great game, but takes time

this is a really great and fun game. there are a lot of cool modes in this game such as, career mode(where u race others for their cars), cruiz mode(where you just drive around the city),etc. this game takes time. it puts up a challenge. to get the opponants' cars, you have to be like a good driver(i wanna say) and aggressive, b/c they will try to spin you out and try other sneaky stuff. over all i really liked this game. but the only thing is, you really have to try hard. so, i would suggest buying this game.

The best racing game for PS2

If you want to have that exhilerating feeling of racing through the downtown area and freeway of two big cities in two different countries, this is the game to buy! Midnight Club: Street Racing is simpily the best racing game and very close to being the best Ps2 game out right now! It provides for hours, even months, maybe even years of fun. It has great looking police vehicles, buses, meter maids, fast pacing sport cars, doulbe deckers, and taxi's. You have to earn all the cars, which will take a while but is very rewarding. It has several diffent games to play in arcade, and also includes a career game. Midnight Club: Street Racing has a sure future of being a Ps2 Classic!

When I first saw this game, I really wanted to get it. When I finally got it, I thought it was very fun. Atleast until I had played it for a few days. That's when it started getting boring. It was way too easy. I mean, you know, I would always beat the guy I'm racing against. And getting the secret cars was a sinch. I think anyone who likes to get through games VERY quickly should buy this. You'll get through this pretty fast, unless you haven't played racing games before.

Good thought for the game, but the product not the greatest

After reading several reviews on Amazon.com and couple of other web sites, and then finally maing the purchase, and actually playing the game, I'm somewhat disappointed in its design, gameplay and the story. I've expacted a little more. Truely graphics need to be improved, they don't look like PS1, but need major improvement. Gameplay is simply okay, but the story and the plot of the game could be done with more sense. I personally hate the idea of chasing some guy around NYC for couple of longer minutes, before he finally stops and tells you, that you can race him. The game itself is somewhat confusing as it lacks good instructions and what the objectives are.

If I were to rate this game by gameplay, design, etc. here is what you can expect (on a sacle from 1 - 10):

Gameplay - 6
Graphics - 7
Sound - 7
Fun to play - 5
Value - 8 ...

Beautiful

I thougt racing games were the most boring genre until I played Midnight Club. The racing game of the year for sure. I absolutely cannot get enough. A+. Also Try: Burnout.

not as good as i thought it would be.

i saw themovie fast and the furious and loved it. So the next day i go to get this game for only 20 bucks and thought it was a good purchace. i got home and started playing. It had alot of promice to be the best racing game ever but after 1 hour it got old. one of its big problems is getting in to a race. you have to find somebody and follow him tell he stops then race him. good idea bad execution. often i will be going 150 mph trying to keep up with him then he does something stupid like runs inot traffic or a wall then i will go speeding by him then he wil make some cheesy comment about how slow i am and i will have to find him again and start over i hope MC2 will do away with system. another problem is its a auto save game and you have to beat new york to save and that can take awhile. these may not sound like much but it is. Like GT3 i was icredibly exited about my blind purchace and then icreadibly disapointed.Note to self no more blind purchasing of racing games. Despite the major problems its still a o.k game but if you just do arcade mode its worth the 20 bucks.if Midnight Club 2 can spruce up the graphics and fix the main problems it should be pretty good

Ugh!

Where to start? The graphics really could use improving... The ground looked nice when it was wet, but that was about it. Everything reminded me of PS1. The physics were horrible! Doing 120mph and then slamming on the e-brake and sliding would bring you to a dead stop in a split second. Taking 90 degree turns at 100 mph. The computer doesn't use much skill when driving, just frantically jumps around avoiding cars... The "line" (the ideal path to take into and out of a turn) really doesn't exist with the computer. The dialog and story line was not only cheesy, but almost offensive in that it's so stereotypical. The game doesn't have any licensing, so all the cars are made up, except for one, I think... You can't modify or tune your cars, and you can't win money and buy cars, you can only acquire cars by winning a specific race. In which case you win the car you just raced... So game progression is slow. I rented this game this evening, and I'm going to be returning it tomorrow

Good Classic

If you like the Midtown Madness series you should enjoy this game. It has the look and feel of a midtown madness game and is developed by the same developer, Angel Studios. The only difference is you can nail pedestrians and send them flying. This actualy is more fun than it sounds. Can't wait for the sequel!

A nice effort but too bland to keep my interest.

I admit I was biased when I picked this title up because I was already immersed in Grand Theft Auto 3 and Gran Turismo 3 at the time. I was not expecting this game to be anything like GTA3 but I did expect the quality to be similar. Graphic wise Midnight club came up well short of the visuals in GTA3. The city is bland and choppy. Not convincing for a PS2 title. The racing is ok but nothing spectacular. Car physics are a tad sluggish and finding your way around can be a tedious chore. Car selection is also very limited at the beginning of the game. The difficulty is also a tad high but not too hard if you get into it. Unfortunately I was not impressed since this was one of the first titles I owned for the PS2 and it just bored me. GT3 is a far superb racing game and GTA3 is Rockstar's classic with GTA4 out now. If you are thinking about picking this title up because of it's bargain price I would suggest you skip it and hit GT3 for the same tag. Also Midnight Club 2 is comming out and it seems to have really beefed up the game so try the new version as this edition was just boring.
