A must-have game for Playstation One owners

I have been playing this game for months now. It's the kind of game that you can pick up at anytime and have fun. I got this game because it requires you to move to the music and thus get some exercise while I'm at it. This is definitely a must-have for Playstation One owners. It is also a great family game, one that can be enjoyed by all ages. I don't know what this complaint is all about as far as the music. I think they miss the whole point of the game. For music, I would give it four out of five. But for gameplay, I give it five out of five!

It's probably just me, but this video game doesn't fit my taste like the old-school games do. The 'excitement' found here is nothing compared to a wedding reception or a high-school prom (depending on what moves you make). Plus, only segments of the songs are included. This could be better if the whole song was played. At least that's my opinion.

I found it watching others participate, but I've been forced to give it a try to one of the 'slower' songs. Not many moves. Not too much fun.

This game seems okay if you want a good workout. I'm not bashing this game. In contrast, it might grow on me over time. Right now, I ... I may be too old-fashioned. :)

First off, let me get the one bad point out of the way. I don't like the music. It's okay and I didn't expect better from a dance game but it just isn't to my taste.

Okay, now all the good. If played diligently, this game will work on your rhythm, reflexes, stamina and timing. I even found it easy to push myself into playing 3 times longer after I started getting tired and actually felt like I was dancing after just a few hours. A few of the levels are easy enough for a beginner but I would recomend taking real dance lessons if you can get through the harder ones.

And finally the technical. This game has a wide range of options on how you can play with it's game, workout, lesson, and trining modes. Each with verying difficulties. Combine this with it's 25+ songs and you should never get board playing it.

It's an all around great game so get your hand out of that bag of crisps and dance!

I love this game to death!

This is one of the best games I've ever played. My brother got it for Christmas and I've already beat all 32 levels. (Only on easy, though.) Its really fun (and quite addictive!). If you're tryingto lose weight, theres a "workout mode" that tracks how many calories you burn. Its an awesome game!

Boring... and no good songs.

Yes, it's actually worse than arcade mix 3... they really didn't include any of the good songs. Luckily there are other games like Konamix and DDRMAX out already so you don't have to bother with this one. Features the horrible original revolving discs interface.

The Dance Craze Hits America Full Force

Welcome to the world of Dance Dance Revolution. After years of searching arcades for this game, gamers were finally given the chance to play at home in April of 2001. Ever since then, gamers have been dancing to the music.

Unlike many video games, which often promote laziness, this game does quite the opposite. Playing DDR, the gamer is brought into a world of music beats (most often electronic) and arrows. Dancing to the arrows, the gamer is rated on his/her performance.

The sheer joy of this game is that it gives you the ability to get physical exercise while not even realizing it. Dancing to the music does not feel as arduous as running or other hard physical exercising. However, in reality, you end up burning as many (or more) calories than you would running, biking, or swimming.

The selection of music for this first release of DDR makes it perfect for an intermediate level dancer. While one can easily learn how to play from this game, it would probably be easier to purchase the second game released in America, Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix. Proceed to this game, following up with DDR Konamix.

All in all, I recommend this game for gamers of all ages. It is a breath of fresh air in the game industry and is an excellent workout at the same time.

well first off i have to say i started with this. This game is awsome. But first i'd like to say that there are sequals, the newest is ddr max. Rumor has it that there making one called Dance Dance Revolution XBOX. I for one have to save up my allowance. This game is so good and addictive. The music is good too. It's pretty much a mix of everything and all the songs are songs that i am 99.9% sure you've never heard of before. Here's my final say

PROS:
Simple a child can do it easily
no memorizing buttons like on Tony Hawk games
LESSONS
all songs are appropiate [no cuss words or anything]
almost everyone will like it [even non gamers]

CONS:
sequals have been made
addictive
dance mats are not included

Best game EVER!!!

When I first got DDR, I was pretty bad. The next day, I totally got the hang of it and was playing the intermediate songs in no time!I got DDR right before my birthday, so we played it at my party. Everyone got the hang of it real fast and we had a blast. When my friends left, they told their parents about it. They loved it so much,2 out of the three people at my party got DDR. Now it is always involved in what we do at eachother's houses. We love DDR so much. The songs are great, from "Have You Never Been Mellow" to "Paranoia; Clean Mix." All of the songs have a great beat, and have difficulty levels for all dancers. I would absolutely reccomend this game to anyone who wants to have a blast!

An absolute Blast... except

Dance Dance Revolution is so great. I loved it from the moment of playing it at DisneyQuest and I was happy to see some of my favorite songs when I picked up my copy of DDR USA. I bought the pads along with the game and have been playing it for a good while. It has more than served its purpose when I had a Youth Group party and everyone was going nuts playing this game. It was one of the best nights of my life. I appreciate great songs like "Boom Boom Dollar" (my favorite song)and other classics found in the arcade. There are some good features to DDR USA including the Beginners Mode for inexperienced players, and also Diet Mode and Edit Mode for those seeking excersise and creativity. The presentation is very good; menus are easy, graphics are flashy and stylish with good backgrounds. Then why am I giving this only 3 stars? Because it's missing the song "Butterfly" by smile.dk, one of the songs that got me hooked to DDR. It's also missing a few other good songs like "Stomp to my Beat," "Wonderland," and "Dam Dariram." I REALLY REALLY wish Konami had put in Butterfly. DDR USA just isn't complete without it. The exclusion of Butterfly is enough to bring DDR USA down a whole star, and the others missing songs bring it down another star. A rerelease of this game with the aforementioned songs included is highly unlikely, but I sure would be willing to pay the extra [dollars]. The convenience of having all the best songs on one disc is unrivaled.
