Great for those who like offbeat adventure games

The Oddworld series is known for its entertaining offbeat games, and this entry is no different. Munch's Odyssey is definitely worth giving a shot if you are a fan of platformers or adventure games, and like offbeat humor. A great title overall.

Refreshingly Twisted

I pre-ordered this game for the xbox knowing only what I previously knew from the first two games from the people at Oddworld Inhabitants and right from the beginning of this game I knew that whatever this game would throw at me would be a Refreshingly Twisted brand of a gaming experience. The game is at first an unusual transition if you have played the previous two, which coincedenly were done in 2D can throw off newbies to the series. But, adaption comes quick, seriously, and you find yourself enjoying it more and more. The game begins with a tutorial like area that runs you through the basics of the game [this is not totally dumbed down, it's rather a good introduction to the game] this makes life easy. This also shows you how easy it is to interact with other characters in the game as you manuever around as either Abe or Munch. The graphics are what you would expect from Xbox, Amazing. Playability greatly utilizes the convenience of the Xbox controller and makes the game generally a dream to play. So if your tired of first-person shooters, racing or fighting games. I would have to recommend this game as it is a very fun game that will keep you entertained for a great while. The game is truly a breath of fresh air in this gaming genre and is really Refreshingly Twisted.

I originally didn't like Abe's Oddessy for Playstation. It grew very boring very fast. That is what I expected from this game (Munch's Odessy)also, but it came in my bundle no choices made by me. So, I gave it a chance. Now I find myself waking up earlier in the mornings before work to play a little. And I have a hard time putting the controller down. My wife likes to just sit and watch the game like it was a movie. The dialogue/game is so funny. It isn't a serious game, but a very fun game for all ages, on an unbelievably awesome system (x-box).

It will suck you in.......

This game is excellent fun. I was really into Halo and SSX Tricky when I started playing this game. Not any more! I haven't even touched them since I teamed up with Munch and Abe in the wacky world of ODD. I have never even written a review before but felt compelled to as I have been having so much fun with my two Oddworld buddies. Even if you were at the back of the line the day imagination was handed out, you cannot fail to appreciate the extraordinary scenery and characters in this game. (I dare say the game designers had a little Jack with their Coke) It has a few brain-teasers-but nothing too tricky (yet), and the thing that I particularly like about this game is that it TEACHES you how to play the game as you go along. Basically, early in the game, you are taught all the skills that you are going to need to crack each level, without having to resort to reading the manual (yawn) - which we all hate. The graphics are mindblowing, like most XBox games, but, having cut my teeth on the likes of Space Invaders and Asteriods etc., I appreciate it all the more.(I'm old.) That's it! Get it, play for half an hour and I guarantee you will be hooked unless you only have a double digit IQ. In which case, you're probably still struggling to plug your XBOX in anyway and so this review is redundant.
AWESOME!

I've been playing games for a long time on every system since the 2600 and the commodore all the way up and this is the best example of role playing story, great graphics, and fun game play that I have ever seen.

I have every xbox game out right now and this is by far the best one.

The game is odd, but then it is called "Oddworld" after all...so don't be shocked when you find yourself saying, "that's odd". But, the real question should be, "Is it fun?". That completely depends on your perspective...do you like slower paced games where you run around and collect things to solve puzzles? Jumping around to hit the next piece of the ladder? Telling little baby looking things to attack your enemies? Then this is the game for you. I personally enjoyed playing it, but I couldn't play it for a long amounts of time....I'd get a little bored....but that's me.

One thing that did bug me was some of the music, after a few hours, I couldn't stand listening to it....I had to turn the volume down just so I could keep playing. Younger kids will love this game, adults might shy away.

Great Game

This game is great. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is that a lot of gamers might shy away from the hard puzzles. Munch's oddysee has a great story line and is very humorous. The controls are great, but the black button used to switch between characters is out of the way and is a hassle. The graphics are good but don't measure up to those of halo. The puzzles can get to be repititous and and pointless about halfway through the game
The menus are very easy to navigate and the backstory function is very helpful if you haven't played the previous games. Overall it is a fun game the first time you complete it, it does get old the second time.

I love this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rented this game from Blockbuster, and I just couldn't stop playing it. This was the first game in a long time that I tried and said I'm definetly going to buy this game. I saved my money up and bought it the first chance I had.
Also, this is the first platformer that isn't all running and getting to the end of the level by killing everything. you have to put your mind to work, and you have to solve puzzles to get past parts of the game. But that's not what the game is about. When you're Abe, you have to save your fellow Mudokens who are prisoners, and who are still free. When you're Munch, you have to save little furballs, their fur looks outstanding with the XBOX graphics, named Fuzzles who are imprisoned.
If you are looking for a challenging, satisfying, and rewarding game, you don't have to look any further. this game has everything you would need, unless you're looking for a Crash Bandicoot type game with non-stop action. This game may turn those people that want to kill things non-stop in a platformer off.
I believe this game ranks right up there with Halo, Dead or Alive 3, and all the other hits for the XBOX. This is definetly much better than Crash Bandicoot.

Suprisingly Fun

When I first started playing this game, I thought, oh no, I just wasted fifty bucks. But then after I played a while, I realized that this isn't just another formula crash bandicoot game. It has a creative plot and interesting characters to interact with. Also, you switch between the two heroes, Munch and Abe, so you don't get tired of them. Very nice graphics, but a little dark. Overall a creatively conceived game all around that makes you want to keep playing.

Awesome - Plain and simple

Have played all of the series and this one is like the frosting on a cake. Excellent graphics, Awesome sound effects. Story line is intense and well planned out.

You cannot get a correct feel for this game playing only the demo, this game is one that last a LONG time.

I Highly recommend this game for anyone who is into a game that takes strategy and pinpoint accuracy to win.
