Oddly Pleasing, Yet Very Satisfying!

Ok, so in this world of macho power tools and incredible manly type games like Halo, I have to admit that Oddworld was a very fun game. I purchased this for a 9 year-old, and watched him play for a bit. I found the graphics to be stunningly rendered, and the characters odd, but somewhat amusing.

So when everyone else went to sleep, I started playing on my own....little knowing that I would be immersed into such charismatic play. You really start seeing the interplay between Munch and his limited physical abilities and Abe with his physical strength.

The game is best when you have to use both characters to complete a task. It's good to see a game that stresses cooperation and mental fortitude over sheer weaponry.

A note: a few parts of this game are disturbing--killing mutant dogs (called slogs) is a bit disconcerting as you kill them and hear them yelp like dogs in pain. While it is fun seeing the bad guys get their just rewards, young kids probably shouldn't have this game.

FUN FUN FUN otherwise....I'm replaying now to see if I can achieve the perfect score!

A Very Entertaining Game

A very weird, but entertaining plot, Munch's Oddysee starts off with explaining each characters (Munch and Abe) story. It's up to you (the gamer) to save Oddworld from the evil Vykkers, greedy bigwigs, and the Glukkons! You will be playing the game as Munch AND Abe, always switching back and forth between levels, or in the same level. You will be saving from fuzzles about to fry, to Muddokins about to die!!! Sound ODD so far?!?

Munch's Oddysee has to be the PERFECT puzzle game for pretty much anyone w/ a crazy and funny sense of humor. Even parents can get hooked on this great puzzler! With great eye candy, and great visuals of camera angles, this game did not hold back on graphics and creativity! Through the levels, you will need to work through some puzzles to move through to later stages. Most of the time, Munch and Abe will need to work as a team. Although there are some levels that include fighting and violence, its pure fun and excitement, rather than blood and gore.(Making it very suitable for young ages!) You will also need to save many furry little creatures called fuzzles, and Abes friends called Muddokins.(Who are pretty brain dead, and really needs Abe's guidance! :))

If you are looking for a crazy, odd game that will keep you playing for hours on end, and never ending in excitement, im sure this game will be for you! With great graphics, puzzles, and characters, this game is great for all ages! You may want to rent this game before buying just to make sure this is the game that you can get into! I hope this review helped you in deciding if this games for you! :)

Very Cute Game!

I think this game is so adorable! It has great graphics and two way cool characters. The first character you play with is named Abe. He has a bunch of friends he meets up with with some funny humor. If Abe tells his friends to work on something Abe says,"Get to work guys," and his pals say, "Yah whatever," or something cute like that. They also say a lot of other cute stuff together. It's a real entertaining game and funny too. Then the next character you meet up with is Munch, he also has pals called jub jubs who are really cute and nice to Munch but they are mean and wicked to the evil folk that lurk around everywhere. It has really funny stories to it also. It's really fun and I suggest you buy or rent it. Everyone in your family will enjoy it a lot. It's like watching a movie with this game, a very funny one! As I said before it's cute cute cute and my Dad and little sister love it! It was worth getting really it was. My little sister as I said loves to watch either me or my dad play it. So get or regret! Thanks for reading something that isn't the Constitution from a 12 yr. old! -LilFlameball77

Lots of fun, funny, & easy to learn for kids and adults

Picked up this game and couldn't put it down for hours. Each adventure is unique and is addicting. The storyline is cute, corny at times, and I found myself laughing much to my surprise. Great for kids (although some might find the characters a little too strange looking) and adults (the humor is quite amusing.)

Can a video game be described as eccentrically charming?

This game (and its characters) have got so much personality it spills over right into your lap. Darn, and these were brand new pants.

This game is WICKED cool visually, it has good sound, and an excellent storyline...so far, a bit on the easy side, but if I recall the other OddWorld games, that won't last.

Platform/run & jump & shoot type games aren't really my style, but this combines that genre with a significant amount of problem-solving and interaction with other lifeforms within the game.

What this game has (which is something I prize in books as well as games)is UNIQUENESS. Now I know that sounds like an 'Odd' thing to say about a game that is third in a series, but the addition of Munch, and the fact that the game is completely in
3-D make this a truly singular experience. Most games of this type are mindless repetition and no story, but this series is almost closer to a Pixar film than a video game. Go get it!

A great game at a great price!

This is definitely a fantastic game. I just recently purchased an XBox. I have been away from gaming for a while, and I had heard that the XBox was pretty cool so I went for it. I am glad I did. The only thing I regret is that I bought the console with the two games that came with it (Jet Set Radio Future and some racing game). The games it came with are lackluster. I saw the great price Amazon.com was selling Oddworld for and ordered it. I am glad I did.
First of all, this game is hilarious. The expressions that Munch and Abe make and their wisecracks are practically enough reason to buy it. The graphics show off what the X-box is capable of quite well. As far as the gameplay is concerned, it is primarily a strategy and puzzle game. I think one of the things the creators of this game did which makes it so much fun is the fact that there is often more than one solution to the different dilemmas Munch and Abe find themselves in. As some have commented, it is not a fast-paced game. Personally, I think that's okay. I think there's something to be said for games that make you think. Last but not least, the difficulty of the game is just about right. You will often find yourself in situations that seem insurmountable, but with time you figure it out; point being that it is challenging but not border-line impossible like some of the games out there.
The only cautionary note I would give is that there are some aspects of the game that parents might find offensive for kids under thirteen. There is some mild profanity in the game; no four letter words but language you would nonetheless not want your eight year old repeating. There was one allusion to a four letter word by the shaman who gives you hints.
All in all, this is a really neat game...

This game, Like every new game I've seen for PS2 or XBOX, just amazes me... Graphics, versatility... Wow. But, then, my very first game system was black and white Atari-type that played only pong.

But what I loved most about the first two games (which I've got for Playstation I) Oddyssee and Exodus -- is that they are not "shoot-em-ups." Those games, you would sneak by your opponents while they slept, carefully defuse the traps they laid for you, rush quickly away from angry beasts and jump out of the way at the last minute so they would eat the bad guys trying to shoot you, lead bad guys into their own traps, and quietly lead otehrs to safety while trying real hard to make sure that THEY didn't get eaten or munched.

But in Munch's Oddyssee you don't get to do that kind of cool stuff. You find friends and/or pets, and then order them to beat up the bad guys... Not really very cool. Very repetitive. NOT cinematic. Too bad, because the game LOOKS awesome. :-(

Awesome Series - But I'm missing out on the 3rd release

I have the 1st and 2nd OddWorld releases and it was the best game I have ever played. Great strategy, unique ways of solving, hilarious antics, (gotta love the farts!), great graphics and chantings, and all-in-all, one hell of a lovable character, ABE. We own a playstation which is what the first 2 games were played on and can't see buying a whole new system for just this game. Maybe someday I'll get to finish the OddWorld quest. I'll be in search of a neighbor who has one. If you've never played OddWorld and have the XBox, get it. You won't reqret it!

The most addictive game ever!

I started playing this game and in 2 minutes I was hooked. If you want a game where you go around shooting everything in sight, don't buy this game. This is a game of figuring out puzzles and using strategic menouvers to not hurt yourself and your friends that you're rescuing. It might be a little frusturating using Munch on the land since he moves so slow, but it gets so much easier when you get his wheelchair. The graphics are amazing. When I first turned on the game I was in awe at what I saw ecspecially the movies they're so amazing. You will not regret buying this game.
