I've was waiting almost two years to play this game and when it finally came out, I bought it! The biggest gaming mistake of my life. I have played Counter-Strike for over two years and its great. Condition Zero is no more then CS version 1.6. The graphics are almost the same, the new weapons can't be used online or on the single player mode that it has. Single player is nothing more then just facing off agaisnt bots and accomplishing objectives like get 3 kills with a sniper rifle or win a round in less then 75 seconds.
Valve promised so much new. Better graphics? Nope. New weapons? Nope. New maps? Nope. All the maps in CZ are either Counter-Strike maps or just maps you see all the time that are popular in version 1.6 of Counter-Strike. The only way to get new skins like the Russian and Japanese Counter-terrorist soldiers or U.S. Militia terrorists is to download of differnt sites. There only two new things that are truly new. The single player which is just facing bots. Great for people with a bad internet conncection. The other thing is "Deleted Scenes" which are about a dozen missions around the world ridding the world of terrorism. That is the only place where you will find the new weapons that were promised. At best the Deleted Scenes are medicore and the worst just total crap. Feels like playing a 40 dollar version of Half-Life that came out in 2004 with better games like UT:2004, FarCry and Battlefield Vietnam.
The graphic engine is about the same as a Quake 2 engine. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault used a Quake 3 engine and it came out in 2001. Condition was supposed to come out in 2000 as a patch that added to Counter-Strike. I enjoy Counter-Strike a lot, but Condition Zero is just a complete waste that should be 1.7 patch for CS. Valve should be completely ashamed of themselves. They charge 40 bucks for a game they released four years ago. Do not buy this game. Pity Valave and move on. CS was great and still is plus its free. CZ in one word: sucks. I feel ripped off and play new and better games. Valve is living in the past where they will whither and die.

I've been waiting years for Condition Zero(CZ) to come out but now that it's out, it's to little to late. CZ is extremely dissapointing for a hard core CS veteran like myself. The meat of CS has and always will be multiplayer and CZ adds nothing new other than updated graphics. The singleplayer aspect of CZ is mediocre compared to games like Call of Duty and Far Cry. Too add to the disspapointment CZ comes out a week after UT2004 and Battlefield Vietnam which are both superb multiplayer games.
Good
+ Intelligent Bots
+ Updated Graphics
Bad
- Same old CS gameplay.
- Mediocre single player.
- Adds NOTHING new to multiplayer.

I have read a few reviews, and they are almost right. After installing Condition Zero, I clicked on the icon and proceded to play a regular game of counter strike, with mild upgrades, against bots whom are suprisingly realistic. This was cool but I felt ripped off at the same time. Then I clicked on the Counter Strike deleted scenes icon that setup had placed on my desktop and found an entirely different game. This game had all new terains, weapons, models, and layout (plays kind of like half life)
Evidentally the Deleted scenes are what was actually being advertised. After finding this, I no longer felt ripped off, and am contently looking forward to a new T vs CT conflict. So if you do buy this game, go ahead and play the original with the bots, it is still fun (and seems a little more stable than the original) But if that gets old, remember that there is an entire new game named Counter Strike Deleted Scenes (a stupid and misleading name) on your desktop.
You really should buy this game

You should buy this game because you can't play CS online anymore.
Valve took down its WON servers so you are going to have to update to 1.6 anyway. Might as well buy CZ and get the whole thing overwith. Most server owners out there are buying CZ because it doesn't really cost that much. Not really. And you get to play online as much as you want without having to pay $20 a month like evercrack.
I say all this because I myself run a server for Condition Zero.
All you people who bought it before come play on my server. Its for newbs only and it has the added wc3, which is free, it downloads by itself from my server. wc3counterstrike.com is race based, with special abilities per kill and per hostage rescue/bomb plant.
Lots of admins on all the time. Come on down and have some fun. And if you don't have the game yet, hurry up and buy it and play with us!
It ain't your grandfather's counterstrike

The people who wrote the one-star reviews with concerns about out-dated graphics and cheating obviously haven't read any reviews about this new game. Steam is now going to be able to update the game seamlessly and unannounced, much to the dismay of CS cheaters. And why reinvent the wheel? The newest FPS games like Castle Wolf and Global Ops may have better graphics, but CS stills reigns as king of the multiplayer FPS games? Try to find 20,000 servers running at any given time in any other game. Why? It's better gameplay. Period. At least now new players will be able to get used to the game before jumping into multiplayer games. The result? More players than we have now. Nothing new has come close to the original CS. Only a new, improved CS can do that.
Cs: Condition Zero and 1.6 are much better

New to the Half Life Series? Die-hard Counter-Strike fan? In any case, this game is an example of brilliant A.I.
Everyone knows that Counter-Strike is a game of tactics (sometimes), team work (this NEVER happens..), and amusement (this happens ALL the time). This game maintains the original Counter-Strike's obsessity. A BRILLIANT A.I is added in this game, and your team mates, actually cooperate with you. Although, only in single player do your team mates actually cooperate with you.
The classic maps are back with some new features, and the maps have a completly new look. Enhanced Graphics make this quite enjoyable.
This game is very fun, but as with all things, it gets old. After completing one level of difficulty in single player, there's not much else to do. If you go to a higher difficulty, its the same maps, same missions, but with more objectives (example: YOU must resque all hostages. Or: Kill 4 enemies with the BullPump and survive). If you are a die hard Half-Life Fan, get this, right now. It's worth it.
Happy Hunting

Counter-Strike is good, but I mean, come on... Team Fortress 2 was supposed to come out in 1998 (and no one even knows ANYTHING about it), Half-Life 2 was supposed to come out in May (than it was delayed till September, than Holiday 2003, now its April '04), and this is the 3rd time Condition Zero has been delayed, and its on its what... 3rd or 4th developer??
Obviously Valve doesnt know what they are doing, and I wouldnt expect this game to come out anytime soon... If you really want to play this game, buy XBox if you dont already have it, and buy Counter-Strike for it... It came out today (11/18/03), and it has all the stuff Condition Zero is supposed to have, if it even comes out anytime soon.
Plus, Steam is the worst thing ever, so I think Valve just scored a 0 out of 4 for everything theyve tried doing...
Also, I didnt mention it, but this game was supposed to come out in May, along with HL2, and it got delayed till "supposedly" today, 11/18, and now Amazon says 11/30, and EB Games says 12/14... I mean, if you people havent noticed it by now... This game isnt coming out anytime soon... And if they get it out before Christmas, Ill be incredible surprised...
Thats my 2 cents.
Tired fan

i have owned the first counter-strike for almost four years now, and i still play it almost every other day. condition-zero looks amazing, the single player mode sounds great and the online co-op mode will be even better. the only thing that is pissing me off is that this game was supposed to come out over a year ago, and it still isnt out. this could be a good thing(more work into it) or it could just be they are having alot of problems. whatever it is when it comes out(if it does) it should be a great buy, but for now buy Half Life: Counter-Strike, the best multiplayer game ever made

It is a sad day when a business (the game developer) lies to its distribution network and the public for the all holy bottom line, year end sales numbers. Also alienated by your greed are the thousands of individuals who anticipated an exceptional game for Christmas or a birthday gift. How about Amazon or Sierra paying interest on the use of our money from date of purchase to the delivery date. Do we really believe that the March date is good, or will it be December 30,2004 (or2005). If this was my company I would have people working overtime to meet a commitment to my customers. Remember, with out customers you do not have a sale. Come on Sierra and Amazon be honest and do the right thing.
