Boycott (plus it sucks)

For an event that didn't happen so long ago, this game is cruel. Not only is it unethical, but it's not entertaining either. Although I've only played the demo, I felt extremely let down. This game isn't even original. It's like every other first person shooter out there.

Trust me when I say this game is weak. I don't know what all the 4 and 5 star ratings are about for this game. If you are under 15, maybe this game is interesting. BUT if you have played MOH or COD, Counter Strike, Raven Shield...then this game will seem very lame and silly to you.

The missions are uninspired, recycled garbage. The game engine, graphics and the game AI are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!

It is no fun when you are trying to shoot enemy troops and your soldiers just walk right in front of you and stop or just ignore the troops shooting at them from 3 feet away or when they constantly shoot into a wall because an enemy soldier is hiding behind it(funny how they cannot figure out how to kill an enemy 2 feet away in the open but they can see through walls!!) Believe me when I say your squad mates will constantly get in your way and block your path !!!!

At the VERY LEAST - either download a demo or borrow a copy from a friend and test drive this yourself before spending $30 or more on this garbage.

NovaLogic used to make some decent games back when I had a 386 DX2 with a 210MB hard drive and Windows 3.1, and even then the game AI was so-so. NovaLogic has not changed a bit

Skip this and spend your money on the games that are really going to knock your socks off.

This game is notjust a shooting delta force game. It portrays real men who were there and it is a complete dishonor to them. Also this is different from medal of honor. the troops that landed on Normandy numbered in the the hundreds of thousands while the troops in Somalia numbered far fewer. The delta and Rangers numbered in the hundreds and when you are in a chalk of 10 guys yyou could be portraying one of the men who died. This is DISGRACE and DISHONOR to the men who were there.

I'm really not impressed. Yeah, the graphics are good (if you have the computer to support it) but the overall fun value is very low for the single player mission. It's just a bit too easy to kill the enemy (almost like using auto-aim). How can one shot to the abdomen take a man down so easily? Plus, you can't control how far grenades are thrown. There's way too many scripted elements in the game... for instance, if you don't kill this guy first with the RPG, then you die. If you don't kill this guy that runs around the corner, then the hostages die. It's just too scripted and not a very customizable pre-mission setup.

I found this game was very entertaining albeit very scripted. Imagine yourself an actor in an alternate version of the movie. It places you in a very good story with some interesting maps and missions.

Most of the game is fairly easy; however there were a few scripted encounters that caused me trouble. As usual, save and save often as you never know when an RPG is going to be shot down upon you from atop a building.

Pros:
A quick fun action game
Beautiful graphics in a desert urban environment

Cons:
Very short game
Horrid multiplayer
Scripted AI

All in all this game makes for a fun afternoon or weekend especially if you liked the movie. As of yet, I have not tried any of the expansions or sequels.

Novalogic gets its act together with something that can at least approach Counter-Strike. The original DF games suffered from horrible graphics and the DFLW games while much improved still looked kind of lame even though they were quite fun in multiplayer.
The game overall is fine in single player and has the usual limitations such as extremely stupid enemies, but you buy this game for MULTIPLAYER. Fighting real humans over the internet is where its at. Weapon physics are better and no longer can you do things like pick off people from a kilometer away using an Squad Automatic Weapon. Maps are quite a bit better and it will be interesting to see what future maps users come up with.

As for the political aspects of it and the nay-sayers, well shutup you morons. The USA hasn't won every war its fought, and thats the reality. If we suppressed everything relating to battles lost there would be no vietnam games, no war of 1812 games, no somalia games, no civil war games (americans lost the civil war, don't tell me 618,000 battle deaths fighting amongst ourselves is some sort of a victory, just a failure of common sense among our leadership).
Politics aside, its a good game. BTW get a powerful computer system for this one, and a powerful video card. I have a very expensive workstation card and what do you know....the game plays great! Don't expect your old TNT2 card and a Duron 900 to be sufficient.

Even Mark Bowden, the author of the book Black Hawk Down, thinks that this game should never have been made. Aside from the atrocious teammate and enemy AI in the demo and the hideous performance when the players enter buildings, the memory of every fighting man that died in Somalia is DISGRACED by turning that abattoir into a traditional first-person shooter.

