Rare has really done it this time. I was lucky enough to go to E3 2002, and Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet was the best game there. Gameplay, graphics, and sound are what really make this game come alive. Rare's detailed graphics show the individual hairs on Fox's body, the graphic power of the Cube shows lush landscapes, and for the space mission, GCN's graphics show detailed spaceships. The gameplay is awesome. Fox has a variety of martial arts moves, and the plotline is like a movie. The sound is amazing. You will not forget these tunes. The sound effects are great too. This is a must-buy for any GameCube owner.

This'll be one of the best games of the year. Not only will it satisfy RPG fans young and old but old Starfox fans as well. This game features vast and beutifully textured landscapes, from vast primeival fields, to giant dinosaur citys, snowy mountains and volcanoes. During the game time passes from day to night, bringing life to the world, including white noise. Awesome music, and fur-rendering. The main plot is that the planet is literally getting torn apart by a high ranking officer named General Scales. But he is not alone with his followers he's taking over the land and destroying the peace. Starfox and team must save Dinossaur Planet and bring the world back together. Giant bosses await including a giant T-Rex and Praying Mantid-like Dinosaur. Starfox armed with his staff/spear will meet many new friends like Krystal a beutiful catgirl and Tricky a young Triceretops prince. It will include old friends as well like Slippy toad and Peppy Hare. Also included in the game are fast flying Arwing Missions. You will definitely feel the need to explore from when you first touch down on the planet to the final confrontation. You will actually feel The game pulling you into its world keeping you busy for months. A fun filled experience with voice and plenty of interactivity, featureing over 100 hours of gameplay made by the masterminds at Rareware the company that brought to life famous games such as the Donkey Kong series, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, and Killer Instinct.
A bad addition to an excellent series

Very simple. This game tries to be Zelda, but it isn't. No, this game is not a shooter like the two previous Starfox games. This is a 3rd person adventure game with some platforming thrown in. True, there are some classic Starfox shooting sequences, but they are very short, and resemble a minigame more than anything else.
As a game all by itself, it just isn't good. Like I said, it tries to be Zelda, but it isn't. There are no interesting dungeons or worlds. Most quests involve fetching something, bring it back, fetch something else, find someone, find something else....... (headache ensues). Not fun.
Then there's combat which is a matter of mashing the big green A button until the bad guy is dead. That's all there is to it. There is an alternate attack if you hold back on the analog stick, and Starfox twirls his stick around, but it actually does less damage, so it's ultimately pointless.
The only redeeming aspect of this game are the graphics. They are stunning in general, and are 2nd best I've seen for the platforming genre (First goes to Conker Live and Reloaded for the xbox, but Kameo for the Xbox 360 probably looks better). But, obviously graphics mean little when the gameplay sucks. They mean even less when you realize that graphics become outdated in a year or two (as I already stated, Conker looks better now).
I will admit however that some may like the game. Suprisingly a lot of reviews rate this game in the 8.x range. So rent it if you are really interested in it and decide for yourself.

Star Fox Adventures by Nintendo will be one of the best games the Nintendo GameCube will get this entire year. The first Star Fox for the Nintendo 64 was one of the best games for Nintendo 64. All that we know so far from the the presentations they have given us, pictures and movies, is that Star Fox appears to be on a desserted planet with a blue dinosaur. This dinosaur is supposed to help you and is your pet throughout the game. He can get quite annoying when he cries, but don't let that take away from the qualities of the game. It's graphics appear to be wonderful for the fantastic gaming system, Nintendo GameCube. Star Fox will sure not be a dissapointement. If I were you and you seemed interested in this game, I would go ahead and pre-order it here so you know you'll get one and won't even haft to stand in line for it.

This game is awesome! Now, instead of jusat flying, you will be traveling on foot using a magic staff to battle enemies. Sometimes you will take flight so don't worry if you love flying around. Peppey and Slippy will be there but (sorry Falco fans) Falco will not. The graphics and gameplay defenetly show off the GCN's power. The story line is original also. The game will (thank god) be longer than the one for N64 and it'll have tough, new, original bosses, and tons of characters!
One of the best

I will make this review in replacement for a different review that wasn't very helpful. So:
Starfox Adventures as beautiful landscapes and graphics. You can use a "command" by the small section at the top-right, such as in Zelda 64. You will slao be piloting your Arwing in space, and you will be armed with a staff. The enemies and dinosaurs look huge. The graphics look great, just what the cube does. And the characters look realistic-for example, ask anyone who as seen the screen shots for this game and they will tell you you can see the fur on Fox, and even Krystal and the rest. Falco, accroding to staff reviewers, will not be in this game. Maybe later on. Starfox has a small history on games, only Starfox for the SNES, Starfox 64 for N64, and now this one and the next one coming. I'd get this, but I have an odd feeling about a T Rating. I hope not, and it will probably be the most Comic Mischeif or Violence. So, the graphics are great, the landscape looks huge, the dinos lok too big for size, and the fun is must be never-ending. Enjoy!

