I have played quite a few computer games(Star craft, Red Alert 1, Brood War, C&C....) Out of all these games I think this game is the best. I would easily give it an A+. It is full of action. It has an enormous variety of units that you can build. The graphics is great. The terrain is destroyable and deformable. The buildings are really detaild. There are many ways to beat each mission. If you like PC Strategy games, this one should definitely be next on your list.
Red Alert 2s the best!!!

This Westwood Studio game is truly astounding. Wage war against real countries around the world, with devastating super weapons, such as Nuclear Missles, Iron Curtain, Tesla Coils, and Prism Towers. Infantry men transform into machine gun nests, surrounded by sandbags, and rienforcements arrive every minute.
Overall, this game is destined to be a classic.
awsome, with bonus stereotyping!

I bought this game and it's expansion pack (Yuri's Revenge) from a friends recommendation. I have yet to play the expansion, but I can tell you that the Number 2 is some of the greatest moments in gaming that I've had in a while. The graphics could, well, use some upgrading, at least on the individual "human" units. The people are rather chunky and pixilated, but everyting else (buildings, vehicles, explosions) look great, especially at high resolutions. As with any good RTS game, you get your standard Skirmish mode, Campaign, Internet play, and the ability to network through a LAN, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet because it requires more than passing knowledge of networks. Basically, if you have ever played Counter-Strike or any game like that where it just gives you a plain view of your local games, don't expect that in this game. Upon opening up the package, you will see 2 discs, the Soviet (my favorite) and the Allied. There different in ways like unit types, tech trees, and so on. The game is set in the future, so expect to see mind controling devices and tesla coils. At any rate, the story is told through the campaign, and you might want to grab the expansion (Yuri's Revenge) when you beat it, probably because you will be craving even more of this 5-star RTS.
A very great game!

Oh my! Westwood has done it yet again! Another great RTS strategy game and one of the few sequels to live up to its predocessor's name. There are more units, 3D battle plane, more units, more control. Buildings that can be entered by troops, veterancy, more nations to choose from (each with it's own special unit). This game is truly great. Only drawback is the limited air power of the soviet nations (no more MIGS just slow blimps). The graphics are great and a very cool refinement that the first RA did not have.
If you liked Red Alert you'll probably like Red Alert 2!
A Great RTS Game

To be honeset I have owned Red Alert 2 for quite some time and just never said anything about it publicly until now. This game is great! Much better then Red Alert or even Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 keeps a basic concept of all Command and Conquer games but enhances the fun and gameplay in it. The storyline is very well put together even though it's not very realistic. The storyline is simple: The Soviet Union is invading the United States and all of Europe in a revenge attempt from the first war they lost in the original Red Alert. There are 2 campaigns in which you can play. You can play as the Allies and stop the Soviets and destroy them or play as the Soviets and conquer America and the rest of the world. Both campaigns are very interactive and fun in which you fight in major cities throughout the world such as New York, Washington D.C., Miami, St.Louis, Colorado Springs, Paris, Moscow and many more and fight in countries like the United States, France, Russia, Poland, Mexico, Cuba and other territories. Much of the fighting is in an urban enviroments. You can garrison buildings and destroy famous landmarks.
Each side, the Allies and Soviets have their own special units. They both have the basic infantry unit: The American G.I. and the Soviet Conscript. The difference is that the G.I. is stronger and costs more, while Conscipts are weak and cheap to build in mass numbers. Soviet tanks have stronger armor but Allied tanks can have more firepower like Prism or Mirage Tanks. The building is easy: buy it and place it on the ground and go up the tech-tree to become more powerful. Basiclly you build and kill in every mission which can become boring but each mission has its own purpose and which units to build. Each side has a navy and airforce as well, however the American air power is much more powerful then the Soviet Air Force. Getting money is simple by building miners and collecting ore to build buildings, base defense, soldiers etc. The units are not as balanced as they are in Tiberian Sun which makes it more unique for both sides. Each side has superweapons like nuclear missiles or weather storms and even invincible devices or teleporting machines.
There are cut-scene videos in between missions which are very entertaining to watch. Real Actors! *WARNING*Known to be cheesy though. Overall the single-player game is excellent and the graphics are very good and better then Starcraft and the previous Command and Conquer games. Their is great color and building details.
The multiplayer on the internet is good and you can play as 8 differnet nations and have up to 8 players per game. The skirmishes are fun(not internet.) The same details apply and you can play different forms like free for all or deathmatches. The internet is not as well rounded as Starcrafts but still fun. Overall multiplayer is fun. The sound in the game is good and has different mixes to it and the units talk when you click on them. The game concept is fun and controlling hundreds of units can be a challenge but exciting. There is even a basic training course to help you. This game has everything a RTS should have and I have no complaints.

This is probably the classic strategy game on a pc. My son loves this game, and so do I. While it has lots of options for each nation you can play, there are not too many options like in Yuri's Revenge. Some maps are excellent. And you can create your own maps pretty easily with a free online program called Final Alert 2.
It seems that RA2 crashes a lot from internal errors and that no one has published a way to solve this problem. Even so, the game is dangerously addicting because it is so fun to play. Probably the best war game we own on any system.
If you have more than one pc that can go online via your ISP simultaneously, you might want a second copy so you can play with someone you know...that's even more fun.
The Best ever!

Red Alert 2 is a great real time strategy game. There are two different people to play as, the US and Russia. The game is set slightly in the future, with realistic technology. Some of the missions take a long time to do, since Westwood didn't add a cheat engine to the game. However, the greatest downfall of this game is that it has no map editor. The possibilities of this game are not as great as other real time strategy games, especially those made by Blizzard. This game is one of my favorites, but after comparing to other games, it gets points taken off.
