Red Alert 2 maintains Westwood's Lead in RTS gaming

I am a long-time fan of Westood's RTS games, so I might be a little biased. Red Alert 2 Follows the idea of Red alert with the soviets once again on the offensive. Although now on American Soil. It gives you a decent story line for both the Soviets and Allies, with surprising twists on both sides. However, you have no control over the way the story line plays out. You can't exactly choose you missions. They are just handed to you. Also the missions are ridiculously easy, on the hardest setting the entire game took me five hours for all the missions together. As for strategy this game was very staightforward: Blow up bases.
Where this game becomes worthwhile is in multiplayer(internet). With all sorts of new units you can take man to man strategy up a notch. The old-fashioned tank rush is fun still but can also be your downfall, because some units can teleport anywhere instantaniously and others can mind-control other units. These allow the more creative-not more powerful-player to easily gain the upperhand. I should know I've had the game for some while now, and know it inside out.

If you like C&C, this is even better than TS/Firestorm.
I was taking a chance to buy it, since Firestorm was sluggish
on the old dog, but it works with choppy video on my GATEWAY Pentium 166 (non-MMX), 128MB ram, no 3D card. Never tried net play but will need new puter first, I'm sure. Enjoy.

I would give it six stars if i could

RA2 Rocks if you like fast passed action, and first-rate animation. Loads of fun on or off line, two detailed campaigns, and excellent multiplayer support.

Just the best C&C game yet

RA2 is the the best game out yet from westwood. It keeps up the tradition of awesome videos, and this is one of the only games I have that has single player missions worth playing. The storyline is the same as RA1, but all the new units are great. There isn't really any deformable terrain like it says (unless you count bridges and trees) and you can still build on huge craters in the ground. :) The expansion is the first RA game to have 3 sides, and it really rules. There are still rules.ini files for RA2 and also so awesome mods online, and you can still play well online with dial-up with hardly any lag.

It's a keeper!

If Red Alert 1 makes you say "Holy!" or "Cool" well Westwood strikes again. Red Alert 2 is the best game. I used to always play roller coaster tycoon (great game) untl i got this. You can get Nuclear Bombs attack dogs for both allies and soviet. prsm towers, and even GIs. Trust me. I know my video games. Get Red Alert 2 too!I got this at [local store](I think) And that was denfitly worth the money. Thanks and God Bless!!!!!!*

*you and the United States

This game is the best game I have ever had. The best thing is the graphics are amazing. There are dogs that kill men when in sight, there are tanks that can destroy other tanks. There are different teams forexample:Russia,France,ect....
This game is so fun it can make you sit in front of the computer for hours on end, at one time I sat in front of the computer for a whole day. Red Alert has the best outline you could possibly think of.
France has probably got the best defence ever because the Grand Cannon Defence can be very brutal when the opposition get in range of this brutal weapon.
The Germans have a tank destroyer which can destroy a tank easily but it can not destroy a person easily.
Russia has to be the best because it's Teslia Tanks, Teslia Men and Teslia coils are the perfect things to destroy Men, Tanks and Buildings plus if you put a Teslia Man by your Teslia Coil you can power up your Teslia Coil which has a longer range and is a lot more powerful then the Teslia Coil itself.

This game is the bomb ! !

this game was the best strategy game i ever played. the good part was the graphics and even the sound. the levels had good themes on them. This game has good graphics and a good theme to it. The game design was good because it wasn't like the other strategy games that I played before. The first level of the game, when your playing as the allies, is pretty easy if you know what your doing. Of course the levels get harder and harder but that's what makes the game so fun. It would give you an intense feeling. If your playing as the solviets then your in for a treat. the best thing that they have on them is their ability to have nukes and the iron curtin. thats their strong weapons. for the allies, the weather machine and the chronosphere are their strong weapons. Also playing the computer can be fun. thats if your playing the skirmish games. they give you a practice and what to expect from each country you face.

It's a fun game to play!!

This is a very enertaining game to play, even though it lacks of that tech step forward. I think it is a good sequel of the previous C&C games. But westwood has to do something really spectarular to keep up. Maps and characters are like cartoons, the fire and sound are ok. The scaling still needs a lot of work.
Yet it is very easy to play!!

It is a great game

I think it is a great game. It is a great game for all people who love strategy games. If you are a veteran or a beginner player you will still have a great time with this game. If you are having a hard time deciding whether or not buy it I would definetly suggest buying it.

I think it is a great game. It is a great game for all people who love strategy games. If you are a veteran or a beginner player you will still have a great time with this game. I personaly like it because I like all the different units and all of the different buildings you can build. I also enjoy all of the different strategy you can use to defend you base and counquer the enemy. For more information on the game I suggest going to westwood.com. I would suggest buying the game only if you are sure you would like it but if it were up to me wast no more time reading this review and go ahead on buy it. If you enjoy this game you might want to buy Yuri's Revenge, the expantion pack of Red Alert 2.
