This is a great game! Its not very fun by yourself but it's super fun with all your friends. It's graphics are good and the sound is good although it repeats and some of the characters voices get annoying (this is why i gave it a 4) Overall this game is fun for the whole family and will provide hours of fun. Buy it now! This is a good game to have in your collection and is way funner than Mario Kart 64.

If you have young kids you can't go wrong to buy this game. We've had it almost a year and my kids still play it several times a week. Colorful racing theme, lots of characters to choose from, lots of racing venues, upbeat music. Five stars!
Fun!

This game is fun but it can be hard to beat at times. But the huge pig you have to race is like nothing I've ever seen! He's huge and you get a tingly feeling in the pit of your tummy when you race him. I absolutley LOVE him! Please rent this game if you can.
Thanks

Although many people find N64 games outdated, cumbersome, and dare I say it, not fun anymore. Diddy Kong Racing does not fit in any of these categories. The game resembles Mario Kart where you are given a variety of racers and tracks to choose from. And unlike Mario Kart, you can race in a car, plane or even a hovercraft!
But not only that, a wonderful "Adventure" mode is included. Your job is to defeat the infamous Wizpig who has taken over Timber's Island. How do you accomplish such a feat? Beat all the tracks and then beat Wizpig (you have to face him more than once). You go through the different "worlds" on the island. After you beat all the tracks in a world, you face the boss. Once you beat the boss, you must beat all the races again, but grabbing all the silver coins in a level and win the race! The silver coins are put in odd places that force you to go out of your way to retrieve them. Then you face the boss again and must beat him again (but he's harder this time).
The graphics and gameplay are quite good. The graphics are like any other N64 game. The gameplay has a few flaws though, especially the handling on the controller. If you're used to playing games on newer systems, the handling seems quite cumbersome. It will take a while to get used to turning in this game. When using the plane and hovercraft, driving can be very frustrating. Don't look at this as a downside of the game, when you're playing, it feels like more of a challenge. Making this game even better, there is a code "Jointventure" that allows you to do the adventure mode with 2 people!
Overall, this game is one of the best I've ever played. It may lack in smoothness, but makes up for it with awesome amounts of fun! If you're the type of player who wants the latest systems and games with amazing graphics and whatnot, do not waste your time with this one. But if you see yourself as a person who enjoys playing any fun video game regardless of its caliber, this is the right one for you!
A even title that can hold it's own.

Diddy Kong has a better graphics system then Mario Kart and gameplay is faster and less sluggish. Alltogether a good game to own and worth the money if under fifteen bucks.

This game is lots of fun after you beat the entire game you get space boards. There are also some fun codes to have lots of fun on Multi player. If you want the code it's freeforall. This game really does stand the test of time. It is like a rookie form of Mariocart, but I think that it's a better game than Mariocart.

Being released after Mario Kart, this game will of course, always be compared with Mario Kart. While this game is fairly similar to Mario Kart one shouldn't think of this as simply a clone-this game is actually very good.
The graphics, sounds, and music are all very good (especially for the time it was released). There are 3 different vehicles you can race and battle with and several different maps to choose from. The maps are all very well designed and are very fun.
There are different weapons you can get, like in Mario Kart, to help you win the race. Unlike Mario Kart in which you get random weapons, in this game you know what you are getting by the color of the balloon (weapons and power ups are in balloons, not boxes). One interesting thing I like about this game is that you can save up your weapon/powerup and make it more powerful by getting another balloon (up to a maximum of 3 balloons). There is also another interesting aspect: if you pick up the bananas lying around the track then your kart will go faster. There are also some conveyer belts, aka "zippers" spread along the tracks that you can pass over to go even faster for a short period of time.
One obnoxious part of the game is that you have to collect coins in order to win the races (in single player mode). The coins are scattered in hard to get places along the track. If you think you were great when you got all the coins, just wait, for there is the dreaded mirror mode in which you have to do it all over again, except this time it's backwards. This aspect of the game will drive any sane mortal mad.
There is also the cheapness of the boss levels in which you will be forced to play if you want to beat the single player mode and unlock maps for multiplayer mode. The bosses are all incredibly cheap, but you can beat them. It just takes time and patience.
Over all this game is pretty good, especially the multiplayer aspect. It is definitely worth getting.

I've spent years playing this game as a child, and there is tons of races and a variety of bright optomistic characters. The best part of this title is multiplayer. Multiplayer has 3 diffrent games: Battle (you shoot eachother) Race, and capture the flag. There are 3 vehicles you can use in this game too. Plane, kart, and hover craft. If your playing solo there is also an adventure mode where you go through a nice adventure.

This is a great game. Then again, I love kart racing games. This is one of the classic kart racing games for me, its only competitor being Mario Kart 64.
In terms of single-player, I think it trumps Mario Kart. And DKR's ingeniousness comes through the planes and hover karts, my favorite still being the "car" though. However, if you look in terms of graphics and characters, Mario Kart takes the cake.
Diddy Kong Racing is great fun though. The characters are all unique. Their controls vary and they have special talents, such as speed, handling, or even being good at hovering or flying. The levels are also great fun, all of them having themes, like Christmas or pirates. The multi-player as well, as mentioned in another review, runs quite seamlessly, and I find that it is a great hit when you have poeple over.
I personally love kart racing games. I would recommend both this game and Mario Kart 64.
