Love This Game

I'm not really a big fan of playing videogames. Some entertain me more than others. I've always been a fan of oddworld games, and I have almost every single one. If you enjoy weird creatures, and entertaining videogames, I think you'll love this one.

Fun, Funny, but Short

When I first picked up Munch's Odysee I was at awe. The graphics were great, the gameplay was original, and the fun never went away. So of course I was a bit shocked when the game ended.

Yeah, the game has lack of decent weapons, terrible AI, and disgusting side jokes but it's still very fun. And like I said, the only real downside is the length of play. I'd give an expert gamer one week at this game, an intermidiate one three weeks, and a beginner a month.

Just make sure you don't pass up the opportunity to play this game though because the constant puzzles, tricking, and possesion of enemies excitement will keep you immersed through out the entire game.

Why change the platform

The platform has been changed to fit the Xbox only. The start of this series was also designed to be played on a PC. Why must we give up the fun of playing because we can't afford an Xbox in this time of change?

Love It!!!!

Today I finally received my Xbox, and purchased a copy of Oddworld to go along with it. What can I say?? I love this game!! It reminds me of Mario World on the N64, in that you send Abe and Munch all over the place solving puzzles and finishing quests as Mario World 64 had you doing with Mario, except Abe and Munch are much more cool and humorous than Mario EVER WAS!!! It's an absolute delight to play and if you liked Mario World but not the "kiddie" mentality of the game, then you will LOVE Oddworld!!

Good is nothing comapre to this game

First a brief message to PS2 owners. Do not write a review for a game you have not played. Please don't come here to cry about the fact that Sony(shock of all shocks) actually has a competitor in a free market. Now on to Oddworld... The first two Oddworld games were among my favorites on the Playstation. These games were not mindless killing sprees, mario style platforming, or fighting. The company who made these games was truely trying to break the mold and redefine what a videogame could be. The first thing that one notices about an oddworld game is the level of attention given to the characters and the world they live in. The environments are lush and detailed. The characters are well designed aliens with distinct races. When playing the playstation games you could tell that they were trying to do something truely special and beyond that systems capabities. After the release of the first game oddworld Inhabitants annouced Munch a 3-d game which would spend forever in development eventually holding out for a next generation console. After three years I finally got to play Munch.
The game is very good and has high production values, but the translation to 3-d can make some of the levels tedious. The old 2-D games worked much like Prince of Persia in that you would solve the puzzle on screen then move on. In a fully realized world in Munch solving a puzzle can take a long time. Running back and forth between checkpoints, locks and levers can be daunting and a bit repetitive. Despite this odd shortcoming the game comes out in spades. The realistic worlds and characters really draw you in and the puzzles while dumbed down a bit from the previous games are still engaging. As with any puzzle game it requires patience. so if you're into fast action games then you may hate this. Also the first three levels are slow. They are basically there to teach you the ropes. Once Munch and Abe get together the pace picks up a bit but not a quick as some would like. In short this game plays identically to the first to games only in 3-D. I think some wanted a Zelda type of game but what we have here is really a reworking of the first as the developers probably originally intended it. In short if you liked the first two games then you'll most likely love this game even though a little of the charm is lost in 3-D.

Two Thumbs Up!!!!!!

I just got this game and it is great! The graphics are excellent and so are the characters. Xbox is much better than nintendo game cube.

Pleasantly suprised

Despite somewhat lackluster reviews, I found Munch's Oddysee to be very entertaining and quite fun. The graphics are gorgeous, the controls are simple, and the puzzle-nature of the game went at just the right pace to keep me interested. Also, some of the video cut-scenes are quite possibly the funniest I've seen on any next-generation system. Worth at least a rental, if not a purchase.

If x-box can come out with more games of this calibre it will definately be worth the money i spent for the package. This game has by far the best graphics I've ever seen on any system, The story is bizarre, unique, and engaging, it combines action and puzzle elements perfectly, the characters have personality, and over all it is one of the most entertaining games I've ever played.

Great for all ages

This is simply a spectacular game, all the more so for being a launch title. Fantastic graphics, clever gameplay and the best-realized characters I've seen in a videogame. Plus the great Oddworld humor. I'm playing this with my 4-year old at my side and we're fighting for the controller (he like to operate the robots and cranes, and to collect the spooce). When he goes to sleep I stay up and finish levels.
