So, we were first told about Counter-Strike: Condition Zero back in 2000, when Counter-Strike was still a GOOD multiplayer gamer, not ridden with as many hackers, and definitely not flooded with annoying high-pitched kids telling eachother off through the voice chat feature.
As you would expect from my anger witnessed in the above paragraph, I stopped playing the game. I waited and waited to get CS:CZ, the messiah of the Counter-Strike title. So, it just so happens that the game gets pushed back a few months, and then to the next year, and then the year after that. After a while, I lost interest in the game and just assumed it would never come out; I was wrong.
So, out of no where, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero appears on the shelves of game stores everywhere -- and at a pretty unbelievable price! What's there to lose? I picked up a copy and ran home with it -- ditched my important work I had to finish at home and saved it for later, now it is Counter-Strike time! I load it up and what do I get? Well, first, for all you Linux users, it was VERY hard to get emulating correctly on WineX. If you are a Linux user and a member of the WineX community, look at the message boards because there are now posts on how to get the game running correctly. So, once I get my emulation problems out of the way, I was up and running with my game. Impressed? No, I wasn't even close to impressed. Graphics haven't improved even close to what I would have expected them to in this day and age. New content? A little: You get a few different weapons, some fixed bugs, a few new multiplayer maps, and a single player addition to the game. So, on with the single player:
It's awful. And unlike many games such as Unreal Tournament 2003, graphics were NOT saving this gameplay fault. It's not very easy to explain really, but all you do is play the role of a counter-terrorist leader trying to take down a terrorist organization from committing random acts of crime. No depth to this story here, this is no Max Payne. Overall, the single player is not a great addition to this dying mutliplayer title.
Could anything, oh ANYTHING save this game from getting one star? Something sure did save it! Multiplayer, something I haven't got into yet, is a bit out of the ordinary for Counter-Strike players. First, it DOES NOT use that AWFUL 'steam' program to connect to servers. Thank god. Second, it has implemented a nice little feature that STOPS HACKING ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT OF SIGHT!! Thank you for this, because the cheaters on Counter-Strike ruined the game for everyone, and this is the one feature of the game that I thought was worth the four-year wait. However, not much has changed at all as far as GAMEPLAY goes in the multiplayer version of this game; still your plain ol' terrorist vs. counter-terrorist game trying to defuse the bomb or rescure the hostages or whatever. And a note: if you hate Counter-Strike like I do for the same REASONS that I do (the ANNOYING, and IMMATURE players, especially all the little children with terrible net-ediquet), you will NOT be satisfied in this game. Why? Oh, simply because there's MORE of them in the Condition Zero game over the original game. Don't blow your money on this game as an excuse to leave the terrible playing environments found in the original, because this is no sollution in Condition Zero.
So, this game isn't technically advanced (in the areas of video OR audio), this game isn't offering a very stellar single player game, and the multiplayer game can be found with the FREE version of Counter-Strike minus a little of the non-friendly environments. What good is this game? Beats me. Overall, this game would have earned maybe three stars or MAYBE even four stars had it come out on time. But honestly, we DID NOT wait four years to get a game of such low quality.
Don't waste your money on this game. There's better games to be bought for this price range. You can try Max Payne 2, a great single player game. Or you can try out the warcraft series, a game I LOVE in the multiplayer scene. For a little bit more money, Unreal Tournament 2004 is possibly one of the best multi AND single player games I have EVER played in my LIFE. These are better options that will keep you occupied when you're bored and feel the need to play a video game.
Don't buy this. I hope my review has helped many concious-buyers out there :)
this game is da best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Counter-Strike is the best. It's not UT2K4 or Halo, it's a team based game that puts good vs. bad. You do 1 of 2 things: you get to rescue hostages or defuse bombs; or kill all of the bad guys or good guys. It just depends on the side you're on. Now the multiplayer, it's the best: like the first time you kill somebody, you get hooked. The first time you die, you get hooked even more. I got it November 29 and I still stink at it, but it's fun! You don't have to be good to have fun. You don't come back after you die, you have to wait until the next round begins. The 1st player game is ok, but no where near as good as multiplayer. You need Steam to play multiplayer. You need to install Steam. It will take about 30 mins, but it will be worth it. Overall, it is the best game ever! Oh! Get UT2004, Halo and AVP2. They are all good multiplayer games, and they all get 5 stars. Jeff O.

This will have way better grafix, way better player models, ,and a lot more player models. No more of the entire terrorist team being the 1337 kr3w model. There are new weapons, like the machete,Galil , FAMAS, Molotov Cocktail, gas gernade, law, and the M-60E3..../
The AI for the single player is suposed to be really good, the enimy just doesnt sit there, then all of a sudden wake up when he sees you, they patroll, learn from what happened before. Counter-Strike (a 3 year old game) still has thousands of people playing it all at once. I think condition zero will be as fun, or even funner than what cs is now!!!

