I don't think there are many of these types of games around. By 'these' I mean somewhat realistic non-first person shooters. Especially on the xbox, where aliens and purple colored things always ship. Adding that it takes place in the Gulf War makes it all the better. There are some neat new things not seen elsewhere; One of my favorites is having the ability to call in air strikes. The army does actually do this, send out teams who identify targets on the ground and lock in their position, which then are bombed by planes. This was done a lot in Afghanistan for example. For the most part, you do the same stuff as in RogueSpear/Counterstrike/Others, plant explosives, remotely set them off, get a gun, a rifle and an anti-tank missile launcher. There are different kinds of each, from m16 to a ak47 and so on. I haven't seen a tactical team mode this well developed elsewhere, you can switch between several people very easily, issue orders and so on. It's clever. It does try to keep close to reality, on easier levels it's not 'one shot kills', but it's pretty close when you're near by a shooter. Though if you're shot, you switch to another team mate, who comes with a medical kit and fixes you up, you can do this forever really, unless all of your team is dead. Which is why you don't take your entire team for scouting, one or two at a time.
I'd say the graphics were very good, especially the city missions. Sound is DD5.1 and it's nice, if the soundtrack isn't to your liking you have the option of playing your own stuff of the xbox's hard drive (music you've ripped).
Again, xbox hadn't a game like this yet, and it's something that a lot of you Counterstrike fans might enjoy. Halo is fun, but in terms of gameplay, but this feels more natural. In October and November there'll be a slew of games, with Xbox Live coming out and all, including Ghost Recon and MGS2 and Splinter Cell, I wonder if this games might be missed. I sure hope not.

Conflict is one of those games that you and your friends could play forever, but when it comes to single player it lacks. Mult. is a heck of alot of fun, the first night we got it we played from 8pm to 4 in the mourning. Its cool because you can cover each other, and help one another. In single player you have to move every person around, or just have them follow you, but the A.I. is about as smart as a box of rocks, if your team is following you and you get fired apon they just turn around and start ripping shots off, instead of taking cover, or i'll sneak around a corner and i'll turn around and my guys decide they will just run balls to the walls around the corner and then stand there and get shot, one time I used the heavy weapons guy to creep up on a tank and I hide him behind a transport truck, then I switch to another guy. but when I switched over the computer decided he would blow up the truck I hid him behind, then he stood there and took a tank shell to the face....(that resulting in some f words). Alot of people have complained about the controls when moving you troops, but its not hard at all, at first you get alittle angry, but you'll get the hang of it, really I dont know what people expect the developers to do, they did about the best job they could with a console controller,(the xbox doesnt have a keyboard people!) The hummers are really cool they have a rocket lancher and a machine gun, they are sweet, but the controls when you drive them [stink]. It almost seems like your driving on ice, there are just way to touchy. Other than that the controls work very well, you move your guys just like halo, which I believe is the best controls you can ever have for a FPS. All in all if you have some friends to play this game with get it you'll enjoy it, if not maybe rent it first, or go with another squad based game, where the A.I. is alittle smarter(Ghost Recon)
So basically, Multiplayer=Conflict: Desert storm
Singleplayer= Ghost Recon
A Great Game

This is the first shooter game I played where you can move in squads and at the same time switch from third person to first person. The graphics are great and the controls are even better. You can switch the people while in your squad. Each person has different capabbilities. Each soldier also improves in ranks and can get medals plus even improve in skills such as rifleman, sniper, medic, and combat engineer. I highly reccomend this game

This is a great action/combat game for the XBOX. You control up to 4 different characters to accomplish military objectives in game set during the Gulf War.
The missions are entertaining and challenging. The graphics are realistic, character control is easy, and map layout is great.
One downside, once you have completed the game, it will seem too short. I would have loved more missions. The multiplayer action adds gameplay, but I need more missions in singleplayer mode.
Overall a 8.5 out of 10. A very under-rated game that deserves a sequel.
Terrific single player game

