Dance Dance Revolution is one of the coolest games in years! In the tradition of PSX hits like Parappa the Rappa, you push buttons in time to music to keep your "Groove Meter" up... Only here, you get yourself some pads to put on the floor, which plug into the normal PSX controller port, and jump around to hit the right combinations. The dance sensation that's sweeping the nation!
A MUST-BUY

If you like this game in the arcades, you'll have to buy the mat for the game too. ....If its to hard, but still fun, you'll have a BLAST at your own home because it's the same thing only no pressure. .... If you practice at home and get good, you'll have even more fun at the arcades, showin' off your moves. This is a must-buy to most people. Trust me.
Not stupid, Fun!

Alright, I have to admit this is really fun! When I first saw people playing it in the arcade, I thought they were stupid people trying to be cool, but I was dead wrong, I played this at my friend's house, as soon as you play 1 or 2 songs, you just cant stop! Its so fun! Trust me, if it looks stupid to you, just play it once, you'll get hooked! Its a lot better with the dance pad too!

Finally is one word that can be used about DDR in the states, but they did a poor job implimenting it. If you have a US Playstation that isn't modded, BUY THIS GAME! Without a doubt it's better to have it than not at all, but if you have a Modded Playstation, or have a Japanese playstation as well, save your cash. It's effectively a dumbed down version of Japan's best Hits. Including about half of the songs. Konami of America is wondering why reaction has been so poor, it's poor implimentation plain and simple. The game is fun, and still enjoyable if you have no other option, it's just 3rd mix or higher in japan are all so much better. C'mon Konami, give US fans credit, and release a real version!
If only the dance pads worked!

Quibble all you want about it not having the all same songs as the arcade version. At the heart of it, this is one of the most fun and unique games ever made -- and a great workout, too! Konami did a terrific job of coming up with different modes and difficulty levels, which will keep this game fun to play for a long, long time after you get it.
The only problem is that the dance pad I bought broke almost immediately. They're flimsy pieces of junk in my opinion, and I doubt they'll ever be able to make something as durable and reliable as the arcade dance floor, so the game will never be as much fun at home as it is in the arcade. But I'm reviewing the game here, not the auxiliary equipment. And this game is flawless.
Stay cool! This game rules!

This game is awesome! The only downside to it is that there are not many songs.

This game is awesome. The only complaint I have (many others do too) is of the mediocre song selection. Besides that, this version's fine. BUY IT!!!
An absolute Blast... except

Dance Dance Revolution is so great. I loved it from the moment of playing it at DisneyQuest and I was happy to see some of my favorite songs when I picked up my copy of DDR USA. I bought the pads along with the game and have been playing it for a good while. It has more than served its purpose when I had a Youth Group party and everyone was going nuts playing this game. It was one of the best nights of my life. I appreciate great songs like "Boom Boom Dollar" (my favorite song)and other classics found in the arcade. There are some good features to DDR USA including the Beginners Mode for inexperienced players, and also Diet Mode and Edit Mode for those seeking excersise and creativity. The presentation is very good; menus are easy, graphics are flashy and stylish with good backgrounds. Then why am I giving this only 3 stars? Because it's missing the song "Butterfly" by smile.dk, one of the songs that got me hooked to DDR. It's also missing a few other good songs like "Stomp to my Beat," "Wonderland," and "Dam Dariram." I REALLY REALLY wish Konami had put in Butterfly. DDR USA just isn't complete without it. The exclusion of Butterfly is enough to bring DDR USA down a whole star, and the others missing songs bring it down another star. A rerelease of this game with the aforementioned songs included is highly unlikely, but I sure would be willing to pay the extra [dollars]. The convenience of having all the best songs on one disc is unrivaled.
If you like to dance you won't be dissapointed!!

Dance Dance Revolution is a great game and a lot of fun to play. It has a variety of music styles ranging from softer tunes, to Latin, to techno. It requires some physical effort to play and can be difficult at first, but it is a lot of fun. The only problem is that there aren't a whole lot of songs so there are only a few from different styles, but on a whole it is a great game.
