I have to admit this game really got me mad for the first couple of weeks. But as I kept playing and learning the combos It got easier. The best way I think to get the right experience is to beat the game first with Mace Windu. He has a wide variety of moves that are very effective. That will unlock the "Survival" level. You get stuck in one room with one set of power-ups and 100 enemies drop in (2-3 at a time) to take a shot at you. They start with the non-shooting battle droids and cycle through all of the bad guys(minus Darth Maul) If you can beat all 100 you will unlock the true lightsaber which will take out everything in one blow! Once you unlock it you can switch it on and off too. I highly recommend this game to true Star Wars lovers who have wanted to feel the force! This game rocks!

The scenery and the music are great, but if you're not a diehard star wars fan, pass on this one...It's just too damn difficult. I'm going to have to get a Game Shark to get anywhere with this one. The graphics are a bit fuzzy at times also, and sometimes your character will inexplicably get stuck in the middle of the scene and die from assaults by enemies. I love Star Wars, but I think LucasArts (?) dropped the ball with this one.
The best Jedi Computer game to date!!!

Personally a fan of officially endorsed Star Wars games, I found Jedi Power Battles (JPB) to be the most satisfying and playable, especially for long-term enjoyment. The game closely follows the plot and action of Episode I, including 5 playable characters (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Adi Gallia and Plo Koon) from the film as well as cameo apearances from Jar-Jar Binks and Anakin Skywalker, let alone the two duels with Darth Maul. A must for any Star Wars fan, JPB offers hours of lightsaber action against enemies from the Star Wars world. The further you progress your chosen character in the game, the more abilities and combo moves you pick up. Each character has their own distinct style, force abilities and strengths, resulting in a game that is almost endlessly playable. Yet even with the game 'completed', there are opportunities to unlock secret characters and secret games which provide further intrigue and fun. Playable in both single and two player mode, JPB offers futher options of gameplay, the two player mode in this game being one of (if not the) best and most playable on the market.
Visually stunning, involving, and true to plot and character of Episode I, I found Jedi Power Battles far more playable than any of the Jedi Knight PC series, simply because of the 3rd person format and playablility of the characters: for any "Star Wars Saddos" who notice the combat manoevres in the film, the trademark moves of Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan are all faithfully reproduced and highly effective. So for anyone who wants highly involving, hard and fast action in the failing Old Republic, Jedi Power Battles provides all and more. A tried and tested master of this game, having played it fr nearly 2 years and done almost everything there is to do, my opinion is very simple - A total must.
Some critical points of the game...

I bought this game because of the two player option and I really wanted a game that would, as the people at LucasArts said, allow someone to fight like an experienced Jedi night.
What I would like to do here is list what I believe to be problems with the game. One, I really do not like games that teach me through death, and I do not like the fact that the levels in this game do this.
With that, the problem lies in the checkpoints of each level of play. One, they are way too far and in-between in may cases. If I die, I will have to start so far back at times that I really thought there was a missing checkpoint that I missed somewhere. Not true. It's really that far back.
The second problem lies in the visuals. As I have read in many reviews and I will hit this again, the visuals do not allow for accurate movement. You will die because of a misjudgement in perceived space. The force of the visuals are not with you here.
One of my biggest pet peaves in this game is that many times I will die and I didn't even know it. Because of this I keep hitting my jump or move button, which, because of my not knowing, put my next life to an instant death because the screen refreshed so fast. At least start me off with some pause to set the scene once again! I hate that! I lost a lot of extra lives because of this.
Lastly, the final battle with Darth Maul was quite un-impressive. I gathered from the text that I learn my Jedi powers to use them against my nemesis in the end. What it became was my mindlessly hitting my buttons faster than Darth Maul could hit me. Not impressive at all. If you back off of DM for a second he will whoop your butt so fast with moves that you simply cannot even defend yourself from. That's not fun and it's not realistic either.
It's fun to be a Jedi, and this game will give you that, but you will have to expect less for it.
Jedi Power Battles.....ehhhh

Alright. If you liked Episode I for Playstation, you'll probably enjoy this game. It pretty much just gives you more of a chance to just go around killing things with your lightsaber. Graphics are pretty decent, but the control leaves some to be desired. In fact, the control kinda stinks, to be totally honest. Playing 2 player also proves difficult due to precisely timed jumps that make it extremely hard to cordinate with another. But over all, I think its a decent game. But I would wait till the price drops a bit before buying.

On the back of the case the games motto says: deflect. defeat. destroy. Well...uh...you kinda get that "destroy" feeling when you fire a laser back to who shot it. This game is incredibly fast paced- a definite rent more than once or buy for fans who enjoy fighting games. The controls aren't the greatest, like jumping on really thin hunks of land, but it only takes 10 minutes to master the controls of your character's inner Jedi lightsabering skills. A couple great additions to this game is deflecting lasers or bullets, and the 2 player mode. Teach you're friends how to play and use the Obi-Won Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn duo. You can also do pretty cool combos to chop you're enemies into bite-size pieces. Overall this game is a must, and I reccommend it to anyone.

Jedi Power Battles is the best star wars game I,ve played on Ps1 and beats the inferior Phantom Menace!!
Like most games it takes a bit of time to get used to the controls and can be frustrating when first playing it. But once you master the jumps and moves it becomes very enjoyable!!
The levels are very inventive and well thought out. After each level you get special combo moves, but it is optional wether you want to use them. The handling of the characters is good and the range of moves is also good. The people who are critizing it probably have not learnt to play it!!!
The graphics look a bit dated compared to the newer stuff, but it is a must for a starwars fan!!
The only critisim is the Plo Kloon character is too slow and is impossible to beat DarthMaul on level 10!! I have been playing this game on and off for a year and would recommend it!!!!!!!
It's the Hard that Makes it great!

I've read so many reviews of this game that blast it for being difficult to play. I for one think that is the best feature of it! This is a game where you get a little further each time you play it. The way games are supposed to be. So maybe you can't rent it and beat it in 3 days, thats good. The difficulty of this game is what makes it well worth the price. And the two player feature, teaches you to cooperate. You can't just fly off the handle and do your own thing, you have to work with your fellow Jedi, and act as ONE unit. I STRONGLY recommend this game to anyone who wants a challenging game to play. Good Luck, and May the Force be with you...
