I first played this game at an arcade in Tokyo while I was stumbling drunk after yet another insipid business meeting. A bunch of locals (I could tell) were standing around staring at this game with its pulsing lights and hip beats. I hadn't spent all my yen on the sauce so I thought I'd drop a few in and give this game a go--Hoppy looooves to groove. Immediately I was into it. The music was blaring and my feet were moving and the locals were staring, applauding, and taking pictures. What a night (at least what I can remember of it). The arcade Dance Dance Revolution really kept me on my feet (for the most part).
And this PS2 version is not much different. The object is to press to appropriate button(s) on the dance pad (there are four large buttons) with your dancin' feet while the screen provides arrows telling you what button (dance step!) you should be tap tap tapping. Music and rythym...those inate human traits are the essential ingredients that make this game so much fun. Even lousy dancers like my current wife seem to enjoy it and you will too!!!

I have owned this game for about a year and a half. It has some wonderful songs, but after a while they get old. It was my gateway into DDR at home (Living in Ohio makes it hard to DDR anywhere else). Playing it reminds me of the times I watched people at the arcades in Cali. bust a groove to it in a way I never expected people to move at an arcade. But this game has something to be desired. It has some good songs, but Konamix is probably a better buy.

I first saw Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) in a video arcade, and thought that it looked fun but overpriced, as are most coin-op games these days. A couple of years later, my boyfriend's roommate lends me his copy and a mat, and all of a sudden I'm spending all my spare time excersizing! Most of my friends are amazed (I'm generally about as couch potatoish as one gets), but the game itself is well thought out and addicting; and with the added benefit of good excersize, how can it go wrong? I just hope my grades don't suffer!
Best game ever, even if you don't like video games!

I don't have any video games of my own, but two of my best friends do and they both have DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). Every time I'm over at their houses, we play it and it is the best game. It's so much fun because it's like you're really dancing, even though they give you the steps. It's also good exercise because you're jumping around with the steps. It's not one of those games where you sit there and press buttons, pretending to have fun. They even tell you how many calories you've burned at the end of the song. There are like 20 songs to choose from and they're all a good variety. There are some old songs, some new ones, some fast, some slow. When you're finished with the song, they grade your dancing, and how well you followed the steps. It's a lot of fun especially when you're doing it with another person. Again, I don't have any video games, because I'm just not really into that kind of thing, but I love playing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) when I'm with my friends.

well first off i have to say i started with this. This game is awsome. But first i'd like to say that there are sequals, the newest is ddr max. Rumor has it that there making one called Dance Dance Revolution XBOX. I for one have to save up my allowance. This game is so good and addictive. The music is good too. It's pretty much a mix of everything and all the songs are songs that i am 99.9% sure you've never heard of before. Here's my final say
PROS:
Simple a child can do it easily
no memorizing buttons like on Tony Hawk games
LESSONS
all songs are appropiate [no cuss words or anything]
almost everyone will like it [even non gamers]
CONS:
sequals have been made
addictive
dance mats are not included
too cool

As a seasoned DDR player, who has achieved a reputation as a pro(catastrophics :P), I would like to say that this version is the worst. The songs are completely different from the USA arcade game, and some of them are from second mix (Japan) and are extremely slow. The only good thing about this game is that it brought official Konami pads to the US. So save up the extra 20 bucks and go to express.com. (3rd mix is the best of PSX but I've heard that Extra Mix is better, just released 2 weeks ago. Don't forget to research converters first:\)

Dance Dance Revolution is an absolute, no doubt about it dancing phenomenon! I mean finally they made an affordable, fun, and easy-to-set-up game made especially for teens and pre-teens! Now I don't even have to take that dance class I was going to take, and I don't even need to know how to dance! It will give me-easy-to-follow dance routines and will work with me throughout the lessons and I can also go to dance competitions. I can pick my own levels, make up my own dance routines, pick my own characters, and do much, much more than that. It even scores me on how well I'm doing so I can see if I need to improve on anything. Dance Dance Revolution was the best thing I'd ever bought in my life! And if I'm feeling a bit flabby, I just turn on my Dance Dance Revolution and get an excellent workout! And to think, all that is just right in my own room! I love it!I think everyone that enjoys any kind of dancing should own Dance Dance Revolution. It's a really fun game!
