I bought this game years ago and never finished it until returning recently to it. It's a lot of fun, especially if you love roller coasters and amusement parks. Given various parks of different sizes and obstacles, you are assigned various missions, mostly with the same main objectives. Build a park which has x number of guests, and make sure the guests like it. You can design your own roller coasters, although they have a few samplers to get you started. The game designers have thought of amazing details, including handymen, restrooms, food, nausea, repairs, scenery, and advertising. A great clean game that's really fun to play. Also try the expansion packs.
Awsome, Wonderful, and Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

A must have. This game is down right addicting. You cannot stop playing. On this game, you can name the people who enter your park, but not the workers. On future RCT games, you could name the workers who work in the park. It's a fun game, and sometimes challenging. I recommend this to people who love strategy games.
Better than beer! Haha!

It's better than any other addictive substance or food... well, maybe not chocolate :)
Seriously, this game is so FUN! I do wish you could get money for the trees instead of paying to have them taken away. But that's a minor concession.
Zoo Tycoon is a totally awesome game, too!

I love the feel of realism in the game. You can make wackyrides, not just roller coasters, including Haunted Houses,Go Karts,etc... Plus you can even kill people by making roller coasters that are half finished, or simply put them in the water and dround them. This is, by far, the best PC game I've ever played. END
Extremely Addictive

My brother brought this game from Colorado to Oregon to play on his vacation at our house. I bought the game the next day.
A friend came over to visit and played the game for an afternoon - she bought the game before she went home that evening.
One of the best sim games out there!
Except for the flushing. All the bathroom flushing can drive you mad.
Great Game!

The is a great game, for a newbie or a expert. The game is to keep all finances to build attractions, to keep your customers entertained. To many people it would seem that making a good roller coaster would be very hard to do, but its not!, there is a tutorial mode that teaches you how to make a basic roller coaster by step-by-step. There are 14 roller coaster styles to choose from, and more diffrent attractions. A roller coaster can not be too intense for your guests though. On this game you can tell that money goes a long way, in roller coaster design!
By Far One of the Best

I love strategy games that really get you thinking. Roller Coaster Tycoon garners many accolades in that it allows you to wear a variety of hats: city planner (as you lay out your park), architect (as you design your rides), landscape architect (as you grade the terrain and select the perfect varieties of trees and shrubs), park manager (as you raise and lower the price of popcorn), and so much more. In addition, Roller Coaster Tycoon wraps all of this in a layer of camp--imagine finishing the design of a new coaster, opening it up, children file in, then turn green and vomit on their way out...oops! too intense! The sounds in the game are hilarious. It even allows you to select individual children and assign them names affording you the ability to track their moves. Click on any child and you can see what he or she is carrying, how much money they've spent and what their needs are. Do you have enough bathrooms? Enough restaraunts? Benches? This game is fun! Well worth the low price.
Really addictive!

I downloaded the demo for this game, loved it, and bought the real thing the next day. Now, months later, I still play this game every day when I get a spare second! I love all the different roller coasters and how you get to design your own rides. I rated it 4 stars only because I really hate how you can't minimize the screen. I also dislike the fact that people barf on the pathways, despite the many trash cans and bathrooms they could do it in instead. However, altogether it's a brilliant game and appropriate for anyone old enough to control the mouse! I highly recommend it to everyone.
Maybe the best SIM ever

I bought Roller Coaster Tycoon allegedly for my step-son, thinking that he might enjoy it. The graphics on the box looked fine, but not like I was used to from other sims. Then I got a chance to play RCT and realized that it was perhaps the perfect game. Very flexible, deep, and of course addictive! Create your own theme park and cram it full of the rides that will make you money. You can even design your own roller coaster track. Considering the fact that this game was primarily the work of one guy, Chris Sawyer, and that the physics, graphics, and interface are all above excellent, it's practically a miracle. The gameplay is organized into small tasks, and the availability of future scenarios depends upon your successful completion of the earlier scenarios. They're very manageable for sitting down and playing a scenario for a few hours to completion, unlike many other sims, whose scenarios can last days.
