It is as simple as that. There is no better RPG out there. I have played the Playstation version and it is still my all time favorite game. The graphics are breathtaking and the sountrack is so good it is worth going out and buyihng one.

I really totally disagree with what the shopper from USA wrote on 4th May. I shall just ignore that comment and suggest that you all do the same. In my opinion, FFVII is the king of RPG games, period.....Great music, great graphics, great playbility, and replayability. I have already completed it 5 times and counting. Totally awesome. To appreciate this game even more, think about all the extreme hard work which was put in to make this game. The graphics, the music.....millions of dollars was spent to make this awesome game. I am sure many who have played and enjoyed the game will agree with me. Did you ever know that most of the music was recorded by a real live orchestra? Only some parts were computer generated. And now with FFVIII on it's way, (the English version) I am sure that FFVII will still be a big hit for new RPG gamers to come. I have played some parts of FFVIII and I really cannot wait for the English version. AWESOME!!!! Guys, if you're reading this and have not gotten FFVII and if you are an RPG fan, then what are you waiting for? GO GET IT!!! :) No, I am not working for Squaresoft. I am just promoting a game with a whole lot of talented people behind it. Be it multimedia or music, they have truly done an outstanding job, and no one can deny that fact. Thank you.

Excellent, but disappointing compared to earlier FF games

In no way am I claiming that Final Fantasy 7 is a lame game, but when you compare it to earlier FF games it falls short. Final Fantasy 7 is by far the easiest of the FF series. Hardcore FF players will finish this game in just over 20 hours, which is a let down compared to the 40 or more hours of the others. FF lovers want an RPG that even the best of gameplayers will "Game Over" in several times while trying to beat it. Final Fantasy 7 was used to get people who have never played a FF game before to give it a try, and it worked. Compared to other RPGs, FF7 definitely has the best graphics and indepth storyline. However, many people who have played FF games since FF1 on the old 8-bit Nintendo are not interested in sound or graphics and were sorely dissapointed with FF7. They want enhancements and additions to the mechanics of the game. The only new mechanics that might create an argument for FF7 being the best in the FF series are the "Limits" (periodic forceful attacks) and the materia system (kind of like Espers in FF3). If you have never played a FF game before, FF7 is the game for you. However, if you are a FF follower, just re-play your old FF games or wait for FF8 to come out. But what am I saying ... If you really are a true FF fan, you will buy it anyway.

Great Graphics and Good Sound (Depending on your sound card)

This game has fantastic graphics for the fight and summonses and outer world. Movies are a little to pixellated for me. Recommend downloading to your hard drive instead playing off of CD ROM, much faster (if you can afford the space). My 16MB Voodoo Banshee is wonderful for this game!!

This is a MUST HAVE game for all RPG fans!

I love it! Soundtrack rocks, game runs smooth, it just rocks my world! If you love RPGs, then this game is for you. It is and always will be a classic. Now, if only FF VIII would come out on the PC also...

Better than Playstation Version!

The graphics look so cool in this because the polygons are textured! (unlike the Playstation version)

BUT - Final Fantasy III is WAY Better. Even though the graphics in this game are better, the music and the plot to the third game was much better. The plot is not REALLY interesting in this game, but it is still a blast to play - mostly because of the FMV's. This game has a lot of coolness to it.

A marvelous game, a young man learns of friendship and love.

Final Fantasy 7 was great! The gameplay was the best I've seen in a long time. The bosses where amazing.I also enjoyed the plot line, there was no trick ending or somthing like that where you have to beat it on a harder difficulty level. The cut sences were very rich and smooth.I recommend this game to anyone. But,by now you sould have a copy!

This game drags on an uninteresting plot far too long...

I have been very impressed with previous Final Fantasy games for the Nintendo console systems. However, this PC version was definitely NOT up to my expectations. One irritation was that you really need to have a 3D graphics accelerator. I was using a Pentium Pro-200, 64mb ram, Matrox Millenium graphics card, and the best I could do was to use 320x200 mode -- extremely chunky! Any higher resolution resulted in frame rates of about 2frames/sec. So don't buy this unless you have a 3D graphics card or are prepared to get one!

Despite that problem, that wasn't my biggest disappointment. Too much of the game was running back and forth, and getting in battles with old monsters -- there should have been ways to avoid monsters that were far below your characters levels. Also, the plot was not up to par -- it was cheesy, with bad writing, and dragged on too long.

That said, there are some redeeming features. Graphics for the spells are excellent, and the new 3D style is appealing. If I had it to do over, however, I would not buy this game.
