One of the best of all times!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

The is one of the best AD&D games ever made. This game is different from all the other AD&D games out there. The setting and ideas in this game are the most interesting and involving of any AD&D game I've ever played. This game just rocks!

1) The graphics are a little dated and sometimes are hard to make out but don't let that distract you!
2) The sound, especially the voice acting is AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!
3) This is the only PlanceScape AD&D game available for the computer.
4) You can play this game as a hack and slash or with more panash as a wizard or Thief. Or you can play the game as all three, although your character would be too weak to be much good in endgame.
5) I love the character generation process. Really great!
6) Deep and engaging story! A real mystery that you can't stop playing, you are drawn to find out what's happening.

In short, this is a great game!

The best computer game ever.

This is the best computer game ever made. I don't think I need to say too much more about it. If you have a computer and use it to play games, you should really get this.

Satisfying to the core

I played it to the entirety and relished every part. I felt immersed in the characters and I was mesmerized by the detail and complexity in the world of Planescape.
Torment was my first foray into this domain and I am not disappointed. The game taught me patience and perseverence, a far cry from the instant gratification of Quake and other bloody games of skill.
The theme of self discovery and loss of innocence is almost beaten to death and used again and again, in many other works of creativity, but here it is presented in a somewhat unique manner.
Nonetheless, is that not the quest we are all on? To seek our true destiny in this world?
As a game, the proximity of the angle to the ground was comforting, and I have not seen that since, though I have played through Diablo and Baldur's Gate series. The selection of spells and their relevance in application was well done.
However the character development was an even higher point. Truely groundbreaking and satisfying!

I finished this game over a year and a half ago, but decided to buy it again for fun. Playing through again is like rereading an excellent novel. Graphic are great, sound is excellent, and the story is fantastic! The game is really a work of art. If you want an incredible adventure, this is the game to buy.

They dont make them like they used to

This is one of the best RPGs ever made. Only fallout 1/2 and Baldur's gate are close to competing. The reason for Torment's incredible effect is it's dialog. The story is outright amazing. I have fond memories of spending like 4 hours wandering around the "brothel for slating intellectual lusts" just talking to people. The game is a work of art and plays like an intense sci-fi/fantasy novel. They had to have written at least a novel's worth of dialog.

On a less positive note, the fighting is rather unchallenging. Don't expect baldur's gate or fallout like tactical gameplay. The dialog and storyline MORE than make up for the medocre fighting, and the game is not fighting heavy anyways.

I patiently await the day an RPG takes dialog to the level torment did. I also morn the death of Black Isle Studios.

Fallout 3 is coming out soon (after 10 years). One can hope...

Another universe... err... Multiverse!

I finished this wonderful game yesterday, and now... now I sunk in a deep crisis! No game looks the same after you play Torment. This is by far the best adventure game I ever played (I'm a fun of the Planescape setting) and I'm afraid that no sequel has been planned... yet... If you enjoyed Baldur's Gate BUY IT NOW! If you didn't BUY IT ANYWAY! The money I paid this wonderful game were the best spent in videogames in my whole life... P.S. Excuse my poor English, I'm italian...

A great game from the engine of the Baulder's Gate Series

This is a great RPG of ADD game rules. Following the Baulder's Gate engine, this makes for a great time. Good spell graphics, and items. A little weak on the armor and weapons, and the plot is very linear, but an all around impressive game.

One Awsome Game

I purchased this resently purchsed this magnificent game and i would wholeheartledly recommend it to anyone who enjoys computer games. This game incorporates magnificent graphics, a facinating and very much alive universe, and an in depth story line that puts Baldur's Gate to shame. I feel that anybody, wheather they love RPGs or those that dont, would enjoy this newest masterpiece from the people at black isle.

Fruitless Speculation

As has been observed, a sequel was not made. However, I had fun speculating what it would be like if various characters were selected as the hero of the next Planescape. (Since the Nameless One is unlikely to volunteer for a second starring role.) If Vhailor became the protagonist, the next game could be a lightweight slugfest with lots of goodies. If Nordom were the lead, it could be a humorous cartoon set in outer space or on a tropical island. If Annah starred, she could sneak into darkened mansions and stab people in the back. But wait, haven't all these games been made already? By retiring the The Nameless One, with his curiosity, his sordid past, and his intense passions, Planescape eliminates the possibility of a sequel with the ambiguity and mystery of the original.

Dissapointing for AD&D Players

I LOVED Baldur's gate. This game was dissapointing. It is much more geared toward role palying and you CANNOT die. That takes all the fun out of all those battles. If you are looking for a AD&D game, buy Baldur's gate or the new Icewind dale.
