I didn't really buy into the hype for Halo 3, and I got exactly what I expected. It's a solid shooter with a well-designed single-player campaign, and incredible depth to the multiplayer system, but overall, nothing to write home about. It's well worth the money if you like playing online, and especially if you have friends who play it. It's worth the money, but missable, if you're only intending to play the single player campaign.

The people at Bungie are victims of what happens to so many great artists, they start to try to maintain their greatness by sustaining what they have. They lose their hunger for innovation. This is why so many great bands can never top their first record. When you are considered the greatest, you have nothing left to fight for. You also see it with great athletes. They have a couple of huge years, get the big contract and disappear. Bungie has lost their flair for innovation.
If you really look at Halo 3, what is new? Nothing. New vehicles? Are you kidding? The new vehicles are the same as the old ones in performance, they just have a different appearance. Does this sound familiar - Fight the Covenant, Fight the Flood, watch a main character die, then beat the game. Let's take a risk here. Not that this would have made it the greatest ever, but how many of you were just aching to fight the Covenant on planet earth in Halo 3? At the end of 2, I thought it was going to be awesome to fight in a futuristic New York or London. That would have been risky and a lot of people would have said it sucked, but Bungie would not be guilty of just sprucing up the same old environments with a few more weapons.
Now with all that said, the game on Xbox Live is still extremely fun. But, I still feel like I'm just playing a better version of Halo 2.
Halo 3 good not great.

Halo 2 was a phenomenal and at the time very fresh console multiplayer experience. While Halo 3 keeps many of the same qualities that made Halo 2 the great game it was, and also refines some of the issues that plagued Halo 2, it still doesn't deliver the homerun some might have been expecting.
Single Player/Co-op- The story delivers on a true ending which many Halo fans wanted after Halo 2. The levels are fun and exciting, minus the second to last level which is just not that fun to play. Co-op is as you would expect, great and definitely adds replay value to this along with the Metascore challenges which unlock achievements if you reach certain scores for each level. The scores can be based on team or individual scores. Multipliers can be added on to help your scores and these multipliers come in the form of skulls that you must track down during the single player campaign. Once found, the skulls must be activated and then will trigger certain gameplay challenges such as playing with no radar or not being able to see your weapon. The single player, though short was fun and may be worth a few playthroughs.
Multiplayer. What you would expect from Halo. Very balanced weapons, superb party system, replay system and armor customization. Weapons in Halo 3 are exactly what they should have been in Halo 2. The sniper requires much more skill since headshots are much harder to get this time around. The famed "n00b combo" has also been limited since the plasma pistol no longer homes in from long distances. The party system in Halo 3 is second to none since it is very easy to get in and out of games with your friends. The armor customization options are a nice addition so that you can personalize, somewhat, your online character. I do wish there was more armor to pick from, but this may come in the form of downloadable content later. Some aspects of the Halo 3 multiplayer still need definite attention since they detract from the experience.
First, melee battles sometimes are as frustrating as it gets. Someone may try a melee attack from 6 feet away and be zoomed into you with the melee lunge. Also sometimes you may melee a person with little or no shield and hear your melee register, suddenly though you will die after being melee'd by your opponent who should not have survived your attack. This may be attributed to the host advantage seen in Halo, but it is still very frustrating
Second, some people may enjoy the Halo 3 batch of maps, but I have found them to not be highly replayable. Halo 2 had a fantastic collection of maps that were fun a majority of the time, unless you played a map 5 times in a row. There is not one map in Halo 3 I can say I highly enjoy playing over and over again.
Third, the spawning system at times seems completely random. Example: Lets you say you are playing High Ground, which is a map consistng of a beach which then ascends up to a fortress. Sniper rifle spawns at the beach, so lets say a person on your team picks up sniper and decides to stay on the beach, which makes sense for someone who is sniping. Lets say the sniper snipes an enemy, who was at the fortress, from the beach. Suddenly while sniper looks for another person to kill he will be melee'd from behind by the person he just sniped. Though the spawning system was created so that spawn camping would be a no no, they should not have it where someone is spawned right next to an enemy. They should spawn right next to their teammates or somewhere in the vicinty of teammates not enemies. Sometimes you may be spawned completely away from the battle, though frustrating, does give you time to arm yourself for the fight ahead. This I prefer over spawning near enemies. This may be fixed in a later update but we will see.
Fourth, Halo 3 while having many new additions didn't add enough for the game to feel new and fresh. I think this may be mainly due the level of the competition since games like Gears of War, Rainbow Six, GRAW and Call of Duty all offer excellent multiplayer experiences. This I feel is Halo 3's biggest downfall in that it didn't do enough to make the game something I can consistently come back to over and over ala Halo 2. But this just my opinion.
Replay Editor- Excellent addition to multiplayer gaming. Fun tool to use after having an excellent sniping frenzy or having a stick from across the map. Rewinding should have been made easier, but having this option is still great. I also enjoy the ability to save replays from single player and multiplayer, along with the ability to take screenshots as well. All your videos and screenshots can then be loaded up to your Halo File Share and shown to your friends or people that check out your Halo File Share. Though it wasn't executed perfectly this is still a great idea.
Forge- This is Halo 3's level editor. Though I haven't done much with it, I do like the ability to adjust maps to my specifications, ala which weapons are on the map, the location of weapons, health for players, barrel spawns, etc etc. Though landmarks in maps can't be adjusted it is nice to be able to add things to maps that weren't there before.
In conclusion, Halo 3 is a good but not great game. While this game refines alot of the issues that plagued Halo 2, it still doesn't do enough to make it feel more than just the same old Halo formula. And while the Halo formula is tried and true, it might be something that could get a bit stale after sometime.