This game is a great way to waste a weekend. It was difficult to master the controls at first, but once I moved past that simple obstacle, I had a great time. I like the difficulty of the game, and it's realism.
It's unlike Halo or Time Splitters 2 where you can just blast your way through when you get in trouble. You really have to think and maneauver.
Controlling four squad members at once is a very interesting and fun tactically. This is a perfect mix between real time strategy formats and first person shooter, and the command options really add a sense of depth to the strategies.
I played it with a few of my buddies, and we really enjoyed the multiplayer games. All in all, it's worth the fifty bucks.
I'm a bit disapointed

I was really excited to play this game when it came out a couple days ago. I went right out and bought it. However, after working through a few missions, it turned out to be a bit disapointing. I suppose I might just be a bit spoiled after playing Halo for a couple months. It seems like they tried to combine elements of SOCOM (PS2 Game) and Halo, but weren't very successful. The graphics aren't that amazing, and the game play is rough and not much fun. They had some great concepts, but didn't implement them very well. I like the idea of being able to control a team of four soldiers, communicating orders to the soldiers, having an inventory of items, and being able to actually switch between the different soldiers. Yet, it still didn't do it for me. There isn't much depth to the levels, and the tactics that the computer AI uses just aren't that great, making the game not require too much thought. I'm going to exchange this for Hitman 2 and see if I like that.
Great replay value

Sure the graphics are outdated and the control system takes some getting used to but once your past that you will be hooked on this game forever. The replay value is increadable, as you can get promotions and medals. Once your through the game you instantly start a new game and attempt to get all the award this game offers. The shooting sequences, although not intense put you at the edge of the seat as you are thankful to be alive from one second to the next. Get three of your friends together this weekend and kill the night (And the terrorists...)

this game is now added to my short list of xbox favorites. This games got everything great graphics, EXTREMELY realistic (airstrikes, c4, m16, and of course SNIPERS), another thing is that you can upgrade the inividuals on my team based on the individuals play in the previous level. Its got very clever squad based action and easy command usage, and my favorite anti tank missles. One of the only bad things about this game is that its a little slow on switching weapons. Last thing the enemy AI is one of the best i have ever seen.
Amazing multiplayer game

My roommate purchased this game in the hopes of having something like Quake to play on his XBox. He didn't get what he expected, but it's a great game nonetheless.
Focused more on strategy and teamwork than massive, fast-paced guns & glory style action, Conflict is a very challenging game. Playing in single player mode, you must control a team of four people - but only one at any given time. In the meantime, your teammates follow horrendous AI and are usually the reason you're angrily slamming the reset button.
The multiplayer, on the other hand, is fantastic!
Instead of faulty computer AI controlling your team, you and your friends join forces to complete the same campaign as the single player. Because teamwork is so vital, actually being able to communicate with your team members (your friends) is crucial, and works well. Countless times I've put down a research paper because someone in the hall is shouting "Conflict!" followed by shouts of "I want the sniper!" and "I want the demo guy!" etc.
If you want a FPS that requires some actual thought or simply want a fun game for more than one person, get this game.

Conflict Desert Storm is a great third-person shooter game! I bought it and my friends did too, after they played it at my house. This comes complete with Multiplayer, Good Graphics, and Good Weapons. This is worth buying.
Graphics are good, and guns realistic. Graphics are probably close to as good as Halo, and about as good as those Medal of Honor Frontline delivers. They are a bargain. You can see your rounds being fired like in Halo. Guns are not sticks that your characters hold either. Some weapons available are: RPG, LAW, M-16/M-203 grenade launcher, AK-47, Ak-74, Desert Eagle pistol, Baretta pistol, and Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles. (Note: these are not all of the weapons available
Gameplay is good with missions based on Desert Storm itself. This is better than Halo or Frontline because you can give orders to your squad such as , setting up cover-fire, hold, advance, and hold or open fire. This is a neat option, because it enables you to take objectives in an organized fashion without taking many casulties. First of all I am not obsessed with X-Box as much as my friends, and I enjoyed all of the nearly 7 hours straight one night. This has great gameplay.
I would give this a 4 of 5 and a 9.5 of 10. Good game, this is one to buy.
