WARNING NO MULTIPLAYER!

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 16 / 17

Dispite what the editorial review says there is no 2 player option. And thats a real shame because that would be the main reason why i would buy a game like this. Go to the manufacturer sight and see for yourself. Its a fun game for 1 person but dont buy it thinking that it has multiplayer casue it dosnt

The game, like the movie, is a dissapointment.

This game falls short of expectations on the heals of Nintendo's successful 'Goldeneye' game for the N64 system. This time around, Nintendo has bowed out as they seem to want to concentrate soley on the 'kiddie' games (Mario-like adventures) and have left the gaming to movie giants MGM. Therein lies the problem - this is far too 'movie' oriented as it attempts to follow the TND screenplay as closely as possible while forgetting to make the game fun for the player.

Compared to other stellar spy/shooter games like Syphon Filter, Rainbow 6 and the afore mentioned Goldeneye, you have a loser on your hands. However, if you have never played this type of game before it will most likely hook you as it does have some nice action and play in certain areas once you get used to the 3rd person interactivity which is becoming the norm these days (Syphon, Metal Gear, Resident Evil, etc.). This game is definately a rental and once you've conquered this relatively short game, go grab one of the others I've mentioned and prepare to be pleased that you didn't waste your money here.

worth the wait

this game is as good it is hyped up to be. it captures the true feeling of the bond movies much better then Goldeneye. it is far more then a shooter, and is very unique with its drving/sking/recon/shooting/puzzle solving/actual footage from the movie. This game is great, and it makes the gamer feel like they are BOND.

BAD BAD BAD Game - Some Cool Effects Though

Poorly assembled, strictly shoot 'em up, no strategy at ALL, filled with very annoying bugs...I thought it was going to be like Goldeneye but not even close! I like the way the combine the actual scenes from the movie, but that is the only redeaming quality. Rent this game before you buy it PLEASE!

EA should have done better with the Bond license

I buy just about every action game that comes out for the Playstation and I have to say I was very disappointed with this one. The reason I bought the game is that I liked the whole idea of a third-person action adventure featuring Bond doing a variety of things: shooting, skiing, driving, etc. It sounded like a really great package. Unfortunately, the game is plagued with first-generation graphics, a choppy framerate, sloppy control, extremely easy missions, and very limited environments. About the best thing I can say for it is that it does include some cool Bond gadgets, a great intro, and good cut scenes between missions. The game is so short that it is only worthy as a rental. In fact, without a strategy guide, it can be beaten in a mere 5-7 hours. If you want to experience great mission-based games with some depth, go for Syphon Filter or Metal Gear Solid. Bond deserves much better than this! Electronic Arts, you blew it!

Don't Compare it to Goldeneye

I have played the original Goldeneye many times, and I love it, and then I played the new Tomorrow Never Dies on playstation. The main thing that I kept in mind going into testing out the game was to not compare the original Goldeneye to the new game. This is because the first game was a masterpiece (i.e multi-player) and the second game is great, but on a different level. If you compare the two games, you probably will not like the new game. BUT, if you have an open mind, you will love this new installment. I HIGHLY recommend it to any one willing to try it!

If you are looking for excitement and a challenge, this game is not for you. I bought this game two days ago for my husband. In less that 7 hours of play he beat the agent level. After just 4 more hours of play he is two missions away from beating 007 mode. This is with no strategy guides or walkthroughs. He feels absolutely no challenge in this game. This is from the same guy who still has not beaten Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64 (we believe there is no way to beat it without a game shark)after two years of playing it. Don't buy this game unless you have money to blow or just want to add to your collection.

Don't expect the same as Goldeneye

As a big fan of the Nintendo 64 "007" adventure, I was expecting great missions for the single player and then exciting multi-player action. The missions in Tomorrow Never Dies are excellent in graphic detail, well thought out, and not so easy that you want to return the game immediately. But, and I mean a big BUT, where is the multiplayer fun that we all came to know and love with Goldeneye for the N64? I will miss all the fun that my friends and I had slaughtering each other on the screen. I loved it because more than one person could become involved and people weren't bored watching just one person playing the game. Electronic Arts has built a good game; I'll give them that. They just left out my favorite part. If you live for the multi-player action; don't buy this game. If you live for addicting single player missions, this is definitely a must for you.

I was really looking foward to the release of TND and suffice it to say I was not let down. The game is quite fun although it is very short. The main problems with the game is the lack of control. The designers should have put a quick turn button as there are many situations that call for such an action. Also you have to position Bond right on top of a lock, switch, etc... before he will activate the device. Besides the minor control problems the graphics and sound are excellent and the FMV's are from the movie. Another nice feature is the ability to save the game right after the completion of a mission, so you can play for a half-hour and shut it off. While the game is not on the level or length of Metal Gear or Syphon Filter it is still alot of fun to play and is a must for the Bond enthusiast.

Tomorrow Never Dies - decent, but not outstanding

Bond is back and everyone seems to be comparing this game to Goldeneye. I don't totally agree with this; although I think in some respects this is a fair comparison, but as a whole TND is different. TND has some great features that outdo the bad ones. The soundeffects and music are really well done, some of the best I've heard for the PlayStation. The presentation is also great, BlackOps did a nice job integrating video clips from the movie into the cut scenes at the end of each mission. The only criticisms I have are that they are more than a few clipping problems and in certain spots the framerate drops and is really noticable. Also, the weapon/item select controls take some getting used to. I was dissapointed to see that there is no multiplayer in TND, but perhaps that is good since it might have caused even more problems. The enemy AI is fairly good and I particularly like using the sniper rifle. All in all, this is a good, solid game; not bad, but not really, really good either. I think they could have improved on a few things if they had spent more time in development, it seems a bit rushed. At least Bond is back, and this time he's on the PlayStation!
