I am generally a big fan of the Nancy Drew games - I love adventure games and found that Nancy Drew games are not just for kids. However, I really was not thrilled with this one - the tasks and puzzles seem to be WAY too drawn out. After a while it seemed like such a chore to get thru a task. Even consulting a walkthrough, I got bored real quick - and got to a point where I just could not sit thru it anymore. The only other game I've stopped playing in the middle of it was "Journey to the Center of the Earth".
I thought Message in the Haunted Mansion was far more fun.
great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 11-year-old daughter and I played this together, and we both enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed it because I really miss the adventure genre of computer gaming and wanted a break from the shooter-style games. She enjoyed it because she loves Nancy Drew mysteries, and enjoyed pretending she was Nancy herself! The graphics are great, and the user interface was simple but effective. Although she played on the Novice level, a couple of the puzzles would have been too frustrating and difficult for her alone if I had not been there to support her. This was also her first game of this type, so she didn't yet have a grasp of the flow and rhythm of this style of game. After either another year or another game or two of this type, though, she should be able to do it alone. There was at least one part in the game that she found pretty scary, and my 8-year-old son was completely frightened and had to stop watching us play. This is a great game for the 11 and up set, with a healthy sense of adventure. It was fun for me, too, though I like a little more challenge. The expert mode doesn't increase the difficulty of the puzzles themselves, but it does remove the information found on Nancy's laptop (clues), so you have less of an idea what to do next. Overall, this was an excellent game and a really great value. It's something kids and parents can do together and both will really enjoy.
A fine edition to the Nancy Drew library

'Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake' is one of the best Nancy Drew games yet. It's one of those few that are actually scary. The beginning when Nancy first hears the 'ghost dogs' is truly chilling. Game play is fun. The only thing is the repetition of walking in the woods. But the big picture is worth it! As in every ND game, there is a little lesson in it. This one teaches about the Depression and the prohibition of the '20s. You also learn how to read/write Roman numerals.
Overall, a winner!

This was by far my favorite out of all the nancy drew games. And i've played them all up to and including the new one, number 16. The mystery takes place in a huge castle like hotel, and its so huge i got lost several times. The mystery is focused around Marie Antoinette, her journal and a diamond. You learn alot about Marie Antionette's history while you help Proffessor Hotchkiss, a nutty french historian who spends her time couped up in her room, not leaving even when she claims she was robbed. You meet a famous french skiier, Jaques Brunes, along with a reporter named Lisa and the guy running the place. I think his name is Mr. Eagan. You have to find your way into a locked and half destroyed library, you get locked outside to freeze, and you get hit over the head just as you think the mystery is about to be solved. Its great fun and the puzzles can be stumping. i loved it!

Nancy Drew Danger on Deception Island was very intreging and mysterious. It wasn't to easy and it wasn't to hard. It was very well done and did not bore you at all!
I, personally thought that it could be scary at times but thats the whole point right!?

I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING THIS GAME AFTER READING SOME OF THE REVIEWS, IT SEEMED TO HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS OF A GREAT MYSTERY.
ALTHOUGH THE GAME HAD THE POTENTIAL TO EXPAND TO A GREAT EVOLVING SUSPENCE, I FELT IT DID NOT FULLY TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY. THE RESULTS WERE IN MY OPINION, FLAT CHARACTERS WHO'S PERSONALITYS BEG TO BE WOKEN UP, A LACK OF EXPLORATION INTO THE MANY ROOMS IN THE GAME, IE DEXTERS ROOM , JAQUES ROOM ETC YOU I FELT AS THOUGH I WAS PLAYING ONLY HALF A GAME.THEN IT ALL ENDS TOO QUICKLY FOR THE PRICE. I CERTAINLY WAS LEFT FEELING IS THAT IT. I HAVE NOW PLAYED ALL THE NANCY DREW GAMES , THEY ARE NICE BUT TOO SHORT IF YOUR HOPING IT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH THE FESTIVE SEASON.

I've played all the Nancy games and have enjoyed them all to varying degrees, but I have to say I didn't much enjoy this game at all. The standard Nancy game variables are all there; interview suspects, hunt for clues, avoid game ending mishaps, and solve the case, but this game did not do a great job with presentation. There were only a couple of marginally difficult puzzles to solve, even on the hard level, and while normally playing the Nancy games, I would have to have a note pad and pen to write down info. located during the game that would be needed to progress, now Nancy has a data computer, and keeps track of all items of importance she encounters herself, virtually eliminating any kind of player sleuthing, this would be fine if you were truly stuck and needed help, but checking the computer may give answers to questions the player hasn't figured out for themselves yet, even if Nancy has. But my biggest gripe was that there were a couple of very annoying bugs with this game, something I've never encountered with any of the other Nancy games, I actually had to download a patch to fix one bug. A couple of times the game locked up on me causing me to have to redo much of it again. And some problem near the end when I kept dying by trying to do the thing I needed to. All in all, I would have to say, if you are a big fan of these games go ahead and give it a try, otherwise, this may be ones of those mysteries, better left unsolved.
