I think that this is te best game of the series. The graphics are improved from the previous games, and definately more complicated. The egyptian adventure features intertwined levels, a storyplot that goes back to the origins of Lara Croft, better control methods than the earlier games, and even better cheatcodes :P. I do not recomend this game for beginner players. If, however, you have played the other tombraider games, or are up to a challenge, this is definately the game for you.

Wow, how things have changed!

I bought TLR to complete my TR set for Playstation. WOW! Had I TOTALLY forgotten how different the controls for Lara are! I know I will enjoy working through this game as much as the others.

Would be better with todays graphics but whatever...

I been playing this game since 1999. I just recently hooked up my playstation and loaded it with where i ended off back in like 99 or 00. I can't figure out this level with like these wheels in the ground (like ships wheels) in a dark area with torches on the wall, that you have to turn, there are like 3, don't know what direction to put them in to open something, any help? would like to beat this game before 2010, other than that its a sweet game

This game is definitely worth every penny. It's the longest in the series, and the most fun. I don't know why everyone's like "Tomb Raider 2 is the best!!!" well, sure the Barkhang Monastery was cool. But this games vast levels make up for it. It took me years to beat this game. Cuz I didn't cheat and look at walkthroughs. (yah i know you do) About every level is gynormous and has tons-o-puzzles to solve, and enemies to annihilate, or run from. Even a level where you're on a moving train. It's a cool story. You start the first level (basically a training level) and you play as young Lara being mentored by Werner Von Croy, but his greed gets the best of him and he gets stuck in cambodian ruins. Later he comes back to kill Lara because she has the amulet of Horus and set Seth free. And Von Croy is bent on world domination or something.
Whenever you think the game is gonna end, theres another level, and another level, an another level. Which makes you keep playing and playing. Levels link together and you have to backtrack and remember where things are, which tests your thinking skills. There's even a level where you have to play a giant board game, with an ancient face who's attached to the wall, which sounds retarded but its awesome.

great great great

This is definitley something worth spending your money on! All of the other games (except Tomb Raider 2) make the series look very bad. The first one seems pretty lousy, the third one is quite stupid and impossible to beat, and Angel of Darkness stinks beyond belief! The second one is fairly good, but The Last Revelation is really great! I recieved this game for my birthday and loved it right away. You reallly have to think about the possiblities of what to do and the puzzles are pretty brain bending. I would not recomend this game to kids under 9 years old. This is because there are mummies and skeletons in several boards. (Which is actually pretty fun once you learn the secret to killing them. Bwa ha ha ha!) If you're looking for a good game to spend your money on buy this game!

While I'm typing away I may as well tell everyone the big secret on how to kill any type of the living dead. What you do is use the all weapons cheat by hanging on a ledge, facing north and on a small medical pack hold down L1, L2, R1, R2 and the up on the D-pad at the same time, let go and then press triangle to exit out of the inventory screen. Then go back in and equip a crossbow with explosive ammo. Now the fun begins! Just shoot a mummy or a skeleton with one arrow and watch them expode. You can watch their heads roll across the screen and various other body parts. Also, you should know that if the mummy is just lying on the floor (some do and usually after you push a lever or take an artifact they come alive) or a skeleton you can fire anyhow at them and they'll still be history. I especially liked this game because the name tomb raider actually makes sense. In the other ones you just travel across the globe and usually in the final battle you vist a tomb, kill the huge bad guy and then swipe your artifact. But overall you never step foot in a tomb.

The Last Revelation is the beggining.

This is possibly the-if not, second- best Tomb Raider game. The graphics are awsome(all things considered), Lara looks great(as ususal), and the music is so good you'll wish they made a soundtrack you can buy. The story line is unique, as are the levels. For example, during one level, you enter a room that flips completely upside-down. Also, there is an entire level that happens on the roofs of cars on a speeding train. The puzzles can get frustrating, and the solutions, difficult to perform(using a rampaging bull to smash down a door). And it has its share of freaky stuff you would expect from tomb raiding in Egypt(flesh eating beetles, ghosts,etc.). All in all, this game is every thing a true Tomb Raider fan could want.

Too much Tomb Raiding

I'm a huge fan of the TR series, and I like the movies as well. TR1 and TR2 were the best in terms of story, pacing and action. The CG sequences were cooler too. I hate to say it, but I'm disappointed in this game. TOO SLOW! The levels go on forever, and there's nothing to keep your interest. Ocassionally you will have a ninja jump out at you, or some scorpians, but that's not enough to keep you interested.

The other problems is the levels require too much backtracking and are too complicated. I got stuck numerously and ending up getting a code off the internet to skip levels. The beginning of the game shows promise with young Lara, and there is a very cool level where Lara has to manuver a jeep in the desert and over cliffs and whatnot.

I don't know what I can recommend instead of this one, but I would say rent it or get it for cheap like $5 or less used or new. She tomb raids for too long with little payoff.
