I got a chance to play this game at the Gundam Invasion Tour. The graphics are nothing short of amazing with the dub cast of the TV series translating. Each level characterizes an episode from Gundam 0079. From the in-colony Gundam activation to the secret Garma attack. Even though you only get to use the RX-78-2 Gundam, you have a variety of options at your disposal. You can use beam cannon, beam saber and Gunhammer. You can also call for support and use your Vulcans. Sometimes the fighting gets a little tough. For instance, trying to take out all the tanks that can transform into jets is no easy task. And trying to take out the Gau in Garma's Fate almost seems impossible. But Im a novice, so what do I know. However, Mobile Suit to Mobile Suit combat is pretty good, even if there is no real strategy to it. And the jets are great allowing you to even fly higher than Gau's. You'll need them since moving around in a Gundam is no easy task. Even if the movement is a little chunky, it still looks very realisitc. The game gives off a certain Rogue Squadron feel to it, which will make you feel a lttle bit use to it.
Anyway, until Zeonic Front comes out, this is the best Gundam game ever created! If there is one game to buy for the PS2, this is it! Highly recommended.

If youre a Gundam wing fan and dont want to do any thing even related to the older series this game well make you change. The grphics are really good I'd say millon times better then Mech warrior2. The controls arent bad but have there disapiontments. For instance the thursters are x while a better place is L2 or L1 . I myself have only played it twice and I want to again . In the game you pilot the original Gundam but dont think youre alone there are guntanks and others to help you out so give this 0079 based game achance and youll see for youre self how fun it is
A must buy for Gundam fans

i just got this game and it is Great. The Gameplay is great, and same with the sound(which was taken from the series). the graphics could be better and control is ok, and the Story mode should of been longer(I beat it in 2 days), but the tactics battles make up for it with the ability to play every MS (Mobil suit) in story mode pluse some. It would be better if you know the orignal Gundam series, not Gundam Wing, but even if you don't it's still a great game. If you don't even know Gundam, then toonami has the Gundam series running. Overall i gave it a 5 star for a great game and a must buy for gundam fans.
A very fun game

Great graphics, good sound, good gameplay, lots of replay appeal (prove you're a newtype), better than the reviews would lead you to believe,I definately got my moneys worth.
I'm a slight gundam fan, I've only watched the episodes that air on the Cartoon network (O8th MS team being my favorite). Before buying the game I read the reviews on ign and some other web sites. They all gave the game moderate reviews and so I was a little worried about the game.
Once I started to play the game, however, I soon realized how wrong the reviews were. The controls work just fine and seem to be fairly realistic. The lock on feature is nice, but hitting airborne targets is hard, just as I read in the reviews. You never actually have to hit many Dobbs, just Gaws and those tanks that turn into airplanes. I thought that the story mode was moderately difficult and the fact that you're graded for newtype potential makes me want to go back and improve on my failing grades. The tactics battle mode is pretty cool too. You get to use different mobile suits to accomplish various missions. There is even a mobile suit from 08th MS team. Since I never saw the show in the original japanese, the dubs seem fine to me. I think that they use the same voices as on the Cartoon network. One thing that annoyed me was that the anouncer didn't use an ominous voice to announce the latter stages in the story mode. It's sooo cool on TV. I didn't think it was hard to tell if I was close enough to use a sword, just lock on and the distance to the target is displayed right on the screen. I didn't get any of the alternate weapons and so I can't really say how well they'd work. The gun cannon and gun tank really are eye candy and every time I called for backup, they refused.
Mobile Suit Gundam... SWEET!!!

It dosent have the best graphics but it makes up for that with scenes from the popular TV series and great gameplay- be the Federation or lead the Zakus as the Zeons.
Tis a good game

I really felt that this game was going to be a bit more of a drag than it actually was. Up until a week before I got the game, all I saw were pictures from the Japanese release that didn't seem crisp enough to call PS II caliber. However though, when I received the game, I was extremely gratified to see that all of those nasty rumors of bad graphics were based upon the Japanese release. So quite firmly put, the graphics were astounding in this game. Though it is hard to judge reality in a completely animated world, it seemed very believable. At first the HUD seemed a bit confusing but it's just a matter of time that limits your abilities. Once you get a few hours in you will have no problem at all controlling and reading your HUD. So far I have completed the story mode and have conquered all of the bonus missions however not on all of the bonus mobile suits. Yes I will give the original Gundam credit for being what it is, but the bonus mobile suits are far more worth it. In the end, I would assume that you basically get everything that the game has to offer in the campaign and bonus missions though I could be wrong. Once you get relatively far into the game, your choice of mobile suits becomes a buffet. I realize that the cut-scenes from the TV show can cause a few people to think that the voices might not be correct. But, this is not entirely true. For the most part, the voices are very accurate (for cartoons) and if I didn't know any better, I would say that they were original American cartoons but then again nothing good ever really comes out of America right? Firestone tires for example. Even though I know I have left out several aspects to the game, it is perfectly worth the money and the time spent to complete it. Not a doubt in my mind at all. So go out and rent it if you would like to try it out. I'm quite sure that you will be as impressed with it as I was.
This game is super.

I was not much of a Gundam fan, until I purchased this game.
The controls take a while to get use to and you are going to be re doing some missions to finish them (it's a tough game).
This is one game that really shows what the PS2 can do.
You got to get this game.

I really couldn't believe it when Jorney to Jaburo came out for PS2. This game totaly rocks! However the controls may be a bit confusing for first time players you'll get used to them sooner or later. The graphics are just unbelieveable. The landscapes mixed with the cut sceens from the the anamie suck you in the game. The sound while not superb is very good. I would recomend this game to anyone who likes Gundam. If you know about Gundam only through Gundam Wing you might not like it as much. This game has a moderate challenge.Plus there are some unlockables in the game mainly tactics mode. In this mode you can play through the game with more than 15 new mobile suits. You could almost feel sorry for the Principality of Zeon troops. On the other end the Zaku's look darn cool when they blow up. Overall I think that Mobile Suit Gundam: Jorney to Jaburo deserves a resounding Seig Zeon!

I don't get why everyone thinks Gundam is a waste of time? I think Amored Core is stupid but every one likes it because its all fast action, one shot kill, and you get money.Did I mention easy. But everyone hates Gundam because of its challenging controls. If the controls are to hard then why don't you just play better the next time you play. Theres also nothing wrong with the graphics. I don't know why people think that graphics are all that importent.Gundam is a great show and the game is a great replica. All I have to say is that you should stop complaining about this generation of gaming.

Hello there.I would just like you to know that I own this game and it is pretty good. The sound effects from the gundam movie series are the same on this game. The graphics are awesome too. You get the usual weapons like the beam rifle which you can probably beat the game just using that. The gundam is a bit slow, but knowing its weight I wouldn't complain. And be careful waht you step on. I have stepped on cars, flew up on buildings to snipe Zakus, and believe me, they will collapse. Too much will take a tiny piece of health away. Oh, and you can be other suits like the other gundams and even the Zakus. But remember, each m.s. has their own different stats. You can also watch different animated movies on the gallery section. You even gat a special option if you complete story mode. But it won't be easy knowing Char is going to face you. So far, I have beaten the game, since I'm an expert, but the controls are not that hard to understand, so I'm sure you could to.
