AC2 has only gotten better!

I've been a part of the BETA and have played for 4 months now. Compared to AC1 it is a major step forward in almost every aspect of AC1. There are still some areas I hope to see changed, but overall the game play, graphics, world, vault campaigns, dungeons, Kingdoms, combat, character advancement, and social interaction are just awesome! Look forward to seeing you there...

Nice graphics.... BUT.....

I played this on a friends desktop and despite the load they were putting on it in beta, it seemed to handle well. One thing they don't tell you about on the pre-order page, however, is that it currently only works with GEForce series cards. I would be pretty upset if I pre-ordered this game and found that out the hard way.

Worst of the Worst

This is without doubt the worst MMPORPG ever created. It's not buggy. It's not ugly. It's not run poorly. It's just plain and simple boring. A horrible horrible design with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

This is a total mess. There's a free trial floating around on the net somewhere. Download it and try it for yourself.

It stinks.

I am really enjoying beta-testing this product. AC2 is shaping up to be a very nice mix of previous MMORPG offerings (EQ, DAoC, AO) and some of the best single player RPG/Action RPGs to date (Diablo II/Neverwinter Nights). The game environment and skill structures strike me as having endless opportunity for improvement and enhancement. I would very much like to see Turbine take this beta product forward and just keep making it better at and well beyond release.

I'll be the first to admit AC2 had its problems when it launched. However, all of these have now been resolved. The player classes are largely balanced, there is lots to do in game, the crafting system works well, there are now player run vendor shops, the PvP system is alot of fun, its a very newbie friendly game, the combat system is the best EVER in any MMOG. Its fast-paced, tactical, and requires skill rather than just button bashing. definately worth taking a look. Also there is an expansion pack coming out in March with a new race, new continent, and new expansion levels Hero system adding new skills and combat skill-chains.

Getting better

I originally played AC2 in beta and was one of the long-time AC1 players who vocally complained about the mechanics and bugs pervading the game during beta and at launch as well as the seemingly clueless development team willing to release the game with the myriad of flaws. I never purchased the game but did watch from a distance as the game failed, transferred solely to Turbine and began to receive the attention it needed to become the game it could have been all along. I am now playing AC2 again and can say that I'm truly having a blast. The game has made great strides, from the character development at the low to mid-levels to the quests that are readily available and fun to do in groups or solo. Additionally, the new crafting system is outstanding. There are still many areas that need attention, particularly the high level skills (called Hero skills in AC2) and the lack of storage, however, the game is certainly moving in the right direction. Download the free trial and give it a try...you just might find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find.

AC2: Game to be added later...

I also beta tested AC2, and personally I found it lacking in every other department besides graphics. Its easy to see where the most time was spent and where the corners were cut.

Gameplay is overly simplistic and very repetative, difference between characters is non-existant, as a human archer will have the exact same abilities as a tumerok archer who has the exact same abilities as a lugian archer. The skill system itself is very weak, and the game lacks a stat sytem completely.

The world itself is pretty, but lacks a lot of things, the cities consist of boxes with textures at this point. There are NO npc's, no shops to go through and check out possible weapons or armor you may have later. You recieve quests from bottles or from talking statues.

Conclusion: All in all the game plays and feels like an graphics engine demo then a real game, you're probably better off waiting 6 months to a year for them to add the things missing from the game, but by that time there will probably be something more interesting anyway.

Twenty hours, no sleep...must keep playing...

I don't understand how someone can say they have been playing the game for two weeks when it's only been out for one. At the time of this writing the server I play on has five hundred people and it's almost too crowded. You can't go to ANY town without seeing someone else.

The thing to keep in mind about this game is that it looks absolutely fantastic! It will keep improving too! Every month they are going to add new content and fix bugs. You can't buy another game ANYWHERE where the devolopers are constantly updating the product on a consistent monthly basis. So yeah, it has bugs and the game comes with a can of RAID! If this game ages as gracefully as AC1 you can expect it to stay state of the art for quite some time.

If you get addicted to social rpg games like this, you'll be stuck at your computer without sleep or food. You better get someone to remind you to go to the bathroom as well. You'll be dying to get "just one more level." The crafting system is a million times more fun than DAOC. I love making my own stuff and helping other people find ingredients.

The monsters are much smarter than other games too. They call for help, target attacks and also know how to get around objects.

I don't care what anyone else says. Writing this review is cutting into my play time! See you on the servers!

It's not AC1, but of course it's not.

AC1 and AC2 are different games. Neither is better in my opinion, but AC2's graphics are great, as is it's combat system. The quests are fun.
