could have been a lot better

i was really disappointed with c&c's newest release. Although i am not one of those fanatical C&C fans, i do love first person shooters (fps). The AI is the most horrible i've ever seen in a fps, and i've played a lot of games. The characters look like boxes, Havoc's personality is a cardboard cutout, the script and story line is hilariously bad, and Havoc's lines are corny. Most of all, both the single player and multiplayer are desperately below par. The single player was much too short, the bosses are too easy to kill, and the scenery is atrocious. The multiplayer is just as bad, since the base defences are much too difficult to bypass and you can only carry one weapon at a time. Westwood truly disappointed me with this game, i thought they were capable of a more thought out and prepared game. If you are going to spend [$$$] on a game, spend in on Max Payne or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Unless you're a diehard C&C fan, this one probably isn't for you.

This game looks really good. I like the fact with the multiplay and including the vehicles sort of similar to Tribes 2 another game which was really great.

Great graphics and gameplay for online gamers

Command and Conquer is a series that has a HUGE following amongst strategy gamers. Command and Conquer: Renegade is their entry into the first person shooter arena. The familiar sides of GDI and NOD are present, and all of your favorite weapons and vehicles are available for enjoyment.

The graphics are *really* nice, and shine in quite a number of areas. Well worth making sure you have a GEforce 3 or 4 for. Another great feature is that you can enter vehicles and even share them with friends. One person can jump into the driver's seat and the other can leap into the back to man the guns. There are APCs for transporting small teams.

The loading and recoil graphics on the weapons feel very realistic. You've got your weapons that you know and love from the various command and conquer games, including the laser rifle, chain gun, grenade launcher, flame thrower, chemical sprayer and more. A sniper rifle lets you zoom in on the action.

Sure, single player can be a bit boring. But as in most of these first person shooters, the internet multiplay is where the game really shines. Single player is really just a training arena until you 'graduate' to on line play. You can play with a team of 10 or more friends from around the world, working together as a group to coordinate your attack against the enemies. Just as in command and conquer, you have a base and have to defend it while destroying your enemy's base. You can blow up your enemy's bases by blasting them from the outside, or blowing them up from the inside!

With the HUGE number of HalfLife players out there, this is a giant step up in terms of graphics. The vehicles also make a great addition. It compares nicely with Halo, although Halo can't support large team play and isn't "really" internet enabled right now. If you find a fun group of players to team up with, you can easily get lost in the game for weeks, if not months!

Why this game is below average...

I was appalled at the look of this game.
I have been playing for about 6 hours now, and I can't believe that this game was made in the last 2 years.
The graphics are lame, and the confusing layouts of the levels leave much to be desired.
The Enemy AI is weak, almost embarrassing at times.
I tried, but could not connect to an online multi-player game, but I can tell already that it will be nowhere as fun or pretty as Tribes 2 is.
Tribes 2, a game that was released about a year before this title, makes this game look like a bunch of brain damaged monkeys made it.
I LOVED the C&C games, and still play from time to time, even if Red Alert had some ramping issues.
I think that it is a shame that so many people will buy this game, and think that this is the best that current 3-d shooters have to offer.
Pass on this, and take a look at Medal of Honor Allied Assault for a great single player game, or Tribes 2 for on-line multi-player fun.
Westwood should be embarrassed that this title shipped looking the way it does.

CHEATER'S over run the multiplayer

The single player is great but the multiplayer is over run with CHEATER's, and westwood hasn't updated it but once and that wus a month after it came out so don't get your hopes up this wus a real disappointment for all you multiplayers out there who hate CHEATERS........................................

Renegade is Alright

"Renegade" is fine if you're a fan of Westwood's Command & Conquer RTS games. If not, then you'll probably have a hard time digging the concept of running around and inside the huge buildings you could only mess with from a distance and I think "Renegade" succeeds quite well here.

But "Renegade" gets its [butt] severely whomped when it trys to showup far superior FPS games such as Raven Software's "Soldier of Fortune" or "Elite Force". There are so many errors with the A.I., the most glaring is with the enemy who might stand two feet from you and not see you, not even as you rip it apart with your chaingun. And though Westwood has been able to pull off some interesting things with its engine, "Renegade" just doesn't have what it takes in the graphics department to really compete with the likes of id's "Quake III Team Arena" engine or even Epic's "Unreal Tournament" engine.

Still, "Renegade" has some really cool level design, kickbutt weapons, solid multiplay and a great soundtrack filled with screaming soldiers and booming explosions, really placing you in the combat boots of the good guy, Nick "Havok" Parker.

My thinking is if you like Command & Conquer and wish you could really be at ground zero, "Renegade" doesn't disappoint. But if you're looking for a killer FPS game, save your money for "Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix".

hmmm, like tribes 2

This game reminds me of tribes 2 but without the jet packs. This games also reminds me of outbreak. you get credits by mining teberian which is unique because you get to play a labor worker. Nothing new with the weapons but I do like the "Ion Canon" great mass destruction weapon. Graphics are alright, a little better than tribes 2. Could've came up with better environemnts for battle because it's so bland. I'm comparing this to Allied Forces right now. Nothing groundbreaking here, but a nice addition to the Command and Conquer series.

Well... how do I sum this up?? I could give it a one-word review.. ... or I could go into a little more detail.
I went to my local games shop one day with my hard earned ...and had a scan of the shelves, and BANG.. It hit me!! The colourfull front cover with an intruding burly bloke looking at me. The only way I can Justify myself buying this heap of elephant poo, is that I was disorientated by the over colorful cover, or by the shiny cling film that it was wrapped in.
Well i ask myself now, why did i have to open that cling film?
This game ... in every aspect.
Gameplay: What? there is gameplay? well you could have fooled me. 0/10
Graphics: Ehh.. well this would be more impressive if it was run off the original "castle wolfenstein 3D " engine 0/10
weapons: dont get me started on the weapons. 0/10
vehicals: the only game in the world that lets you drive in port-a-loo's.
Well, Im going to stop now before i blow a blood vessel in my head... Over all rating? -1/10
(the one star if the lowest i can give it, although i think that there should be more of a selection for this game.. like 0 stars.

Best game ever..

HehE i Dont have an amazon account...Well anyways back to the game. The Game C&C Renegade in my words is a good game. There are two teams you can be on which are GDI and NOD. NOD is red and GDI is yellow. Some of the maps that you start out with are Islands,Walls,Walls (Flying),Under,Volcano, the city one,and Hourglass. You can also download other maps from the internet that other people make that why if you see a gray map in the game it means you dont have it. When i say Flying it means your allowed to purchase helicopters and in the others your not allowed.
