Surprise them with a Math Lesson!

Roller Coaster Tycoon is a piece of software that every middle/high school regular math teacher should have in their classroom. Why? What a better way to teach area and perimeter than to have your students design a roller-coaster theme park. Give them a plot of land, money, an idea, and time to develop their dreams. Do it on paper...then do it on the computer. Concrete to abstract. What a great way to teach real-world connections to your math lessons. Don't get me wrong, this is not a "Lesson in a can". You might have to do some really serious lesson planning to pull this thing off correctly, but if you can do it, this is really empowering to your students.If you have an unmotivated student, this can turn them around. If you have a "Poo-poo'er" on math and real world connections, this can show them how they go together. You can use this as a simple, fit the budget lesson, an area/perimeter lesson, a long term planning lesson, X-Y coordinate graphing, pre-algebra, algebra, physics, etc. Use your imagination to make learning connect to this project. I'm talking grants here....this could be a grant in the making!

If you like strategy games but are tired of the Star Wars and the Final Fantasies, Roller Coaster Tycoon is the game for you. You get to create your very own theme park and collect money from people who will ride everything, buy anything, and just have a good time! This is one of the best PC games I've ever played, especially being a game that is ONLY made for the computer. This game gets 5 stars, easily!

I am hopelessly addicted to this game. It is very creative not only from the coputer programers point. It is the same for the person that wants to creat a theme park. I also have the expantion pack call corkscrew follies this make the game that much more fun. There are one or two small problems.

I was initially skeptical about this game, but I love it! It took a little while to really get the hang of it, but once you do it's great. There are many different scenerios and challenges as well as the opportunity to design whatever your heart desires. I have the original.

It is well worth the money and will offer hours of entertainment.

I admit it only took five seconds for this thing to load on my roller coaster tycoon's fun factor.WARNING! What I really find is that the addiction factor on this game is five times as powerful than pokemon's. This is another genius idea from Sawyer and Hasbro.

I thought Roller Coaster Tycoon was great. You can build the coolest roller coasters and other types of rides. You can build neat shops such as an Exotic Seafood Stall that sells tentacles. If you like theme parks you will like this game.

This game is great! I just got it a couple of days ago, on Christmas, and I'd say I've already played it for 12 hours. It is so addicting!

You build your own amusement park, and charge prices for admission. You hire a staff consisting of Handymen, Mechanics, Security Guards, and Entertainers. You try to make your amusemnt park as successful as possible to reach your objective.

I recommend this game to ANYONE. I loved it, along with my brother and sister. My friend loves it, too, and she rarely uses the computer! This is the perfect game that anyone would enjoy.

I will try to make this short and sweet. Roller Coaster Tycoon is one of the funnest sim build 'em up games out there. In the tradition of Sim City, RTC follows the same concept except to build your very own theme park with everyone's favorite ride...the rollercoaster!!! Along with other types of carnival rides and many different scenarios to play, RTC is guaranteed to offer many hours of strong entertainment as well as a ton of fun!! If you do decide to purchase RTC, I strongly recommend to pick up the Loopy Landscapes/Corkscrew Follies combo expansion pack. This expansion adds about 20 new scenarios and many new exciting coasters which really do make an excellent and exciting theme park. I highly recommend that anyone in which this concept of building a theme park intrigues, to at least pick up the original game. I guarantee that it won't take long before you decide to get the expansion packs.
