And it, most importantly, gives your Sims a new place to go. You're able to build your own shops and beaches. So it really depends on what you like, and want to do. As all expansions packs, this one takes up a good amount of room. So be prepared. I give the expansion pack a three because it's nice but not a necessity.
Not all that I hoped it to be.

I am a true Sim lover. The game really is lots of fun, and is quite enjoyable. I was so happy when I saw that Hot Date was comming out because I really wanted to be able to have my Sims get more indepth with each other. So I asked for it for Christmas, and I was lucky and got it.
It was the first thing I used that morning and loaded it into the computer. This is the first time I realized that it was taking longer to load then anything else I had ever loaded. Once loaded I jumped into the game. While I played I grew very frustrated with the sluggish way the game moved once Hot Date was added. The pictures are still great, and the added way to talk to other Sims, and to just call to talk is great, but far out weighed by the fact that it can take 3 minutes (in our time not the Sims ever fast paced life)just to get my Sim to call a friend to go downtown, and to walk to the front door. The game simply freezes as the cd-rom loads up the next thing.
I am still happy to have Hot Date, but I find myself not really using it, and thinking of unloading it off of the computer. I do not think that it is worth the asking price to have something clog up your computer. The "multiple" new things you can have in the downtown area are okay, but not necessary.
Knowing what I know now I would proably choose not to buy, or ask for the product. Sims Hot Date is dissapointing for this fan of the series.

I love the new Hot Date Expantion pack because yo don't just stay in the same old boring house with the same people, you et to go downtown and hang out there. You can shop, go drink at a bar, go to the park and the beach. While you're their you can also try to ask some hot girls on a hot date like the mall, maybe for pizza or even kissing secretly in the alleys. You can also go to your house and stay there. This is one fun game that you would want to play, and it is comming near you on November 2001. It is only ..., get it for your birthday that is what I am doing.
How do u KNOW??

Oh My Gosh. I heard from my friend that there is another Expansion pack I thought it was HP it was talking about. Well anyways I am going to the sims main site ...and then on the main page it shows "The Sims: Hot Date" I am like what!? Now all I got to do is get some money and ask if I can pay half-price and my parents pay the other half. So I can pre-order it. Ever since the first sims came out I was like hey this is pretty cool. Then we I got the 2 EP's for my good grades I was like "Man, Know what would be nutz if you could go to other ppl's homes!" of course I thought this wasn't ever going to happen but now you get go Down Town make your own Beaches, Parks, Resteraunts, Diners, Clothing Stores, etc. Man I wish I can get this well anyways C ya. And one other thing I heard from a previous reviewer said youdon't need HP or LL to install it, but guess what you do you do. I had to re-install My sims and I did it in this order The Sims, The Sims House Party but then it said "We have detected you don't have Livin' Large please install that one first" Because you need the Patches from LL and some of the files from Hp thanks bye
you can tell by my name!!

This is a must have expansion for The Sims. In addition to more neighborhoods it also provides you with a downtown environment for your Sims to go shopping and meet new people. This makes it much easier to keep the Sims happy and to make enough friends to excel in their occupations.
HOT DATE! Great Fun!!!

Well, it's that time of year when the fantastic people at Maxis create and release a new Sims expansion that blows us away. Hot Date seems to be the best of the bunch. When you can go into a town, the games seems that much better. Don't you agree? My best friend and i have to agree on this after looking at the screen shots on thesims.com. The are amazing. Though I have not played Hot Date, it is sure to be a winner. 4 thumbs up from us. Botom line.....GET IT SOON!
A good start to expanding The Sims

I had the Deluxe Edition for about a year before I decided to buy an expansion. I purchased this one a few months ago because it had the downtown part to it. Finally, a way to get your Sims out of the house and to design restuarants and shops.
I admit that this pack can get boring. I mean, how many times do you need to see your Sims go out to eat and buy clothes? However, there are other fun interactions that make your characters even more fun than if left without an expansion pack, especially the relationship/lifetime friendship bars for everyone in the neighborhood.
Knowing about the other packs out there, this is a great starter. After using it for three months, I'm not tired of it, but I do look forward to buying an additional pack.