I have been playing Counter-Strike for about 7 months now and I cant stop playing!! Its so addicting. I didnt have to pay for my CS because a friend downloaded it for me. Anyway, CS:CZ looks like a great sequel. New weapons (Some of them are FAMAS, Galil, Molotov Cocktail, M60, LAW Rocket Launcher, and a Machete knife)and great looking new character models. CS:CZ is not only multiplayer: It has a single player mode so any n00bs (begginers) that need to improve their skill and test it against the AI bots in single player mode. When you play online, you dont have to worry about h4xx0rs (hackers) because CS:CZ has updated versions of HLGuard (Half-Life guard) and CSGuard (counter-Strike guard). Those are some good improvements because h4xx0rs can ruin the game your playing. Even though it says RP (Rating Pending) on the box, I know the the ESRP (people who give games ratings) will make it M for mature. I dont blame them. There is blood and gore in this game, and when you play online people can swear and say other offensive stuff, unless swearing isnt allowed on that specific server. Also, players can download custom spray paints and that could be porn/swear words/racial comments, or anything offensive. I am only 13 and belive me, i have seen alot when playing online, and its pretty rude . Even CS:CZ has its bad things, it is a great and fun game to play i think

Team-based first person action battlefield shooters have brought a new era of gaming in the video game industry. These games are fun to play, do not need a depth in storyline, and provide a freedom in gaming, by which people can do just about anything, pick and side and fight to the finish. These games (also known as "pick and play" games) provide the best gaming experiences for everyone. You aren't required to understand any storyline, however, only required to teach yourself the skills of being patient, determined and accurate.
The counter strike series has full-filled its task as one of the best "pick and play" games of the year. Ofcourse, we have other good games such as unreal tournament and Battlefield 1942 by which the same requirments are provided. What distinguishes CS with UT and BF is the lack of vehichles. CS is more of a first person shooter than a war simulation as BF requires the knowledge of first person shooting, however, with the ability of driving vehichles, using stealth and camo. along with other existent methods of infiltration. This serves to be the biggest dispointment of CS. However, producers are wokring on maps where you can use vehichles to an extent.
CS:C0 features many game modes. For once, single player is available. You have 2 options in single player. One is to join the campaign missions where you get to accomplish several tasks for both terrorists or counter-terrorists in several "hot-spots"/continents. Each continent has different multiple maps where you can play in. Those maps tend to be linear. This means that you cannot infiltrate places by using several different routes, however, can only take down something or someone by following a singular path. This isnt a tradition in CS since many games such as UT, BF and CS tend to be more non-linear, which means that you can go anywhere, anytime and under any method of infiltration. Now, the other single player mode is known as OFFLINE SIMULATION. This is a more fluent version, which doesnt require you to follow a certain path. All you do is pick a map, pick either counter-terrorist or terrorist and then battle it out. Ofcourse, you can win rounds by being last man standing or diffusing/setting out a bomb. Other tasks include saving/preventing hostages from escaping.
As for AI, i tell you this now, AI is more smarter and capable of performing tasks. They are quick, determined and perform multiple methods of infiltration or detection, which makes you keep thinking of what they might do next. Other things AI do is learn your moves. They will know exactly where you hide, or go to if you keep repeating the methods. Thus you must confuse them by going to different locations each time unless you're asking for a death wish ;)
Graphics, amazing, ive seen the videos and screenshots and i know that pictures are worth a thousand words. Therefore, im not afraid of that. As for pc lag time in multiplayer, im not worried about that. As long as my ping is alright with BF1942, its alright with CS:C0 since there will be less load on my pc with this game than others.
Sound, more amazing, now you can have more commands, more realistic voices of both guns and the sorrounding environment (birds, water etc) Ofcourse, voice commands are even better nowadays than before.
Steam; now cs players can play along with CS:C0 players as long as they have updated patches, files and maps!
Conclusion, buy it, its cheaper than other games, more fun than most other games, and its summer in a few months =P

Don't go dissing CS: CZ untill you read all the facts. Valve is including an ANTI-CHEATING program with CS: CZ... so their can't be any cheating on-line, only in single player mode. This is because of all the cheating from the original CS. But I can't wait to buy this game, it's gonna be awesome. Its filled with new players, weapons, gernades, equipment, tons of new maps, WAY better Graphics (yes, they can be better)... Also, don't download the MOD off the internet, buy it. THe one off the internet doesn't come with special graphics and options.. oy.. I can't wait.