I bet anybody who was there or had ever served in the military would be stunned that this game allows you to get shot multiple times and then run over "health packs" to regain your health. Just like real war, right folks?

This is so abominable every copy should come with an apology. Even though NovaLogic is based in California, I doubt many Americans work there.

Great game, But for those [***] that programed some of the missions,need their head examined by Someone... I am a disabled veteran, I consider myself a sharpshooter,but I know it would be impossible to pick off soldiers from the side of a helicopter, at 100 feet in the air, cruising at about 40 to 60 mph. I find it hard for anyone, to have been so stupid ,as to put, some of these missions on a game. Someone tell me I'm wrong. I would have given this game 10 stars if it wasn't for some of the missions. PEACE: Novalogic,I am Disappointed, because I have more of your games, that are good if not excellent, They include delta force 2, df2lw, commanche 4, F22 lightning 3,tackyon the fringe, . Need to come out with some patches Asap. Ok, some of you gamers are intelligent, but some of you are ignorant. Lets talk, computer requirements. I have a intel celeron, 1.7ghz pent 4 processor, Nvidia, Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64mb ddr 4x\8x agp video card, creative soundblaster pci 512 sound card.Ecs p4mm2 Mainboard, 10/100 Ethernet adapter(onboard).512MB PC 133 SDRAM, 52x Litheon cdrom. OK, I completed every mission except the first one Marka Breakdown. On this mission I had a problem aiming the machine gun with my mice, due to a lot of lagging and hesitation. TRhe humvees were even moving along in a very choppy manner(low frame rate). I running windows 98. I am running over 90 games on my computer, the oldest game,Silent Hunter(dos based). the newest,or latest Splinter cell. These are a few other games I'm running on my cp. Mscombat FS 1,2 and 3, B17 flying fortress, Sof 1, and 2, Ghost recon,operation flashpoint, battlefield 1942, medal of honor allied assault, which also has the machine gun episode on the old humvee, jeep, but it runs smooth, it was fun destroying the 2 truckloads of german soldiers, and the planes, old my the aiming was so smooth in this game. I have vietcong,conflict desert storm, deadly dozen 2 the pacific theater,navy seals,vietnam special assignment 2, line of sight vietnam, mechwarrior 3,4 including vengeance,blacknight, and mercernaries, f12002,2001,and 2000, and the official formula one cdgame ,1998, colin Mcrae rally 2and 3, viper racing, Star trek Bridge Commander, Klingon Academy, starfleet academy, the dominion wars, Il2 Sturmovik, USAF, Israeli AF,Commanche vs hokum, gunship 3, team apache, Rally sport challenge by microsoft, tribes 2, heavy gear 2,destroyer command ,sub command, silent hunter 2, steel tide, ww2 fighters. Now, some one tell me , is it my computer , or is it the way the game was formatted. the Multiplayer mode runs a lot smoother, than does the singleplayer mode. I personnaly believe this game was formatted to heavily for the multiplayer mode to such extreme, that the singleplayer mode was just ignored, which in turn caused errors, glitches,and very low frame rates at certain levels,on different missions. The game does not detect the components of your computer correctly. For instance , when I installed the game on my computer, the game adjusted itself, according to my computers' power, all the settings were automatically set at high and full detail,...... I would like to hear from another reviewer on this mattter. Thank you, a Disabled Viet Nam Era Veteran........Running windows 98, for all you gamers that don't know, windows 98 is partitioned on every Windows XP operating system, just look for the windows 98 compatability mode, ther are some games that will ask you if you are use to using windows 98 to run the game, so you will be prompted to put a check mark in the box beside windows 98.

This game is a huge disapointment. Of cousre novalogic makes it so that explains the reason it's (bad). There detail is not good the charecters dont even look as good as soilder of fortune 2. The controls (are bad), can cant adjust the mouse sensitivity. The guns are weak. The only cool things about the game are that it has a big levels, and you can fly in the black hawks shooting the gatling gun. Other than that the game is poor and if you want a good game save it for counter strike condition zero.
