Good fun for kids and adults (one on one and together)

Our family loves Diddy Kong racing! We come back to it over and over 'cause the adults love it as much as the kids. We race each other and it is loads of fun. The graphics are neat and you can pick from a variety of racers (Pipsy is almost like a family member now!) Each racer has a particular skill(s) and/or a few weaknesses and it's fun to see who picks which racer. There are two ways to play..you can just do races or you can do the adventure (also a race). Recommend it for those nights when you want to relax with the kids and have a laugh out loud blast.

Great one player action

My first thought with this game was that it would be a clonefrom 'Mario Cart' but after couple of weeks of playing it I realizedit was much more. I found challenging game with detailed race tracks in a beautiful 3D environment, with smooth racing gameplay that is second only to 'Mario Cart'. With excellent frame rates it doesn't look dodge like other N64 racing games. The only bad thing is if you are looking for two player action look else where because it doesn't offer much. Other than that it is a great game...a great buy.

Like most others who might've already discovered, this Nintendo video game IS pretty much for kids. That doesn't mean that many adults cannot find SOME fun with it.The player(s)have a chance to race on many tracks, like a dinosaur valley,an ice track,a volcano island, etc.Have to admit the graphics are good.At least I thought so.Can also switch over to this game to kill, say maybe thirty minutes.

Cross-Genre Racing Adventure? Oh yeah.

DKR (Diddy Kong Racing) is the only game I am aware of that is an adventure as well as a great racing game. The line drawn between racing and an adventure plot is just where it should be. When you first see the cutesy characters and tracks, you'll think it's easy. IT'S NOT. Sure, Adventure 1 may only take you 'bout a month (if you play constantly), but when you get to Adventure 2, it's a lot tougher. Then try Tracks Mode with the code "TIMETOLOSE". Then get T.T.. How about the Multiplayer games? And what about doing all this with Krunch? You'll see what I mean. Plus, in Adventure, you get to explore the outerworld, where you can access the races. Throw in DKR's plot and the Gold & Silver Balloons? There's gameplay. Maybe the toughest part is the Silver Coin Challenge in Adventure 2. If you thought the game was going easy on you, do this with Krunch, then use him to get T.T.. But when you get T.T., DON'T use him in Adventure. If you do all that, then I think you should have your hands full for AT LEAST four months (more if you play Multiplayer).

A great racing/adventure game

"Diddy Kong Racing" is the only game of its kind. Unlike a lot of people might think, it's far from being a "Mario Kart 64" clone. It has all the great racing that you'll find in other racing games, but adds an adventure feel to it. Your goal is to get all the balloons and amulets in the game. You get balloons by winning races, but that's only the beginning. Once you win all the races in one of the worlds, you have to go race a huge boss. Once you outrace the boss, you then have to do the Silver Coin Challenge (find the silver coins in all the races and win the race). Then you must race the boss over again, but this time it will be twice as hard. Finally, after you do that, you've beaten that world, but you must get the gold in the Trophy Race.

There are a few worlds in "Diddy Kong Racing," and they're all huge. You will race in three different vehicles, a go cart, hovercraft, and an airplane. You also have weapons that you can use during all the races. There are different colored balloons, which will give you weapons such as missiles, oil slicks, magnets, and shields. In all of them, you can get powerups by getting more than one of the same colored balloon, in a row. For example, get a red balloon and you'll get a missile, but if you get another red balloon before you shoot that missile, you will get a powerup in the form of a homing missile that will chase your opponents down.

"Diddy Kong Racing" also has great replay value. There are two battle stages and two other cool bonus stages that you can find and play anytime, up to four players. As you find the racing and bonus stages, they will become available where you can play them anytime in multiplayer. There is also a Time Trial mode and there are two hidden characters that you can find. Pretty much, this game is overloaded in replay value and you'll never get tired of playing the multiplayer games. It's also fun to beat the game over and over. "Diddy Kong Racing" is not only a great racing game, it's a fun adventure. I recommend "Diddy Kong Racing" to anyone who has a Nintendo 64.

cutesy, but a lot of fun

I am a HUGE fan of the MarioKart games and this one surpasses MarioKart 64 bigtime. Sure, it might be cutesy and some of the character's voices will get on your nerves, but the fun factor and replay value is out of this world! It is a lot better than MarioKart 64 in almost every way. The graphics are superb, the one player game is AWESOME and even after you beat the game, it's fun to go through it again. There are also 2 extra hidden characters to get to keep you racing. And most of all, the battle mode is different, but it is also great. In 2 of them, you compete against the computers or your friends to get so many eggs or bananas back to your base before they do. And best of all, in the other 2 it's just good old fashioned BATTLE! The 2 battle areas are a water level and an ice level, and they are fun.

If you ask me, I'd recommend getting Diddy Kong Racing before you get Mariokart 64 because it has more replay value than Mariokart ever thought of having.

I give this only 4 stars because I think there are some things missing like secret levels and I like certain characters to have special abilities to help them through the obstacles. But I really loved this game even my Dad loves it and he's really old.

This game is wicked cool! It has awesome graphics and cool players. The levels are neat too.It has bright colors and a neat setting. My favorite area is the snow area. I like it because the levels are all Christmasy and have cool tracks. I like the plane the best because you get a better veiw of everything . I like the turtle the best because he's fast. This is what I think of Diddy Kong Raciging.

All I can say about this game is that is much much much better than Mario Kart. Not only it is difficult, but fun to play with. You can't believe how boring is Mario Kart. It is nothing, I didn't know what am I playing for. Diddy Kong Racing is the best racing game I ever bought. I love the phrase:"go for it!"