Starfox Adventures is an amazing game. Let me start with the amazingly beautiful graphics. The graphics asa I said are amazingly beautiful and detailed. You can see each fur on Fox's head. When Fox gets tired sometimes he will stop and breath real hard. It's so realistic. Nintendo put so much effort into this game. The music is pretty good too. Sometimes when you are playing you hear a noise in the game and you think it's something outside of your room. One time I heard a creature laughing and thought it was my mom. I am a big Starfox fan. I have beaten all three Starfox games. After I beat Starfox 64 I heard about a Starfox 2 coming out. I waited for a month for it to come out on N64 and I didn't hear anymore news. So I got on Nintendo.com and read about a game called Starfox Dinosaur Adventures. I saw drawings of what Nintendo was planning on making it like. I thought it was gonna be awesome. Then I saw it was for Gamecube. And Gamecube wasn't out yet. So I had to wait for what seemed like forever to get Starfox Adventures. The weird thing was that the game was nothing like the drawings I had seen on Nintendo.com before the Gamecube came out. It was still fun though. I can't wait til Starfox 2 comes out. I am glad Rare didn't take Starfox. If they had Starfox would have been made into some bloody game like every other Xbox game.
Starfox is always going to be a great character in Nintendo's world of games.
Star Fox Adventures is the best game ever made.

Originally titled "Dinosaur Planet", an N64 game with original characters, the game was changed to Starfox Adventures and moved to Gamecube. At least a year after it's original release date, the results are finally in, and SFA proves to be an excellent adventure game, and one of the most satasfying gaming expiriences I've had since Metal Gear Solid 2. Jointly developed between Nintendo and the now Microsoft owned Rareware, The game is very similar to the Legend of Zelda game series in it's gameplay. You'll go through dungeons, battle huge bosses, interact with other characters, and collect special items and character upgrades. The game is not without flaws, but it manages to overcome them to be one of the best Gamecube titles to date.
This game has recieved some critisism from some reviewers about how there is item collection involved, but I had no problems with it. It was very similar Zelda, and never got annoying, boring, or tediouse like in Jet Force Gemini or Donkey Kong 64, where the core of the gameplay was built around item gathering.
The most unique difference between this game and Zelda is that in Starfox Adventures, the hero Fox is given a "Sidekick character", a baby Dinosaur named Prince Tricky. He is controlled with a command list mapped to the C-Stick. It adds a very interesting spin to the already superb gameplay. Tricky can breath flames, search for items, dig for secrets, stand on switches, and more.
The game also features several Arwing missions, wich are very similar to Starfox 64's missions, hower they aren't as good in my opinion. They feel sort of tacked on. However, the point of the game is the adventure, mentioned in the title. If you buy this game for the Arwing missions, you will likely be dissapointed. But, if you want a good Zelda style adventure game, this game doesn't fail to please.
Combat in the game is similar to Zelda, but better in many ways. Fox uses a enchanted staff as his weapon, and can preform dozens of cool combos by pressing the A button in cojuction with a direction on the control stick, pulling off moves that would make Soul Calibur's Kilik jelouse. The only dowside is that the AI here is a little to simple. The enemies never "gang up" on you, and as a result taking on hordes of enemies isn't as challenging as it could be. I only died about 5 times fighting basic enemies. Still though, the combat proves fun, even if slightly tediouse.
As for the story, the tranfer from "Dinosaur Planet" to Starfox Adventures wasn't as seamless as one might hope. It is my opinion that the game is better with Starfox Adventures, however it is easy to tell it didn't start out as SFA. The story has very few "Sci Fi" elements in it, and Starfox's team mates Peppy and Slippy are used rather sparingly. If the game had started out as Starfox, it would obviousely have Starfox written all over it. Still though, the game will manage to please most Starfox fans, sporting new, improved character designs for Fox and his buddies, and they also show alot more personality, with much improved voice acting and writing than Starfox 64. The game introduces new characters that are sure to be liked as well. The climax is very cool, however there's something that I won't spoil that came across as somewhat as a letdown, but I'll just say they set you up for a boss battle that doesn't actually happen. However, the actual ending is one of the most satasfying that I have even seen in a Nintendo/Rare game.
And of course, the Graphics. This game is without a doubt the best real-time graphics ever done on the Gamecube. The fur on the main characters looks amazing, utalysing a "fur shading" effect, similar to movies like Mosters Inc., and it looks stunning. In some areas the effect is actually used to make 3 dimensional grass, wich is also a sight to behold. The game runs at a fairly consistant 60 frames per second, with only minor slow down. It also features Progressive Scan and 16x9 widescreen, as well as Dolby Pro Logic 2 sound, wich is good news for those of us with high-end home theaters.
If you want an excellent Adventure game, and you're a fan of the Starfox franchise, this is a game worth owning. It is a little on the short side. It took me about 18 hours, going at a quick pace. If you go at a more leisurely pace, it may take you around 20. Still though, it's a game worth owning, and a definate must have for Starfox and Zelda fans.
