when i first got this game i thought it was going to be one of those stupid sci fi games.I WAS WRONG!it was the most fun in a game i had ever had.

Half-Life for Counter-Strike

What I am looking for a counter-strike full product, and not only half life.As far as i know counter strike is an add-on for half life, will i need half life to run counter strike or will it be run as an astand alone cd? im my office we played counter strike and it has much greater disk space more than a gb so will i need to combine half life game of the year edition, or just a counter strike. Can anyone help me at mhsnali@gmx.net, thnx!

It's great - if you can get it to run.

Does this game require a 3dfx card or something? It won't run on my new 800 MHz computer which has a TNT2 card (agp). :(

A First-Person Shooter I Actually Like...

I'm not a fan of first-person shooters - I get bored with just killing targets too quickly, and the rapid movements necessary invariably make me nauseous. Half-Life is different: It makes me think, it has a mystery-laden storyline and it looks marvellous. The visuals, sounds and effects are bloody perfect. Not only that, the opponents are very crafty - I was surprised to see one beast actually duck behind cover when I shot at it!

Overall Fabulous but...

First of all, let me say that I truly loved Half-Life. It was the very first game that my husband and I bought for our first computer and it was wonderful! The graphics were truly amazing, the storyline was great, and the progression was very good also. It was well worth the 40 dollars I paid for it.

However, there were a few problems. Because the game is so layered, multidimensional and realistic, I felt it was necessary to have the guide book to walk me through it. For me, the game was impossible to play with out it. The other thing I didn't like was the ending of the story. I won't spoil it for any one but I will say that I felt the creators just sort of gave up at the end. The last few levels and especially the way it ends are very abrupt. I thought it would be a lot better than it was. So--in some ways it was a let down.

But--overall this is a truly great game. It was definitly worth the money and the time! I would definitly recommend it!

This game is one of the best I have Ever played, and to say the least, I have played a lot of them. Great graphics great everything. My parents were skeptical about the mature rating, but if you are old enough, you can handle it. If you want to play the game to its full extent, then have a fast computer, because you wouldnt want to miss out on this great game!

Half-life is Great so check out all the MODS. THEY HUNGER

Half-life without a doubt is one of the best first-person shooters out there. If you have played through single player missions and want more single player action there are many mods avaliable for download. I have recently played a mod called "They Hunger 1 and 2. This is a scary game where you have to escape from the town that became infested with zombies created by evil scientist. In addition to interesting new environment you will see many new cool weapons. This mod was created by professional map maker Neil Manke and was sponsored by PC Gamer Magazine. Needless to say that "They Hunger" is awesome. I encorage everyone who owns Half-life to download "They Hunger." But as I said, to play "They Hunger" you must obviously have Half-life. So my advice is-get Half-life and get "They Hunger" (You can download it from http://halflife.pcgame.com).

So good, it's orgasmic...

Wow wasn't enough. Half-Life caught me with it's story line in the first 2 seconds of seeing the 3D environment that Valve created. HL had such a gripping story line that even I was impressed. (That's hard to do) HL started off slow and then got into full gear in a heartbeat. HL also has an auto-save feature so that your progress is saved without you having to stop the sensless killing and the fun. Well all I have to say now is that Half-Life is so fun, I still have an Orgasm going!

All those great reviews must have been done while the players were smoking something. This game has lousy controls and is frustrating to play. This game also suffers from cheap setups that you as a player cannot avoid until it is too late. Things like falling office equipment, the floor falling out from under you, all kill your player no matter how good you are. Only after you KNOW about the traps can you avoid them. So you must die at least once at each trap before you can go on. Cheap. As far as Half Life 2 is concerned? NO THANKS if its more of the same!

I have no idea what the hype is all about. this game is no better than any other FPS. It is the same as the rest. shoot,collect ammo, run through vent shafts and underground tunnels. I am bummed that i fell for the hype. the game is not horrible, BUT THIS GAME IS NOTHING SPECIAL....