Man, I love the Halo trilogy as a whole. I was a little disappointed with Halo 2, but H3 more than makes up for it. Only major beef is that the campaign is only 6 hours long. The multiple difficulty and online cooperative levels add some replay value. The multiplayer is superb, if only they would find a way to get different type of matches into rotation.
Online replayability incredible

I've been playing this game for a month now and I am super impressed with the replayability of it through Xbox Live. From co-op to multi player it is very, very well done. The ability to customize game types is phenominal and the ability to watch complete replays of all matches and save clips is simply incredible. If you like FPS gaming, then this is a must buy game.

Personally, I am a Halo Addict, and this game sets my standard.
Although the "Spartan Laser" leaves something
to be desired, I still think its the best game on Earth.
The campaign has some good and bad levels, the flood is harder, but that
only makes it more fun, and for the covenant, it is not as good as the second. The multi-player is pretty good, but its X-Box live that sets this game apart, first, its grapics are beyond the scale, maybe better than "Gears of War", second, the weapons are like none-other, the new grenade is my faverite, and third, my friends and I thought that Halo 2 couldn't be beat, Halo 3 proves us wrong. So, all in all, this is the best game you will ever play.
¿finishing the fight?

I loved the gameplay, and heroic is the only way to truly experience the game. I was very dissipointed witht eh length of the game. It was way to short. I didn't like the fact that there were only 9 levels and those levels were so long. I would prefer 30 short levels to 9 long ones. Jackles are so much better with sniper rifles in this halo, and brutes patheticly easy. I loved the new skull feature, when activated it makes the game a whole lot harder. the problem with them is that they are way too hard to find. I have only found one of them without looking online for the places. The new vehicle 'hornet' is so much fun to use, but there are no levels where you get to use a banshi and only 2 short parts with the hornet. I would recomend buying this because of multiplayer and its replay value. A must have for any fan of the FPS.

Well Halo 3 finally ends the Halo story. This was a pretty good series, is it Gears of War no but still pretty good. This game was actually somewhat difficult, the aliens were smarter unlike your some of sqaud mates, the environments looked/sounded great. Your A.I companions didn't repeat themeselves much unless you were redoing a mission. The new weapons and equipment were good who doesn't love setting aliens on fire. Although up until you find cortana she'll interupt you during missions by slowing game play, it's still alien killing fun.
